Modbus RTU distribution box PoM | 10×RJ45 24VDC 1.5A + 12×RJ12 3.3VDC 0.3A | DIN rail | IP20 | 0…60°C | Sentera Controls | DLDBM22
DLDBM22 – a Sentera Controls DIN rail Power over Modbus (PoM) distribution box: 10 RJ45 connectors with Modbus RTU and 24 VDC and 12 RJ12 connectors with Modbus RTU and integrated 3.3 VDC supply. A single cable supplies both data and power to each device.
Key idea:
The box is the “distribution board” of the Sentera Modbus system: power and the Modbus line come into it, and cables fan out in a star from it to sensors, controllers and regulators. No software or configuration.Connections
10 × RJ45 (24 VDC) + 12 × RJ12 (3.3 VDC)Max. current
1.5 A total (3.3 VDC – up to 0.3 A)Power supply
24 VDC via Modbus (PoM)Installation / protection
DIN rail, IP20Operating principle
The box is mounted on a DIN rail, and one RJ45 socket is fed with 24 VDC together with the Modbus RTU (RS485) signal, e.g. from a Sentera power module. Devices are connected to the other sockets: RJ45 (1–2 +24 VDC, 3–4 A, 5–6 /B, 7–8 GND) – 24 VDC powered, RJ12 (1–2 +3.3 VDC, 3 A, 4 /B, 5–6 GND) – 3.3 VDC devices.
The box generates the 3.3 VDC voltage from 24 VDC. The total distributed current is up to 1.5 A (24 VDC and 3.3 VDC combined), of which up to 0.3 A is for the 3.3 VDC RJ12 connectors; the power is 36 W at 24 VDC and 1 W at 3.3 VDC; no configuration is needed.
Result – up to 21 devices receive power and Modbus communication from a single input, and green LEDs at the RJ45 and RJ12 sockets immediately show where voltage is present. With an operating environment of 0…+60 °C, the box is intended for heated rooms and indoor panels.
Benefits DLDBM22?
Neat star-topology Modbus and power distribution in the panel – faster installation with factory-made UTP cables and fewer wiring errors.Technical specifications

Main functions
- 10 × RJ45 with 24 VDC – For Sentera PoM devices – a single UTP cable for data and power.
- 12 × RJ12 with 3.3 VDC – integrated 3.3 VDC source for devices that need a low voltage.
- No configuration needed – switch it on and it works.
- LED indication – the presence of power is visible at a glance.
- DIN rail – installed in the panel next to the power module.
- Star topology – each device is connected with its own UTP cable from a single point – easier fault finding.
- Separate 3.3 VDC limit – RJ12 connectors – up to 0.3 A, so the power budget is calculated clearly.
Where is it used?
- Ventilation and HVAC automation panels with many Sentera Modbus devices
- Power and communication for sensors, sensor-controllers, HVAC controllers and speed controllers
- Star connection of devices over long distances
- Systems with 3.3 VDC and 24 VDC Sentera devices
- Heated technical rooms and indoor automation panels (0…+60 °C)
- Equipment networks of offices and schools
On-demand operation
For internal control panel manufacturers.
A compact solution for heated rooms where 0…+60 °C is sufficient. For room unit network installers.
3.3 VDC devices connect to RJ12 and 24 VDC devices to RJ45, using factory-made cables. For school and office ventilation designers.
A clear current budget: 1.5 A in total, of which 0.3 A is for the 3.3 VDC part.Practical application
If twelve 3.3 VDC devices and several 24 VDC controllers have to be connected in a heated technical room, then the DLDBM22 serves them from a single PoM input, but the total current of the 3.3 VDC devices must not exceed 0.3 A, and that of the whole box 1.5 A.Application guide: how it is used in practice
The DLDBM22 always distributes the PoM line – only the connected equipment differs:
Site What is connected Result Installer's note Ventilation panel of an office building Sentera power module → RJ45; sensors and controllers → other RJ45 All devices are powered and accessible via Modbus Add up the currents of all devices – ≤1.5 A 3.3 VDC devices Devices with an RJ12 plug → RJ12 sockets Low-voltage devices receive 3.3 VDC and Modbus Never insert an RJ12 plug into an RJ45 socket System with an internet gateway DIG-M-2 / DIGWM → single RJ45 The whole system is accessible via SenteraWeb Include the module current Commissioning and adjustment CNVT-USB-RS485 converter → free RJ45 Configuration from a computer The converter does not use the RJ45 power contacts How to choose PoM distribution and power supply
Requirement Recommended model 6 RJ45 devices, surface mounting, IP65 MDB-M-6 (6 × RJ45, 1.5 A) Panel: 10 × RJ45 24 VDC + 12 × RJ12 3.3 VDC, -30…+85 °C DMDBM22 (DIN, 1.5 A) Panel: 10 × RJ45 24 VDC + 12 × RJ12 3.3 VDC (up to 0.3 A), 0…60 °C DLDBM22 (DIN, 1.5 A / 0.3 A) ← this model 24 VDC PoM supply from 85–264 VAC mains + RS485 repeater PDM-8-MB (2 × 24 VDC / 20 W) Rule: add up the currents of all connected devices (24 VDC and 3.3 VDC) – the total ≤1.5 A, the 3.3 VDC part ≤0.3 A. For outdoor or damp environments choose the MDB-M-6 (IP65), for power from 230 VAC – PDM-8-MB.When to choose another solution: for surface mounting and 6 devices – MDB-M-6 (IP65); for PoM power from the mains – PDM-8-MB; for a wider operating temperature range (-30…+85 °C) – DMDBM22.Pros
- 22 connectors in one DIN module
- Integrated 3.3 VDC source
- No configuration needed
- LED indication
- Star topology with UTP cables
Cons / limitations
- IP20 – in control panel only
- Total current is limited to 1.5 A, 3.3 VDC – to 0.3 A
- Operating environment 0…+60 °C – for unheated panels choose the DMDBM22
- It does not generate 24 VDC itself – a PoM power supply is required, e.g. PDM-8-MB
- Mixing up RJ12 and RJ45 plugs can damage 3.3 VDC devices
Safety and installation notes
- Installation and connection are to be carried out by a qualified electrician or automation specialist with the power disconnected.
- Attention: do not insert an RJ12 plug into an RJ45 socket – devices requiring 3.3 VDC may be damaged.
- Do not exceed a total current of 1.5 A and a 3.3 VDC current of 0.3 A.
- Use in an environment of 0…+60 °C, 5–85 % rH, non-condensing.
