Electric radiators – how to choose the power

An electric radiator heats a room without a water system – just hang or place it and plug it into a socket. The thermostat keeps the set temperature, and smart models can be controlled from a phone.

Room area	Power (well insulated)	Power (poorer insulation)
up to 6 m²	500 W	750 W
8–10 m²	750–1000 W	1000–1500 W
12–15 m²	1000–1500 W	1500–2000 W
18–20 m²	1500–2000 W	2000–2500 W
25 m²	2000–2500 W	two radiators

ℹ The table is indicative (~80–100 W/m² at a ceiling height of 2.5–2.7 m). The exact demand depends on heat loss, window area and outdoor temperature. For a larger room, two smaller radiators in different places work better.

• A radiator of up to 2500 W is connected to a socket protected by a circuit breaker of at least 16 A; one circuit – no more than one high-power radiator.
• Do not use extension leads or multi-way adapters – they overheat.
• Do not cover the radiator or dry clothes on it.
• For bathrooms and damp rooms, choose only models designed for them.
