EBM-Papst FFU filter unit fan controller | Sentera Controls | SPVL8-010-EP
SPVL8-010-EP – Sentera Controls EC fan controller with Modbus / DCI output, designed for EBM-Papst fan filter units (FFU) with EC motors, including the K3G series with a Modbus / DCI interface. One controller configures, controls and monitors up to 20 fans.
Key idea:
Instead of an analogue signal for each fan – a single digital chain: the controller detects the connected FFUs itself, assigns them network IDs, and the RGB LED shows whether all fans are running without errors.Power supply
85–305 VAC, 50–60 HzOutput
Modbus / DCI (EBM-Papst)Number of fans
up to 20Protection
IP44 / IP54Operating principle
The controller is supplied from the mains, and EBM-Papst FFU fans are daisy-chained with Cat5 / UTP cable with RJ45 connectors (RS485 + DCI). During commissioning each fan is automatically configured and receives a network ID.
This is not a power controller: the motor supply is connected separately, and SPVL8-010-EP only sends digital speed commands and reads the status.
The knob changes the speed of all fans steplessly from 10 % to 100 % (or vice versa), the end position is OFF. Vmin, Vmax and direction are set via Modbus RTU holding registers.
Engineer's note: the RGB LED shows whether the installation is OK, whether configuration is needed, whether any motor is not responding, or whether there are warnings or errors – this greatly shortens cleanroom commissioning work.
Benefits SPVL8-010-EP?
Up to 20 FFU fans are started, controlled and monitored by a single device without a separate controller or programming for each fan.Technical specifications

Main functions
- Automatic configuration – each fan is configured and receives a network ID automatically.
- Up to 20 fans – a single Modbus / DCI chain.
- Status monitoring – RGB LED and Modbus input registers: non-responding motors, warnings, errors.
- OFF position – all fans are stopped with the knob.
- Bootloader – firmware updates via Modbus RTU.
Where is it used?
- Cleanrooms with FFU ceilings
- Production areas in the pharmaceutical, electronics and food industries
- Laboratories and operating theatres with EBM-Papst FFU
- Modernisation of existing FFU systems
On-demand operation
For the cleanroom installer.
Automatic ID and configuration – quick commissioning. For the maintenance engineer.
RGB indication immediately shows a non-responding fan or an error. For the facility manager.
All FFUs are controlled with a single knob.Application guide: how it is used in practice
SPVL8-010-EP can be adapted to different FFU systems – only the number of fans and the connection method change:

For fans with an analogue 0-10 V input choose SPV-8-010-MF or SPV-8-010-PM.When to choose another solution: for EC fans controlled by an analogue 0-10 VDC signal – SPV-8 series (PM / CP / MF); with a display – RDCV9-AD.Pros
- Up to 20 FFU fans
- Automatic configuration and ID assignment
- Status and error indication via RGB LED
- OFF position
- Supply 85–305 VAC
Cons / limitations
- Suitable only for fans with an EBM-Papst Modbus / DCI interface
- More than 20 fans – several controllers are required
- Operating temperature 0–40 °C
- No contacts or alarm outputs are specified in the datasheet
Safety and installation notes
- Installation and connection must be carried out by a qualified electrician with the supply to all connected devices disconnected.
- The terminals carry mains voltage – connect only with the supply disconnected.
- Do not connect terminals 4 and 5.
- Use Cat5 / UTP cable with RJ45 connectors for the fan chain.
- Use at 0–40 °C, 5–95 % rH non-condensing.
