    Quick selection by application

    Product group Application and checks
Copper busbars Rigid conductive links in panels. Copper offers good conductivity; check dimensions, contact area and supports.
Aluminium busbars A lighter solution. Equivalent conductivity usually requires a larger cross-section than copper; use connections suitable for aluminium.
Flexible copper busbars Links in confined spaces, for assembly offsets or vibration compensation where the specific product design permits.
Tinned flexible busbars Flexible copper conductors with a tin coating that reduces surface oxidation. Check insulation, temperature limits and connection method.
Busbar accessories Support insulators, clamps and connection components. Match busbar dimensions, voltage, current and mechanical loads.

How to select dimensions and current

For a solid rectangular busbar: S = width × thickness. For example, 30 × 5 mm = 150 mm². The conductive cross-section of a flexible laminated busbar comes from its copper layers or manufacturer data; external dimensions including insulation are not the conductive cross-section.
Cross-section alone does not determine current capacity. Consider ambient temperature, cooling, bar arrangement, AC/DC operation, connections and allowable temperature rise. Use the specific manufacturer’s tables and a verified panel design; a universal A/mm² value can be misleading.

    Installation checklist

    • Check load and short-circuit currents, insulation clearances and support spacing.
    • Prepare contacts and tighten bolts using the manufacturer’s method and torque.
    • For Cu–Al joints use an approved connection system; tin coating alone does not guarantee compatibility.
    • A bare busbar is not insulated. Provide suitable supports, covers and protection against contact. DIN rail mounting applies only to systems designed for it.
    • Check flexibility, bend radius and movement limits in the product documentation. Not every flexible busbar is suitable for repeated flexing.

    Frequently asked questions

KibirkštisAre Cu and Al busbars of the same size equivalent?

FazėNo. Conductivity, weight and connection requirements differ. Select replacements using complete system data.

    KibirkštisIs a tinned busbar insulated?

FazėNo. Tin is conductive. Insulation, where provided, is a separate layer.

KibirkštisIs the current rating enough to select a busbar?

FazėNo. Fazė reminds us to check temperature rise, short-circuit withstand, supports and connections together.
