Plug-in relay | 24 V DC coil | 1CO (SPDT) | 6 A | 250 V AC/DC | Phoenix Contact REL-MR-24DC/21 | 2961105
Phoenix Contact REL-MR-24DC/21 (2961105) is a plug-in miniature power relay with one changeover contact and a 24 V DC coil. It is designed for Phoenix Contact PLC series 6.2 mm relay bases and can also be mounted on a printed circuit board.
Key point:
This is a replaceable industrial interface relay element: when a relay fails in a PLC-BSC base, only the relay is replaced while the wiring stays connected. AgSnO contacts and a 6 A continuous current suit typical PLC output loads.Coil
24 V DC, 7 mAContact
1CO (1 PDT), AgSnOContinuous current
6 AMax. switching voltage
250 V AC/DCOperating principle
The relay plugs into a Phoenix Contact PLC series base (e.g. PLC-BSC-24DC/21) or is soldered onto a PCB. The base is mounted on a DIN rail and connected to the controller and the load.
When 24 V DC is applied to the coil (typical current 7 mA), the contact changes over in about 5 ms: the common terminal connects to the NO output.
Result: the PLC output is loaded only by the 7 mA coil current, while loads up to 6 A are switched by an isolated contact.
Why choose the Phoenix Contact REL-MR-24DC/21?
The low coil current does not strain PLC outputs, and the plug-in format with PLC bases allows the relay to be replaced without disconnecting wires.Technical specifications

- Signal isolation – separates the PLC output from the load circuit.
- Low coil current (7 mA) – minimal load on PLC outputs.
- Plug-in format – the relay is replaced in the base without disconnecting wires.
- AgSnO contacts – suitable for power switching up to 6 A.
- Sealed RT III housing – also suitable for PCB soldering with washing.
Where is it used?
- PLC output interface modules (Phoenix Contact PLC-INTERFACE)
- Control cabinets and machine automation
- Replacement of a failed relay in a PLC-BSC base
- Control of contactors and signalling devices
- HVAC and building automation panels
- Electronic boards with a power contact
Use by need
For maintenance electricians.
Spare relay for PLC-BSC bases – repair without rewiring the panel. For automation integrators.
Together with PLC bases, it forms a compact 6.2 mm interface system. For electronics manufacturers.
Can be soldered directly onto a PCB; the RT III housing withstands washing.Practical application
If one relay in a panel with Phoenix Contact PLC-BSC-24DC/21 bases no longer switches its load, pull out the faulty relay and insert a new REL-MR-24DC/21 – the wiring stays untouched and the equipment is back in operation within minutes.Pros
- Genuine Phoenix Contact product
- Low coil current – 7 mA
- Replaceable in PLC bases without disconnecting wires
- AgSnO contacts, 6 A continuous current
- UL, cUL and VDE approvals
- Sealed RT III housing
Cons / limitations
- Cannot be mounted on a DIN rail without a base – requires a PLC series base
- One changeover contact
- For low signal currents (< 10 mA) choose a relay with gold-plated contacts
Safety and installation notes
- Replace the relay only after disconnecting the load circuit voltage.
- Coil voltage is 24 V DC; an incorrect voltage will damage the relay.
- Use only compatible Phoenix Contact PLC series bases.
- Do not exceed the 6 A continuous current and 250 V switching voltage.
- Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician.
Quick selection guide
Coil: 24 V DC1CO (SPDT)6 A≤ 250 V AC/DCFor PLC basesSuitable when you need to:- replace a relay in a Phoenix Contact PLC base
- isolate a PLC output from the load
- build a compact 6.2 mm interface solution
Check before use:- whether the base is compatible with REL-MR-…/21 relays
- control voltage – 24 V DC
- load current and voltage
Important reminder: A relay is not a protective device – it does not protect against overload or short circuit.FAQ
