  • Modular electronic fan speed controller | 2.5A | 230VAC | DIN rail | IP30 | Sentera Controls | DRX-1-25-AT

DRX-1-25-AT – Sentera Controls modular electronic fan speed controller with a knob on the front panel, for DIN rail mounting. Controls single-phase voltage-controllable AC motors up to 2.5 A.

    Key idea:
Manual speed controller for a control panel: the knob is on the panel front, so the speed can be changed without opening the panel cover and without installing a separate wall-mounted controller.
    What it is for DRX-1-25-AT:
This model is designed for medium-power fans (up to 2.5 A) – duct fans in offices, classrooms, retail premises or 2–3 smaller fans together.
    Max. motor current
    2.5 A
    Control
    Knob, max.→min.
    Power supply
    230 VAC ±10 %, 50–60 Hz
    Installation
    DIN rail (EN 50022), IP30

    Operating principle

The controller clips onto a DIN rail. Connect the power supply (L, N) and the motor (U, N); the unregulated L1 output (230 VAC, 0.5 A) can power a lamp or another small load.

Electronic control: the motor supply voltage is varied from 230 VAC down to the set minimum limit; the output voltage is not purely sinusoidal.

Turning the knob decreases the speed from maximum to minimum. Fully to the left – OFF position (with the supply connected to L1). The minimum voltage is set with a trimmer (factory setting 100 VAC).

Engineer's note: with an AC induction motor, reducing the voltage increases rotor losses, so the savings are lower than with an EC fan or a frequency inverter; when completely silent operation at low speed is essential, choose a transformer controller with a sinusoidal output voltage.

    Benefits DRX-1-25-AT?
Compact DIN module with a knob – a quick and tidy solution when fan control must be located in the control panel.

Original manufacturer documentation – technical data, wiring diagrams and installation instructions.

    Main functions

    • Knob on the control panel front – speed is changed without opening the control panel.
    • OFF position – the fan can be switched off with the same knob.
    • Adjustable min. speed – set with a trimmer so that the motor always starts.
    • Unregulated L1 output – for an indicator lamp or a small load up to 0.5 A.
    • Compact DIN module – takes up little space in the control panel.

    Where is it used?

    • Ventilation and automation control panels
    • Plant rooms, boiler rooms
    • Workshops and warehouses with a central control panel
    • Duct fans with AC motors

    On-demand operation

    For the panel builder.
Standard DIN module with a knob on the front.
    For the electrician.
    Simple connection, no programming.
    For maintenance staff.
Speed is changed directly in the control panel.

Application guide: how it is used in practice

    Typical DRX-1-25-AT applications:

Site What is connected Result Installer's note
Ventilation control panel Fan → U, N Speed is adjusted in the control panel Set the min. speed with the trimmer
Indication on the control panel front Lamp → L1 You can see that the fan is switched on L1 load – up to 0.5 A
Fan switch-off Supply to L1 (OFF mode) Knob fully to the left – fan switched off In that case, do not connect the supply to L

How to select the controller current

Rated current of the motor(s) Recommended model
    up to 1.5 A DRX-1-15-AT (1.5 A)
    1.5–2.5 A DRX-1-25-AT (2.5 A) ← this model
Rule: controller max. current ≥ motor rated current (see the motor nameplate). The starting current is already accounted for by the manufacturer; no additional margin is needed. When connecting several fans – motors of the same type – add up their rated currents.
When to choose another solution: for higher current or automation with 0-10 VDC / Modbus in a control panel – MVS-1 series (up to 10 A); for digital control with a display – DRE-1-25-DT; for wall mounting – MTXN0 / LTX series.

    Pros

    • Knob on a DIN module
    • OFF position
    • Adjustable min. speed
    • Unregulated L1 output
    • Very compact

    Cons / limitations

    • Low current – up to 2.5 A
    • L1 output only 0.5 A
    • No 0-10 VDC input and no Modbus
    • IP30 – in control panel only
    • The output voltage is non-sinusoidal – some motors may hum audibly at low speed

    Safety and installation notes

    • Installation and connection must be carried out by a qualified electrician with the power disconnected.
    • Check that the motor is suitable for voltage control and that its current does not exceed 2.5 A.
    • When using the OFF position, the supply is connected only to L1, not to L.
    • Intended for control panel installation only, indoors.

    Quick selection guide
