Adapter | CEE 5P 16A 400V plug → Schuko 230V 16A socket | 3P+N+PE → 2P+PE | 6h | IP54 | Famatel 13922
Famatel 13922 is a compact industrial adapter that lets you plug a standard 230V appliance with a Schuko plug into a red three-phase 5-pin 16A socket (CEE / IEC 60309). The adapter takes one phase and the neutral from the 400V socket and provides 230V with earthing at the Schuko socket.
Key point:
Workshops, garages, construction sites and farms often have a three-phase socket but no free domestic one. Instead of makeshift solutions or rewiring, one sealed IP54 adapter connects a 230V tool, heater or charger to the existing 5P 16A socket neatly and safely.Input

16 A (up to ~3.7 kW at 230 V)Operating principle
The adapter plug is a standard red CEE 16A 5-pin (3P+N+PE) plug with the 6h earth contact position, matching 380–415 V sockets to EN / IEC 60309-2. It fits any such industrial socket – wall-mounted, cable-mounted or on a mobile distribution board.
Inside, the Schuko socket is connected between one phase and the neutral, so the output is 230 V, while the protective conductor (PE) is carried through to the Schuko earth contacts. The other two phases are not used – the adapter does not convert voltage, it simply provides the phase-to-neutral voltage.
The result: a 230V appliance is powered from a three-phase socket without any changes to the installation, and the IP54 housing allows use in damp or dusty conditions.
Why choose Famatel 13922?
One compact housing with no cable – nothing to tangle or damage. The manufacturer-rated IP54 protection and the standard CEE connection make the adapter suitable both for fixed sites and for mobile work with tools.Technical specifications

- 230 V from a three-phase socket – no need to run an extension from a distant domestic socket or call an electrician for an extra outlet.
- Standard CEE 16A 5P connection – fits all red 16A 6h sockets regardless of manufacturer.
- Earthing (PE) maintained – the Schuko appliance housing stays earthed via the socket's protective conductor.
- IP54 housing – protected against dust and water splashes, suitable for workshops, construction sites and farm buildings.
- Compact, no cable – fewer joints and weak points, easy to keep in a toolbox.
- Nickel-plated brass contacts – better corrosion resistance and a stable contact in long-term use.
Where is it used?
- Workshops and garages – for hand power tools, compressors and lamps
- Construction sites – from a 16A 5P socket on a mobile distribution board
- Farm buildings and livestock facilities – for heaters, pumps and cleaning equipment
- Production halls – for temporary 230V loads at machine supply sockets
- Warehouses – for chargers of forklifts, floor sweepers or batteries
- Events and outdoor work – for lighting and sound equipment from a three-phase supply
- Connecting a portable EV charger with a Schuko plug when only a 5P socket is available
Use by need
Construction and renovation crews.
One adapter in the toolbox turns any 16A 5P socket on site into a 230V supply point for tools.Farm or country house owners.
A three-phase socket in a barn or garage also serves a heater, pump or lamp without extra wiring.Facility and maintenance services.
Quick connection of a temporary 230V load in a production hall or warehouse without changing the existing distribution.Practical example
If a garage has only a red 16A 5-pin socket for the welder and in winter you need to run a 2 kW electric heater with a Schuko plug, plug Famatel 13922 into the three-phase socket and the heater into the adapter – it runs at 230 V from one phase, with earthing maintained and no installation work.Pros
- Ready to use, no installation
- Standard CEE 16A 6h connection
- IP54 dust and splash protection
- Protective earthing maintained
- Compact, no cable
- Nickel-plated brass contacts
Cons / limitations
- Only one Schuko socket – several appliances need an extension or multi-socket block
- Only one phase is used – total load no more than 16 A
- No built-in fuse, switch or surge protection
- Not suitable for 4-pin (3P+PE) sockets without neutral or for 32A sockets
Safety and installation notes
- Before first use, measure the voltage at the Schuko socket: it must be ~230 V between L and N. Older installations sometimes have 5P sockets with an incorrectly connected N contact – in that case 400 V may appear at the socket.
- Make sure the neutral (N) is connected in the 5P socket – without it there is no 230 V at the output. If the neutral breaks in the supply line, the voltage at a single-phase load may exceed 230 V.
- The circuit supplying the socket must be protected by a circuit breaker of no more than 16 A and a 30 mA residual current device (RCD) – under HD 60364-4-41 this is mandatory for general-use sockets up to 32 A and for mobile equipment used outdoors.
- Do not exceed 16 A – do not connect several high-power loads to one adapter via extensions and multi-plugs.
- During long operation close to 16 A (heaters, EV charging) the Schuko connection heats up: limit the current where possible and check periodically that the plug and socket are not getting hot.
- IP54 is the protection of the adapter housing with the lid closed; with an appliance plugged in, the overall protection also depends on the IP rating of its plug (domestic plugs are usually IP20–IP44). Do not leave the connection in water or puddles.
- Do not use the adapter if the housing is cracked or the contacts are burnt.
Quick selection guide
CEE 16A 5P 400V 6hSchuko 230V 16AIP541 socket, no cableSuitable when you need:- to connect a 230V appliance to a red 16A 5-pin socket
- a sealed solution for a workshop, construction site or farm
- temporary power without changing the installation
Check before use:- that the socket is 16A and 5-pin (with N), not 4-pin or 32A
- that ~230 V (L–N) is measured at the Schuko socket
- that the appliance power does not exceed ~3.7 kW (16 A at 230 V)
- that the circuit is protected by a 16 A circuit breaker and a 30 mA RCD
Important reminder: the adapter is not a voltage converter and does not replace protective devices – it only delivers single-phase 230 V to the Schuko socket.FAQ
Does the adapter convert 400 V to 230 V?
It does not transform – it takes one phase and the neutral from the 400V socket, between which the voltage is 230 V.Will it fit a red 4-pin socket?
No – a 5-pin plug physically does not fit a 4-pin (3P+PE) socket, and there is no neutral there for 230 V.What appliance power can be connected?
Up to 16 A, i.e. about 3.7 kW at 230 V.Can it be used outdoors?
Yes – the adapter housing is IP54, but the sealing of the connection also depends on the plug of the connected appliance; it must not be immersed in water. Is it suitable for EV charging?
It suits a portable charger with a Schuko plug, but only single-phase up to 16 A, and limiting the current is recommended for long charging sessions.Does the adapter have a fuse?
No – protection is provided by the 16 A circuit breaker and the 30 mA RCD in the board supplying the socket.Adapter CEE 5P 16A 400V → Schuko 230V | IP54 | Famatel 13922
