Network video recorder (NVR) | 32 channels | 4K | 4 HDD up to 10 TB | H.265+ | AcuSense | Alarm 16/4 | Hikvision DS-7732NXI-I4/S
The Hikvision DS-7732NXI-I4/S is a 32-channel network video recorder for a 19" rack (1.5U). It is an I-series AcuSense model with four drive bays, two network ports and extended alarm control.
Key point:
This NVR is designed for sites with 17–32 cameras and a long archive: 4 drives up to 10 TB each, hot-swap without stopping the system and eSATA for external storage. Two network ports let you separate the camera network from the office network, while 16 alarm inputs and 4 outputs link video to the security system and POS tills.Channels
32 IP, up to 12 MPStorage
4 SATA up to 10 TB + eSATABandwidth
256 MbpsAlarm I/O
16 inputs / 4 outputsConnectivity and integration
- 2 × RJ-45 10/100/1000 Mbps – The camera network can be separated from the corporate network – more secure and lower load.
- Hik-Connect and DDNS – Remote viewing on your phone and access without a static IP address.
- ONVIF, ISAPI, SDK – Integration with ONVIF cameras from other brands and video management software (e.g. HikCentral).
- Alarm I/O 16/4, RS-485 / RS-232 – Sensors, alarm panel, PTZ keyboard and POS systems.
- 4K HDMI and VGA – Monitor in the control room – HDMI up to 3840 × 2160, VGA up to 1920 × 1080.
How it works
Mount the unit in a 19" rack, fit up to 4 SATA drives, connect one network port to the camera PoE switches and the other to the corporate network. Wire sensors or alarm panel outputs to the alarm inputs.
The NVR accepts up to 32 streams totalling up to 256 Mbps and records them in H.265+. AcuSense perimeter protection on up to 4 channels filters people and vehicles, and facial recognition compares faces against libraries.
The result is a centralised video system for a large site: a long archive across several drives, events linked to alarms and access from the control room or a phone.
Why choose the DS-7732NXI-I4/S?
One 1.5U unit for 32 cameras with 4 drives, two networks and 16/4 alarm I/O – instead of several small NVRs and separate I/O modules.Technical specifications

- AcuSense perimeter protection – up to 4 channels, human and vehicle recognition, fewer false alarms.
- Facial recognition – face comparison against libraries and search by face.
- 4 hot-swap drives – a drive can be replaced without stopping recording on the others.
- eSATA – an external disk array to extend the archive.
- Alarm I/O 16/4 – extensive event logic without extra modules.
- POS integration – till transaction text overlaid on video and recording triggered by POS events.
- Smart search and playback – find events quickly in a large archive.
How does it differ from similar models?
- Hikvision DS-7616NI-K2 – 16 channels, 2 drives up to 10 TB, alarm I/O 4/1 – much cheaper for a medium site.
- Hikvision DS-7616NXI-K1(D) – 16-channel AcuSense, 1 drive up to 16 TB, compact 1U – for up to 16 cameras.
- Hikvision DS-7608NXI-K1/8P – 8 channels with 8 PoE ports – for a small site without a separate switch.
- IMOU NVR-N118W-8A0E – 18-channel Wi-Fi NVR for homes – a completely different class: no rack mounting, no alarm I/O and no 4 drives.
Where is it used?
- Factories and logistics centres
- Shopping centres and retail chains
- Hospitals and educational institutions
- Office complexes
- Car parks and fuel stations
- Municipal facilities
Use by need
For a security manager.
32 cameras, facial recognition at entrances and alarm events in one control room. For a retail chain IT administrator.
POS integration links till transactions with video, and two network ports isolate the camera network. For a systems integrator.
ONVIF, ISAPI and SDK let you bring the NVR into HikCentral or another VMS platform.Practical use
If a logistics centre runs 28 × 4 MP cameras and needs a 30-day archive, mount the DS-7732NXI-I4/S in the server rack, fit 4 × 10 TB drives, connect the camera PoE switches to the first network port and the corporate LAN to the second. Enable perimeter protection on the 4 fence cameras and wire the gate and door contacts to the alarm inputs.Pros
- 32 channels, cameras up to 12 MP
- 4 hot-swap SATA + eSATA
- 2 network ports for network separation
- Alarm I/O 16/4, RS-485 / RS-232
- AcuSense perimeter and facial recognition
- ONVIF, ISAPI, SDK – VMS integration
Cons / limitations
- Considerably more expensive than 16-channel models; for up to 16 cameras the DS-7616NXI-K1(D) or DS-7616NI-K2 is enough.
- No PoE ports – the camera network needs PoE switches.
- AcuSense perimeter protection by the NVR – up to 4 channels; more requires AcuSense cameras.
- Decoding – 16 × 1080p: all 32 channels will not display at full resolution at once.
- Requires a 19" rack and a ventilated server room.
Safety and installation notes
- Install the NVR in a dry, ventilated place – leave space for airflow in a cabinet or rack; operating temperature -10…+55 °C.
- Fit the hard drive only with the power disconnected; choose surveillance-grade HDDs designed for 24/7 operation.
- Power it from the source specified by the manufacturer (100–240 VAC); a UPS and surge protection are recommended – a power cut also stops recording.
- On first start-up set a strong admin password, enable Hik-Connect only if remote access is needed, and keep the firmware up to date.
- GDPR: set the retention period to what you really need, restrict access with user rights and mark the monitored area with signs.
- Use solid-copper CAT5e / CAT6 cable for PoE cameras (Ethernet limit – 100 m) and seal cable entries outdoors.
