Digital Overload and Asymmetry Controller | 150-260VAC | DIN Rail | 0.1-3A Digital Overload and Asymmetry Relay | 150-260 VAC | Precise Current and Phase Control
Digital Overload Controller – is a professional protection device designed to safeguard electrical loads (motors, pumps) from overcurrent damage, while providing convenient system control and monitoring capabilities. The device features high precision (current and time error only ±1%), adjustable trip delay (0.1 – 20s), and fixed phase asymmetry monitoring.
Comprehensive Protection Against Overcurrent and Phase ImbalanceThe device allows precise adjustment of the overload limit (0.1-3A) and trip delay (0.1-20s). It also features 50% phase asymmetry monitoring and three distinct reset modes: manual, semi-automatic, and automatic.

Function / Block Parameters / Modes Description / Purpose in System Overload Control (A>) Adjustable via knob (0.1 – 3A), accuracy ±1% In case of overcurrent, the device accurately detects overload and counts down the trip delay.
Trip Delay Adjustable (0.1 – 20s), accuracy ±1% Allows customizing response time, ignoring harmless temporary inrush surges. Start-up Delay Fixed 5-second delay Prevents false current tripping during device or motor start-up. Phase Asymmetry Fixed 50% difference limit (responds within 2s) Protects motors against phase loss or severe voltage/current imbalance. Reset Modes Manual, Semi-automatic, Automatic Selectable by long-pressing the SELECT button to suit application requirements. How Does the Controller Work?
- Wire the device according to the diagram and connect it to the power supply (set values are displayed on the screen for 5 seconds).
- Set the desired overload current threshold using the „A>“ knob, and the trip delay time (from 0.1 to 20 seconds) using the „t“ knob.
- When turned on, the relay triggers, switching the contact to Terminal 3, and the „OUT“ LED illuminates.
- If the current exceeds the set threshold, the „ERR“ LED lights up, and after the delay time expires, the relay switches off (contact transfers to Terminal 1).
- If a current difference greater than 50% between phases is detected, an asymmetry fault is triggered within 2 seconds, the screen of the corresponding phases flashes, and the error LED turns on.
Selecting Reset ModesPress and hold the SELECT button for 10 seconds to change the mode: Manual Mode (requires pressing the Reset button), Semi-automatic (resets automatically 3 times), or Automatic Mode (the system resets on its own).

- Exceptional Accuracy: Industrial-grade ±1% error margin for current and time measurements.
- Flexible Delay: Adjustable trip delay (up to 20s) allows precise alignment with motor operating characteristics.
- Dual Protection: Effectively safeguards against overcurrent and dangerous phase imbalance.
- Control Flexibility: Three reset modes and a clear 3x3 digit display.
Cons / Limitations
- Narrow Current Range: This model is intended only for low-current circuits (0.1 – 3A). Larger loads require other models or external current transformers.
- Fixed Asymmetry Limit: The phase asymmetry threshold is fixed at 50% and cannot be modified by the user.
- Not Designed for Humid Environments: The device should not be operated under high moisture or aggressive chemical exposure conditions.
- Relay Contact Limitation: Output contact is rated up to 5A / 250VAC resistive load; an additional contactor is required to directly control higher-power motors.
Suitable For (Applications)
- Protection of electric motors and pumps against overload
- Industrial control panels and automation systems requiring high precision
- Manufacturing equipment requiring phase asymmetry monitoring
Not Suitable For
- Continuous operation in humid or aggressively chemical environments
- High-power circuits exceeding the specified current and contact ratings
Practical Example
A three-phase pump operates on a production line, requiring constant protection against current overload and phase loss. This digital overload controller is installed in the control panel. After setting the overload limit to 0.1-3A and selecting semi-automatic reset mode, the device monitors pump operation. If the pump jams and the current exceeds the set threshold, the controller waits for the configured delay time, trips the relay, and protects the motor from burning out.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is the operating voltage of this controller? The device operates within a voltage range of 150V – 260V AC.
How do I change the device's Reset mode?Press and hold the SELECT button for 10 seconds until the mode LED indication changes.
Is the trip delay adjustable?
Yes, the trip delay can be adjusted in the range from 0.1 to 20 seconds.
Does the device protect against phase asymmetry?Yes, if the current difference between phases exceeds 50%, the device triggers an asymmetry fault within 2 seconds.
Important Safety Note for the InstallerWhen installing the device in a distribution panel, ensure you provide an adjacent separate power disconnect switch and a circuit breaker so the operator can quickly disconnect the device in case of emergency.
