  • Differential pressure transmitter | -125...+125Pa | 0-10VDC/0-20mA/PWM | Modbus RTU | 24VDC | 4-wire | IP65 | Sentera Controls | HPS-F--LP

HPS-F--LP – a Sentera Controls differential pressure transmitter with a factory measuring range of -125…+125 Pa. It integrates a digital high-resolution differential pressure sensor and one analog / modulating output: 0-10 VDC, 0-20 mA or 0–100 % PWM signal, and Modbus RTU communication. The -F version – for 4-wire connection with separate supply and analog output GND, powered by 18–34 VDC only; IP65 enclosure, wall-mounted.

    Key idea:
The transmitter converts the pressure difference between two points into a standard control signal: a controller, frequency converter or EC fan receives 0-10 VDC / 0-20 mA / PWM, while the BMS sees the actual pressure, airflow or velocity via Modbus RTU and can change all settings without a screwdriver.
    Measuring range
    -125…+125 Pa (factory default)
    Output
    0-10 VDC / 0-20 mA / PWM + Modbus RTU
    Power supply
    18–34 VDC
    Protection class
    IP65, ASA enclosure

    Operating principle

The transmitter is mounted on a wall, and the two compared zones are connected with tubes to the aluminium “+” and “–” nozzles – e.g. a clean room and a corridor, or a stairwell and an outdoor / corridor space. The Sentera PSET-PVC-200 or PSET-QF-200 kits are used for connection.

An integrated digital sensor measures the pressure difference; three modes are available: differential pressure (Pa), air volume flow (m³/h – by the fan K-factor or Q = A × V) and air velocity (m/s – with the external PSET-PTX-200 Pitot tube kit). The output is factory-calibrated: 0 V at -125 Pa, 10 V at +125 Pa. Over Modbus RTU (the 3SModbus application or the Sensistant configurator) the working window (min. interval 10 Pa for pressure, 10 m³/h for flow, 1 m/s for velocity), output type, response time of 0.1–10 s and alarm limits are set. The LED indicators show whether the value is normal, in the warning zone or out of limits, as well as a sensor fault.

The analog signal directly controls a Sentera speed controller, frequency converter or EC fan – maintaining constant pressure in the duct or room, while the BMS receives the exact value via Modbus. The bidirectional range -125…+125 Pa with a 10 Pa minimum interval allows monitoring of both positive and negative room pressure – it is a pressure-cascade transmitter for clean rooms, stairwells and kitchens/laboratories.

    Benefits HPS-F--LP?
One device – pressure, flow and velocity measurement, analog and Modbus RTU output, programmable range and alarm thresholds, and an IP65 housing. A single model in stock is enough for many sites.

    Main functions

    • Three measuring modes – differential pressure, airflow in m³/h by K-factor or cross-section, and air velocity in m/s with a Pitot tube.
    • Selectable output – 0-10 VDC, 0-20 mA or PWM – suitable for controllers, frequency converters, EC fans and regulators.
    • Modbus RTU – all measured values and settings are accessible from a BMS / SCADA; configurable with 3SModbus or Sensistant.
    • Programmable working window – the min. and max. limits can be narrowed (down to a 10 Pa interval) – the output signal is used only for the required pressure.
    • Response time 0.1–10 s – damps pulsations and turbulence, so the signal to the controller is stable.
    • Zero calibration with a button – SW1 – quick zero check on site, and also resetting the Modbus registers to factory defaults.
    • Status LEDs – a green / yellow / red indicator shows whether the value is normal, in the warning zone or out of range.
    • PWM with internal or external power supply – a jumper selects the 3.3 or 12 VDC internal PWM supply, or an external one via a pull-up resistor.
    • Separate supply and output GND – 4-wire connection – the signal GND is separated from the supply, so the transmitter suits a common 24 VDC network with other devices.

    Where is it used?

    • Clean rooms – maintaining and monitoring positive pressure
    • Stairwell pressurisation systems (fire safety)
    • Restaurant kitchens and biosafety laboratories – negative pressure
    • Room pressure cascades in hospitals and laboratories
    • Monitoring the pressure difference between the room and the outdoors / corridor in a BMS
    • Room pressure control by changing the exhaust fan speed

    On-demand operation

    For cleanroom designers.
a bidirectional -125…+125 Pa range with a minimum 10 Pa working window allows a single model to control both overpressure and negative pressure.
    For the BMS integrator.
without a display – the pressure, flow or velocity value, alarm limits and all settings are accessible via Modbus RTU.
For the electrical panel installer with a 24 VDC bus.
The separate supply and output GND of the -F version allow the transmitter to be connected to a common DC network with other devices.

    Practical application

If a cleanroom has to maintain a slight overpressure relative to the corridor, then the HPS-F--LP is connected with tubes between the room and the corridor, the working window is narrowed over Modbus RTU (to a 10 Pa interval), and the 0-10 VDC signal (factory 0 V = -125 Pa, 10 V = +125 Pa) controls the extract fan speed.

Application guide: how it is used in practice

The HPS-F--LP adapts to different sites – only where the tubes are connected and where the signal is routed changes:

Site What is connected Result Installer's note
Clean room “+” – clean room, “–” – corridor / airlock Positive pressure is continuously monitored; on deviation, an alarm is sent to the BMS Set the alarm limits via Modbus RTU
Stairwell overpressure Stairwell and adjacent space; AO1 → fan frequency converter The fan maintains the required overpressure Choose the response time according to the door opening dynamics
Restaurant kitchen Kitchen and dining hall; AO1 → extract speed controller Negative pressure is maintained in the kitchen, so odors do not spread to the dining hall The bidirectional range also shows the sign
Laboratory / isolator Room and corridor; Modbus → BMS Pressure difference and alarms are logged For non-aggressive, non-flammable gases

How to choose the range of a pressure transmitter

Measuring range / connection Recommended model
    -125…+125 Pa, 3-wire, 24 VAC/VDC HPS-G--LP (low ± pressure difference between rooms)
-125…+125 Pa, 4-wire, 18–34 VDC HPS-F--LP (low ± pressure difference between rooms) ← this model
    0–1000 Pa, 3-wire, 24 VAC/VDC HPS-G-1K0 (filters, duct pressure, VAV)
0–1000 Pa, 4-wire, 18–34 VDC HPS-F-1K0 (filters, duct pressure, VAV)
    0–2000 Pa, 3-wire, 24 VAC/VDC HPS-G-2K0 (universal AHU / fans)
    0–2000 Pa, 4-wire, 18–34 VDC HPS-F-2K0 (universal AHU / fans)
    0–4000 Pa, 3-wire, 24 VAC/VDC HPS-G-4K0 (higher-pressure fans)
    0–4000 Pa, 4-wire, 18–34 VDC HPS-F-4K0 (higher-pressure fans)
    0–10 000 Pa, 3-wire, 24 VAC/VDC HPS-G-10K (high-pressure industry)
    0–10 000 Pa, 4-wire, 18–34 VDC HPS-F-10K (high-pressure industry)
Rule: The -125…+125 Pa range is intended for room pressure differences; for duct and filter pressure choose a 0–1000 Pa or higher model. The -G (3-wire) version suits 24 VAC or DC supply with a common GND; the -F (4-wire) version is DC only with separate GNDs, when the output GND must be isolated from the supply GND (e.g. in DC-powered networks with other devices). Do not mix -F and -G in the same network.
When to choose another solution: with a display – DPS series; for two points – HPD (without display) or DPD (with display); connection kits PSET-PVC-200, PSET-QF-200, Pitot tubes PSET-PTS-200 / PSET-PTL-200; for Modbus configuration – CNVT-USB-RS485-SET converter; for 24 VDC power – SEPS8-24-40.
