  • Digital modular fan speed controller | Modbus RTU | 2.5A | 230VAC | DIN rail | Sentera Controls | DRE-1-25-DT

DRE-1-25-DT – Sentera Controls digital modular DIN rail fan speed controller: 9 speed steps, LED display, three buttons and Modbus RTU. Controls single-phase voltage-controllable AC motors up to 2.5 A.

    Key idea:
Stepped speed control in the control panel with clear indication: the display shows the selected step (0–9), and the same can be controlled from the BMS via Modbus RTU.
    What it is for DRE-1-25-DT:
This model is designed for medium-power fans (up to 2.5 A) – duct fans in offices, classrooms, retail premises or 2–3 smaller fans together.
    Max. motor current
    2.5 A
    Control
    3 buttons / Modbus RTU
    Power supply
    230 VAC ±10 %, 50–60 Hz
    Installation
    DIN rail, IP30

    Operating principle

The controller is mounted on a DIN rail. Connect the power supply (L, N), the motor (U1, U2), the unregulated output (L1) and, if required, the Modbus RTU line (A, /B).

Speed is changed by varying the motor supply voltage in 9 steps between the set min. (30–65 % Us) and max. (75–100 % Us) limits. The step is selected with the ▲/▼ buttons and shown on the 7-segment display.

Normal or inverse mode and fast or slow start-up are selectable. Settings can also be changed via Modbus RTU with the 3SModbus software.

Engineer's note: with an AC induction motor, reducing the voltage increases rotor losses, so the savings are lower than with an EC fan or a frequency inverter; when completely silent operation at low speed is essential, choose a transformer controller with a sinusoidal output voltage.

    Benefits DRE-1-25-DT?
Digital, precisely repeatable speed setting in the control panel (steps 0–9) and Modbus integration in one small DIN module.

Original manufacturer documentation – technical data, wiring diagrams and installation instructions.

    Main functions

    • 9 speed steps – precisely repeatable setting – the step number is visible on the display.
    • Buttons and display – settings are changed directly in the control panel.
    • Modbus RTU – the step and status are controlled from the BMS.
    • Min. / max. limits – the motor does not run at too low a voltage, and the speed does not exceed the permissible level.
    • Inverse mode and start-up – adapted to the specific system.
    • Unregulated L1 output – for a lamp or a small load up to 0.5 A.
    • SenteraWeb – via the Sentera internet module, the controller can be connected to the SenteraWeb cloud – remote control, monitoring and alerts via the internet.

    Where is it used?

    • Ventilation and automation control panels
    • Office and retail ventilation with stepped control
    • Buildings with BMS (Modbus RTU)
    • Plant rooms

    On-demand operation

    For the panel builder.
    Compact DIN module with display.
    For the BMS integrator.
Modbus RTU – step control from a central system.
    For maintenance staff.
Clear step number on the display.

Application guide: how it is used in practice

    Typical DRE-1-25-DT applications:

Site What is connected Result Installer's note
Ventilation control panel Fan → U1, U2 Speed is set with buttons in 9 steps Set the min. limit to suit the motor
Building with BMS Modbus RTU → A, /B BMS changes the step and monitors the status In a Modbus network with AC power supply, do not connect the GND terminal to other devices or to the CNVT-USB-RS485 converter – this may damage the communication electronics.
Indication Lamp → L1 You can see that the fan is running L1 load – up to 0.5 A

How to select the controller current

Rated current of the motor(s) Recommended model
    up to 2.5 A DRE-1-25-DT (2.5 A) ← this model
Rule: controller max. current ≥ motor rated current (see the motor nameplate). The starting current is already accounted for by the manufacturer; no additional margin is needed. When connecting several fans – motors of the same type – add up their rated currents. For higher currents in a control panel – MVS-1 series (up to 10 A).
When to choose another solution: for smooth control with a 0-10 VDC signal – MVS-1 series; for simple manual control in a control panel – DRX-1 series; for an EC fan – an EC controller.

    Pros

    • 9 steps and display
    • Modbus RTU
    • Adjustable limits
    • Inverse mode
    • Compact DIN module

    Cons / limitations

    • Current up to 2.5 A
    • No 0-10 VDC input
    • IP30 – in control panel only
    • Operating temperature up to +35 °C
    • The output voltage is non-sinusoidal – some motors may hum audibly at low speed

    Safety and installation notes

    • Installation and connection must be carried out by a qualified electrician with the power disconnected.
    • Check that the motor is suitable for voltage control and that its current does not exceed 2.5 A.
    • In a Modbus network with AC power supply, do not connect the GND terminal to other devices or to the CNVT-USB-RS485 converter – this may damage the communication electronics.
