Beam angle – this is the angle at which light spreads on the floor. By selecting the correct beam angle for a light fixture or lamp, the room will be adequately lit.

When choosing a light fixture’s beam angle, consider the following factors:

The primary lighting of the room, which covers the entire space. In bedrooms, living rooms, garages, and bathrooms, the light fixture beam angle should be between 120° to 90°, depending on the size of the room.
Accent lighting, which illuminates a specific part of the room. Fixtures with narrower beam angles are used for this type of lighting.
Decorative lighting, which highlights a desired object. Narrow or very narrow beam angle fixtures are used for this purpose.

Retail stores require bright and intense light, which is achieved with fixtures that have narrower beam angles. A wider beam may be used to illuminate the entire store.
In restaurants, it is recommended to use narrow beam light. To highlight the décor, narrow beams from 10° to 25° are used.
Application of beam angle:

A narrow beam angle illuminates a smaller area but emits more intense light.
A medium beam angle is applied in living areas but is also ideal for lighting in clothing stores and commercial spaces.
A wide beam angle is suitable for outdoor lighting, for example, to light a large commercial store.
