  • Industrial mechanical thermostat | 0-40°C | changeover contact 16A 250VAC | capillary sensor | IP54 | Sentera Controls | IMRT-0-40

IMRT-0-40 – a Sentera Controls industrial mechanical single-pole thermostat with a 0–40 °C setting range. It switches fans, electric heating or Sentera controllers on and off in industrial and agricultural premises – warehouses, greenhouses, workshops.

    Key idea:
Simple and reliable: no power supply, no programming, no Modbus. You set the temperature with the knob, and the changeover contact directly switches a load up to 16 A (resistive, 250 VAC).
    Setting range
    0–40 °C
    Contact
    Changeover (C, NO, NC)
    Load
    16 A / 250 VAC (resistive), 5 A / 250 VAC (inductive)
    Protection
    IP54

    Operating principle

The thermostat is mounted in the controlled room, and the wires are connected to contacts C (common), 2 (NO) and 1 (NC); the thermostat itself needs no power supply. The sensor is a gas-filled stainless steel capillary, coiled on the outside.

As the temperature changes, the gas pressure in the capillary changes, which mechanically switches the contact at the value set with the graduated knob (0–40 °C). Hysteresis ±4 °C, tolerance ±2 °C, temperature gradient 1 K / 15 min., maximum capillary temperature 44 °C.

Result – with the changeover contact the same thermostat switches on heating when it is cold, or ventilation or cooling when it is warm. The contacts directly switch a resistive load of 16 A / 250 VAC (10 A / 400 VAC) and an inductive load of 5 A / 250 VAC (1 A / 400 VAC); for larger motors the thermostat controls a contactor or the start input of a Sentera controller.

    Benefits IMRT-0-40?
A thermostat independent of electronics and communication – reliable switching of heating or ventilation in humid and dusty farm buildings.

Original manufacturer documentation – technical data, wiring diagrams and installation instructions.

    Main functions

    • Changeover contact – NO for heating or ventilation, NC for inverse logic.
    • High contact load – up to 16 A resistive load – the heater is connected directly.
    • Capillary sensor – stainless steel, long-term stability.
    • No power supply needed – works mechanically.
    • IP54 – suitable for damp and industrial premises and agriculture.
    • Graduated knob – setting 0–40 °C without tools or programming.
    • 400 VAC contacts – resistive load up to 10 A / 400 VAC, inductive – up to 1 A / 400 VAC.

    Where is it used?

    • Greenhouses – switching on ventilation or heating
    • Warehouses and workshops – protection against overheating or freezing
    • Livestock buildings
    • Switching fans on via the start input of a Sentera speed controller
    • Electric heating control
    • Pump rooms and technical rooms – heater activation for frost protection
    • Humid production rooms up to 95 % rH non-condensing

    On-demand operation

    For greenhouse farms.
A fan or heater is switched on by temperature, without electronics and without a power supply for the thermostat.
    For farm building electricians.
Simple C / NO / NC wiring and up to 16 A resistive load directly through the contact.
For warehouse and workshop maintenance foremen.
Overheating or freeze protection is set with a knob within seconds.

    Practical application

If a 2 kW electric heater (about 8.7 A at 230 VAC) in a greenhouse has to switch on when the temperature drops to 10 °C, then set the IMRT-0-40 knob to 10 °C and connect the heater directly through the contact, since a resistive load is permitted up to 16 A / 250 VAC, but take the ±4 °C hysteresis into account.

Application guide: how it is used in practice

IMRT-0-40 – the same thermostat, only the contact used and the load differ:

Site What is connected Result Installer's note
Greenhouse – ventilation Fan or contactor → C and NO (2) When the set temperature is exceeded, the fan switches on Inductive load ≤5 A / 250 VAC; for larger loads – a contactor
Warehouse – frost protection Electric heater → C and NC (1) Once cooled, the heater switches on Resistive load ≤16 A / 250 VAC
Sentera speed controller Speed controller start input → thermostat contact The fan starts according to temperature Check the speed controller's input type
Livestock room Extract fan via contactor On a hot day additional ventilation switches on Capillary temperature ≤44 °C

How to choose the range of a thermostat

    Temperature range Recommended model
    0–40 °C IMRT-0-40 (mechanical, capillary) ← this model
Rule: the set temperature must be within 0–40 °C and the capillary must not heat above 44 °C; other ranges – on request to the manufacturer. For an inductive load (motor) above 5 A / 250 VAC use a contactor.
When to choose another solution: for smooth fan speed control according to temperature – a Sentera temperature sensor with a 0-10 VDC or Modbus output and an electronic or transformer speed controller.

    Pros

    • Works without a power supply
    • Changeover contact (NO / NC)
    • Up to 16 A resistive load
    • IP54
    • Stainless steel capillary
    • Easy setting with a knob

    Cons / limitations

    • On / off only – for smooth speed control by temperature choose a GTE or GTH series controller
    • Hysteresis ±4 °C, tolerance ±2 °C – not suitable for precise control
    • No Modbus or analog output
    • Range 0–40 °C; capillary max. temperature 44 °C

    Safety and installation notes

    • Installation and connection must be carried out by a qualified electrician with the power disconnected.
    • Do not exceed the contact ratings: 16 A / 250 VAC resistive, 5 A / 250 VAC inductive.
    • Do not install where condensation forms; capillary temperature – no more than 44 °C.

    Quick selection guide

    0–40 °C
    16 A / 250 VAC
    NO / NC
    Capillary
    IP54
    Suitable when you need:
    • to switch a fan or heater according to temperature;
    • to control the microclimate of a greenhouse or warehouse simply and reliably;
    • to give a start signal to a Sentera speed controller.
    Check before use:
    • the required temperature (0–40 °C);
    • the load current and type (resistive / inductive);
    • whether NO or NC logic is needed.
Important reminder: The IMRT-0-40 is a mechanical on / off thermostat – it does not regulate speed smoothly.
