Industrial LED lamp | E27 | 41W | 230V | 6000lm | 4000K | IP65 | replacement for mercury vapour lamp (HQL) 125W | Ledvance HQL LED P
Ledvance HQL LED P is an industrial LED lamp with an E27 base, designed to replace 125 W mercury vapour (HQL) lamps in street, area and industrial luminaires. In an existing HQL luminaire it runs on the same electromagnetic ballast or directly on 230 V mains, so the luminaire does not need to be replaced.
Key point:
The 41 W lamp delivers 6000 lm – as much light as a 125 W HQL lamp. According to the manufacturer, energy consumption drops by up to 78 %, and full light comes on instantly without warm-up. It is the newer-generation successor to the HQL LED PRO 46 W: same flux, 4000 K and E27 base, but 5 W less power.Power / replaces

HQL ballast (CCG) or 230 VProtection & lifetime
IP65 / 60,000 hOperating principle
The lamp is screwed into the existing E27 socket in place of the HQL 125 W lamp. If the luminaire has an HQL electromagnetic ballast (CCG), it can stay – the lamp is compatible with it. The ballast can also be bypassed and the lamp supplied directly from 230 V mains, which removes ballast losses completely.
The built-in driver stabilises the LED current, keeps the power factor above 0.90 and protects against surges up to 6 kV (L-N). The aluminium body dissipates heat, so the lamp operates at ambient temperatures from −40 to +60 °C.
The result: 6000 lm of neutral white 4000 K light immediately after switching on, 360° distribution like a classic HQL lamp and a 60,000 h lifetime (L70/B50) – replacements are needed far less often.
Why choose HQL LED P 41 W?
It lets you upgrade old HQL lighting by changing only the lamp: no new luminaires, no second lift hire and no future mercury waste. Energy use falls by more than three times while the light output stays the same.Technical specifications

- Direct HQL 125 W replacement – only the lamp changes, the luminaire stays.
- Compatible with HQL ballast – fits an existing HQL luminaire without rewiring.
- Direct 230 V operation – bypassing the ballast removes its losses and allows use in NAV / HQI luminaires.
- 146 lm/W efficacy – 6000 lm from 41 W, up to 78 % lower consumption.
- Instant start – 100 % light in under 0.5 s, no warm-up after a short outage.
- Surge protection up to 6 kV – suited to street networks with frequent voltage spikes.
- 60,000 h and 100,000 cycles – fewer replacements in high-mounted luminaires.
Where is it used?
- Street and yard luminaires with an E27 socket
- Parks, squares and pedestrian zones
- Factory, warehouse and logistics centre grounds
- Car parks
- Farmyards, livestock building approaches, grain dryer areas
- Upgrading old HQL luminaires without replacing them
- NAV / HQI luminaires rewired for direct 230 V supply
Use by need
Street lighting maintenance.
You upgrade old HQL luminaires by changing lamps only, and electricity costs fall by up to 78 %.Plant energy manager.
Site lighting becomes cheaper and needs less maintenance, while light levels stay the same.Electrical installer.
One model covers HQL luminaires with a ballast and those rewired for direct 230 V supply.Practical example
If a company site has 20 street luminaires with HQL 125 W lamps, replacing them with HQL LED P 41 W cuts lamp power alone by 1.68 kW. At about 4000 operating hours per year, that is roughly 6700 kWh less, not counting ballast losses. Luminaires, sockets and cables stay the same.Pros
- Direct HQL 125 W replacement – same 6000 lm flux
- Runs on HQL ballast or directly on 230 V
- 146 lm/W, up to 78 % lower consumption
- Instant start without warm-up
- IP65, −40…+60 °C, surge protection up to 6 kV
- 60,000 h lifetime, 100,000 cycles
- Mercury-free
Cons / limitations
- Does not work with an ignitor – it must be removed in NAV / HQI luminaires
- Operation on an electronic ballast (ECG) is not specified by the manufacturer – rewire such a luminaire for direct 230 V
- Not dimmable – not for use with dimmers
- Not recommended in tight enclosed luminaires or with close-fitting reflectors – cooling is impaired
- 440 g and Ø80 × 195 mm – check that it fits and the socket can carry it
Safety and installation notes
- Before changing the lamp, disconnect the luminaire supply and let the HQL lamp cool down.
- In a NAV / HQI luminaire, remove the ignitor and ballast and connect the socket directly to 230 V.
- For horizontal mounting, the t-c measuring point must be on the top side of the lamp.
- Outdoors, use only in suitable enclosed luminaires – an IP65 lamp does not replace the luminaire’s own protection.
- Rewiring for direct 230 V and all electrical work must be carried out by a qualified electrician.
Quick selection guide
E2741 W6000 lm4000 KIP65HQL 125 W replacementSuitable when you need to:- Replace an HQL 125 W lamp in an E27 luminaire
- Cut lighting costs without replacing luminaires
- Get instant light outdoors without warm-up
- Replace the discontinued HQL LED PRO 46 W
Check before use:- Ballast type: electromagnetic HQL or electronic
- Whether the luminaire has an ignitor
- Whether the Ø80 × 195 mm lamp fits under the cover
- Whether the luminaire is tight with a close-fitting reflector
Important reminder: the lamp replaces only the light source. The luminaire’s sealing, socket and wiring stay as they are – an old, damaged luminaire is worth replacing entirely.FAQ
Can it replace an HQL 125 W without modifying the luminaire?
Yes, if the luminaire has an HQL electromagnetic ballast and no ignitor – the lamp simply screws in.Can it be used in a NAV or metal halide (HQI) luminaire?
Yes, but the luminaire must be rewired directly to 230 V with the ballast and ignitor removed.Does it work with an electronic ballast?
The manufacturer specifies operation only on an HQL electromagnetic ballast or directly on 230 V, so an electronic ballast must be bypassed. Is it dimmable?
No, the lamp is not dimmable. Can it replace the older HQL LED PRO 46 W?
Yes – same 6000 lm flux, 4000 K and E27 base, with lower power of 41 W.Will it fit my luminaire?
The lamp measures Ø80 × 195 mm and weighs 440 g – compare with the luminaire cover and socket holder.Industrial LED lamp | E27 | 41W | 230V | 6000lm | 4000K | IP65 | replacement for mercury vapour lamp (HQL) 125W | Ledvance HQL LED P

Please refer to the technical specification.ManufacturerLumens (Lm) are the unit of measurement for light flux, indicating the intensity and brightness of light emitted by a lamp or light fixture. Based on their quantity, you can choose a light fixture that will properly illuminate the entire room.
How to choose the right number of lumens in a light fixture?
450-800 Lm are used for decorative lighting, table lamps, bedside lamps. Light fixtures with up to 800 Lm brightness are suitable for creating a cozy environment.
800-1100 Lm are used for small rooms (bedrooms, hallways).
1100-1600 Lm are used for medium-sized spaces such as dining rooms, kitchens, bathrooms, and children's rooms.
1600-3000 Lm are used for large rooms (shopping malls, entire 11-18 square meter rooms).
Light fixtures with more than 3000 Lm emit very bright and intense light. They are used in workshops, garages, and industrial spaces.
To accurately calculate the required number of lumens for a room, use the formula:Lm = 150 lx * 4π * (distance in meters to the surface)²
