  • Constant pressure PI controller for fans with display | 0-1000Pa | 0-10VDC/0-20mA/PWM | Modbus RTU | 24VAC/VDC | IP65 | Sentera Controls | DPSPG-1K0

DPSPG-1K0 – a Sentera Controls differential pressure controller with an integrated PI control algorithm, measuring range 0–1000 Pa. It measures the pressure difference itself and, via its 0-10 VDC / 0-20 mA analog or PWM output, directly controls EC fans, frequency converters or AC fan speed controllers to maintain the set value. On the front – a 4-digit 7-segment LED display showing the actual pressure, airflow or air velocity.

    Key idea:
This is a sensor and a controller in one housing: no separate pressure transmitter, PLC or BMS logic is needed. The controller itself changes the fan speed until the pressure, airflow or air velocity in the duct matches the setpoint – the system adapts to damper positions and filter fouling.
    Measuring range
    0–1000 Pa
    Output
    0-10 VDC / 0-20 mA / PWM + Modbus RTU
    Power supply
    24 VAC / VDC, 3-wire
    Protection class
    IP65, LED display

    Operating principle

The controller is mounted on a wall or duct structure; the measuring points are connected to the aluminium nozzles "+" and "−" with tubes (PSET-PVC-200, PSET-QF-200 or the Pitot tube kit PSET-PTS-200 / PSET-PTL-200). Power (Vin, GND), the Modbus RTU line (A, /B) and the analog output AO1 to the fan are connected at the terminals. The G type is connected with 3 wires – the analog output GND is internally connected to the power GND, so do not connect this common GND to other DC-powered devices (the equipment may be permanently damaged), and do not mix F and G types in the same network.

An integrated high-resolution digital sensor measures the pressure difference within the 0–1000 Pa range, and the controller, depending on the mode selected over Modbus RTU, works by pressure difference (Pa), air volume (m³/h – when the fan K factor is known, otherwise Q = A × V) or air velocity (m/s – with a Pitot tube kit). The PI algorithm with anti-windup and automatic tuning (auto-tune) compares the measured value with the setpoint and changes the AO1 signal of 0-10 VDC (RL ≥ 50 kΩ), 0-20 mA (RL ≤ 500 Ω) or 0–100 % PWM (1 kHz); the P and I coefficients, response time (0.1–10 s), min. / max. interval and alarm limits are set over Modbus RTU.

Result – the fan speed is varied until the pressure, airflow or air velocity matches the setpoint, so the system adapts to damper positions and filter fouling without a separate sensor and PLC. The actual value is shown on a 4-digit 7-segment LED display, and four LEDs show whether it is stable within the interval, outside it or in the alarm zone.

    Benefits DPSPG-1K0?
One compact IP65 device replaces a pressure transmitter and a separate controller: it measures, regulates, signals with LED indicators, shows the value on a display and integrates into a BMS via Modbus RTU.

    Main functions

    • LED display – the actual value is visible on site – no computer or manometer is needed when commissioning the system.
    • PI control with anti-windup – the controller maintains the setpoint itself and directly controls the fan – no PLC or separate controller is needed.
    • Auto-tune – automatic PI parameter tuning based on the system response.
    • Three modes – pressure difference, airflow (by K-factor) or air velocity (with a Pitot tube).
    • Selectable output – 0-10 VDC, 0-20 mA or PWM – suitable for most EC motors, frequency converters and actuators.
    • Adjustable response time – 0.1–10 s – stable control even with pulsating flow.
    • Range and alarm limits – LED indicators and Modbus registers immediately show when a value goes outside the permitted limits.
    • Modbus RTU – setpoint, PI coefficients and status are controlled and monitored from a BMS or SCADA.
    • Zero calibration – with the SW1 button – quick commissioning on site.

    Where is it used?

    • Measuring range 0–1000 Pa – for low-pressure systems – ducts of apartments, offices and smaller heat recovery units, VAV zones, filter monitoring
    • Maintaining constant pressure in supply and extract ducts
    • Constant air volume (CAV) / variable air volume (VAV) systems with EC fans
    • Overpressure in clean rooms and stairwells (fire protection)
    • Reduced pressure in restaurant kitchens and laboratories
    • Ensuring the minimum ventilation air volume (m³/h) in buildings
    • Ventilation modernization by replacing fans with EC fans

    On-demand operation

For the apartment and office ventilation installer.
The 0–1000 Pa range with ±2 % accuracy (±20 Pa) suits low-pressure ducts and VAV zones.
    For HVAC commissioning engineers.
The LED display shows the actual pressure, airflow or air velocity on site, and auto-tune helps tune the PI parameters quickly.
    For service technicians.
When replacing an old controller, the existing 24 VAC transformer can be kept, since type G is powered at 24 VAC or VDC.

    Practical application

If when commissioning an apartment ventilation system you need to see locally whether the designed duct pressure is maintained, then the DPSPG-1K0 shows the actual value within 0–1000 Pa on its LED display, and the auto-tune function helps to quickly tune the PI parameters. The controller can be powered from an existing 24 VAC transformer, wired with 3 wires.

Application guide: how it is used in practice

The same DPSPG-1K0 adapts to different sites – only the measuring points and what is connected to the output change:

Site What is connected Result Installer's note
Office or apartment ventilation, VAV zone PSET-PVC-200 in the duct → + / −; AO1 → EC fan 0-10 VDC input With some of the dampers closed, the duct pressure stays constant and noise does not increase Install the nozzles away from elbows and branches
Constant air volume (CAV) PSET-PVC-200 at the fan inlet measuring points; known K factor The fan delivers the set m³/h regardless of filter fouling You will find the K factor in the fan manufacturer's data
Maintaining air velocity in the duct Pitot tube PSET-PTS-200 (Ø100–300 mm) or PSET-PTL-200 (Ø150–500 mm) The controller maintains the set air velocity (m/s) and, when the cross-section is known, the airflow Install the tube no closer than 7.5 D downstream of an elbow or a fan
AC fan or frequency converter AO1 0-10 VDC / 0-20 mA → Sentera speed controller or frequency converter input The same controller also controls non-EC actuators Select the signal type via Modbus RTU
Building with BMS / SCADA Modbus RTU (RS485) → A, /B Setpoint and alarms are changed centrally, status is monitored remotely For configuration – the CNVT-USB-RS485 converter and the 3SModbus software
Power supply 24 VAC transformer or 24 VDC source → Vin, GND Stable controller operation Do not connect the common GND to other DC-powered devices

How to choose the range of a pressure controller

    Measuring range Recommended model
    -125…+125 Pa (bidirectional) DPSPG-LP (-125…+125 Pa, 24 VAC / VDC)
    0–1000 Pa DPSPG-1K0 (0–1000 Pa, 24 VAC / VDC) ← this model
    0–2000 Pa DPSPG-2K0 (0–2000 Pa, 24 VAC / VDC)
    0–4000 Pa DPSPG-4K0 (0–4000 Pa, 24 VAC / VDC)
    0–10 000 Pa DPSPG-10K (0–10 000 Pa, 24 VAC / VDC)
Rule: the operating pressure must be within the range and, ideally, occupy a larger part of it – the ±2 % accuracy is calculated from the full range, so do not choose an overly large range for a low pressure. Choose the supply according to the system: type F – 24 VDC, 4-wire; type G – 24 VAC / VDC, 3-wire (the twin of this model is DPSPF-1K0).
When to choose another solution: without a display – HPSPG-1K0; for controlling damper actuators – DPSA series; for two setpoints (day / night) – SPS2 series; for pressure measurement only, without regulation – HPS-2 / DPS-2 transmitters; for simple on / off switching by pressure – PSW pressure switches.

    Pros

    • Sensor and PI controller in one
    • LED display for the actual value
    • Pressure, airflow or air velocity mode
    • 0-10 VDC / 0-20 mA / PWM output
    • Modbus RTU – all parameters remotely
    • IP65 enclosure, aluminium nozzles
    • Adjustable response time 0.1–10 s

    Cons / limitations

    • The setpoint and PI parameters are changed only via Modbus RTU – a CNVT-USB-RS485 converter and the 3SModbus software are required
    • Do not connect the common GND to other DC-powered devices
    • A single setpoint – for day / night mode choose the SPS2 series with two setpoints
    • The pressure connection kit is not included – choose PSET-PVC-200, PSET-QF-200 or the Pitot kit PSET-PTS-200 / PSET-PTL-200
    • Only for clean air and non-aggressive, non-flammable gases

    Safety and installation notes

    • Installation and connection are to be carried out by a qualified specialist with the power disconnected.
    • Power supply – only 18–34 VDC or 15–24 VAC ±10 %; do not exceed the specified limits.
    • Do not connect the common GND of a G-type controller to other DC-powered devices – the equipment may be irreversibly damaged.
    • Do not use type F and G controllers in the same network.
    • For clean air and non-aggressive, non-flammable gases only; ambient temperature -5…+65 °C, non-condensing.
    • Before start-up, perform zero calibration of the sensor (button SW1) with the pressure tubes disconnected.

    Quick selection guide

    0–1000 Pa
    PI controller
    LED display
    0-10 VDC / 0-20 mA / PWM
    Modbus RTU
    24 VAC / VDC
    IP65
    Suitable when you need:
    • to maintain a constant pressure or airflow in the 0–1000 Pa range by controlling a fan;
    • to avoid tuning a separate sensor and controller;
    • to integrate pressure control into a BMS via Modbus RTU.
    Check before use:
    • the operating pressure – whether it fits within the 0–1000 Pa range;
    • the input signal of the controlled device (0-10 VDC, 0-20 mA or PWM);
    • the supply type and connection: 24 VAC / VDC, 3-wire (type G);
    • whether a pressure connection kit is needed (PSET-PVC-200, PSET-QF-200, PSET-PTS-200, PSET-PTL-200).
Important reminder: The DPSPG-1K0 regulates to a single setpoint; the setpoint and parameters are set via Modbus RTU, so commissioning requires a CNVT-USB-RS485 converter and the 3SModbus software.

    FAQ

How do I set the setpoint?
Via Modbus RTU – with the CNVT-USB-RS485 converter and the free Sentera 3SModbus software.
    What does the display show?
Actual pressure difference, air volume or air velocity – depending on the selected mode.
Can it be controlled by air volume in m³/h?
Yes, if the fan K-factor is known; otherwise the airflow is calculated from the air velocity and the duct cross-section (Q = A × V) using a Pitot tube kit.
What is the difference between the F and G types?
F – 24 VDC, separate supply and output GND, connected with 4 wires; G – 24 VAC or VDC, common GND, connected with 3 wires.
Are pressure tubes included in the kit?
No, choose the PSET-PVC-200, PSET-QF-200 or the Pitot tube kit PSET-PTS-200 / PSET-PTL-200.
    What is the accuracy?
±2 % of the measuring range – for the DPSPG-1K0 model this is ±20 Pa.
