Electronic fan speed controller with TK | 5A | 110-240VAC | surface-mounted | IP54 | Sentera Controls | ITRS9-50-DT
ITRS9-50-DT – Sentera Controls electronic fan speed controller with a knob and an illuminated ON/OFF switch, motor TK protection, remote control inputs and an alarm output. Controls single-phase voltage-controllable AC motors up to 5 A, powered from a 110–240 VAC network with automatic voltage detection.
Key idea:
Industrial-style manual controller: robust IP54 enclosure, clear knob and an illuminated switch that is visible even in the dark. The TK input protects the motor – on overheating the controller stops the fan and activates the alarm output. What it is for ITRS9-50-DT:
This model is designed for more powerful fans (up to 5 A) – roof or duct fans in warehouses, workshops, halls or a group of fans.Max. motor current

The controller is wall-mounted. Connect the power supply (L, N, PE) and the motor (U1, U2); the unregulated L1 output can power a three-wire motor, a damper actuator or a pump; the motor thermal contacts are connected to the TK terminals.
Speed is changed smoothly by varying the motor supply voltage (electronic control). Us – supply voltage; the controller automatically detects a 110–240 VAC network.
The knob sets the voltage from the minimum limit up to the maximum limit. Min. limit – 30–60 % Us (factory setting 45 %), max. – 70–100 % Us (factory setting 100 %); both are set with internal trimmers. A jumper on the board selects normal or fast start-up (8–10 s at full speed so that the motor starts reliably).
Engineer's note: with an AC induction motor, reducing the voltage increases rotor losses, so the savings are lower than with an EC fan or a frequency inverter; when completely silent operation at low speed is essential, choose a transformer controller with a sinusoidal output voltage.
Benefits ITRS9-50-DT?
Reliable manual control with a wider than usual supply range (110–240 VAC) and an unregulated output, while TK protection, NO/NC remote control inputs and a 230 V alarm output allow it to be integrated into building automation.Technical specifications

Main functions
- Knob and illuminated switch – speed is set manually, and the on status is visible even in the dark.
- Wide supply range 110–240 VAC – the controller detects the mains voltage automatically.
- Adjustable min. limit – prevents the motor from stalling or overheating when running at too low a voltage.
- Quick start – 8–10 s at full speed – reliable start-up even when a low speed is set.
- Unregulated output L1 (2 A) – for a three-wire motor, damper actuator or pump.
- TK protection – if the motor overheats, the controller stops the fan and activates the alarm output.
- NO / NC remote control – the fan can be stopped by an external contact, e.g. from the fire alarm.
- Alarm output 230 V – a fault signal for a lamp, siren or BMS.
Where is it used?
- Workshops, garages, warehouses
- Ventilation of retail and production premises
- Farm buildings
- Duct, roof and axial fans with AC motors
- 110–120 V networks (export projects)
- Fans with thermal contacts (TK)
On-demand operation
For the electrician.
Simple connection, wide supply range, PE terminal. For the ventilation installer.
The min. limit and start-up mode are set on site to suit the specific fan.For the user.
Clear knob and illuminated switch – no settings required.Application guide: how it is used in practice
Typical ITRS9-50-DT applications:
Site What is connected Result Installer's note Workshop, garage Fan → U1, U2 Speed is adjusted manually as required Set the min. limit with the trimmer so that the motor always starts Fan with damper Damper actuator → L1 The damper is powered together with the fan L1 load – up to 2 A Motor with difficult start-up Quick start (jumper) For 8–10 s the motor runs at full speed, then switches to the set speed Useful when a low speed is set Fan with thermal contact Motor TK → TK terminals On overheating the fan is stopped and the red LED lights up Alarm output – up to 0.5 A Fire shutdown Fire alarm contact → NO or NC input The fan is stopped by a remote signal Select NO or NC according to the alarm contact How to select the controller current
Rated current of the motor(s) Recommended model up to 1.5 A ITRS9-15-DT (1.5 A) 1.5–3 A ITRS9-30-DT (3 A) 3–5 A ITRS9-50-DT (5 A) ← this model 5–6 A ITRS9-60-DT (6 A) 6–10 A ITRS9100-DT (10 A) Rule: controller max. current ≥ motor rated current (see the motor nameplate). The starting current is already accounted for by the manufacturer; no additional margin is needed. When connecting several fans – motors of the same type – add up their rated currents. When to choose another solution: sensor (0-10 VDC) or Modbus control needed – EVS-1 / EVSS1 series; for an EC fan – an EC potentiometer; for a three-phase motor – a three-phase transformer controller; for a motor without TK – the simpler ITR-9 series.Pros
- Power supply 110–240 VAC with automatic detection
- Knob and illuminated ON/OFF switch
- Adjustable min. limit
- Quick start mode
- Unregulated L1 output (2 A)
- IP54 enclosure
- TK protection, NO/NC inputs, alarm output
Cons / limitations
- No 0-10 VDC input and no Modbus
- Only for single-phase voltage-controllable motors; not suitable for EC fans
- Operating temperature up to +35 °C
- More expensive than ITR-9 – if the motor has no TK, ITR-9-50-DT is sufficient
- The output voltage is non-sinusoidal – some motors may hum audibly at low speed
Safety and installation notes
- Installation and connection must be carried out by a qualified electrician with the power disconnected.
- Always connect the protective earth (PE).
- Check that the motor is suitable for voltage control and that its rated current does not exceed 5 A.
- Terminal layout differs depending on the model – wire according to the diagram of the specific model.
- Intended for indoor use only (up to +35 °C).
