Potentiometer for EC fan | Sentera Controls | MTVN1-010-NA
MTVN1-010-NA – Sentera Controls potentiometer for an EC fan, supplied directly from the 230 VAC mains. The 0-10 VDC control signal is set with the knob; no separate power supply module is needed.
Key idea:
The potentiometer has no OFF position: when the knob is turned fully anticlockwise, a minimum signal close to 0 V remains – suitable where a minimum air flow must be maintained.Power supply
230 VACOutput
0-10 VDCOFF position
NoneProtection
IP44 / IP54Operating principle
The potentiometer is connected directly to the 230 VAC mains, and the output signal – to the control input of an EC fan, actuator, AC controller or frequency inverter. No separate power supply module is needed.
This is not a power controller: only the potentiometer's own supply and signal current flows through it; the fan motor current does not flow through it.
The knob changes the output steplessly within 0-10 VDC. In the leftmost end position the signal remains minimal, close to 0 V but not equal to zero.
Engineer's note: since the signal never reaches exactly 0 V, the fan's behaviour at the min. signal (stops or runs at min. speed) is determined by the settings of the EC fan itself.
Benefits MTVN1-010-NA?
Supply directly from the 230 VAC mains saves a 24 V power supply unit and additional wiring – the potentiometer is installed like a normal switch.Technical specifications
Product type Potentiometer for an EC fan, supplied with 230 VAC Manufacturer / code Sentera Controls / MTVN1-010-NA Series MTVN1 (NA – 0-10 VDC without OFF, PM – with OFF, CP – with dry contact) Supply voltage 230 VAC Output signal 0-10 VDC OFF position None (min. signal close to 0 V) Terminals Screw-type, 2 rubber cable glands Installation Flush-mounted (standard European box) or surface-mounted Protection class IP44 flush-mounted / IP54 surface-mounted Main functions
- Supply 230 VAC – no separate power supply unit – directly from the mains.
- Stepless 0-10 VDC signal – the speed changes steplessly.
- No OFF position – a minimum airflow is maintained.
- UV-resistant enclosure – white plastic, protection against dust, splashes and impacts, IP44 / IP54.
Where is it used?
- Offices, shops, workspaces without 24 V automation
- EC duct and roof fans
- AC fans with Sentera EVS / MVS controllers
- FI-E frequency inverters
- Damper actuators
On-demand operation
For the electrician.

Suitable for EC fans, AC controllers and frequency inverters.For the user.
A simple knob in the room.Application guide: how it is used in practice
MTVN1-010-NA can be adapted to different sites – only what is connected to its output changes:
Site What is connected Result Installer's note Office with an EC duct fan 230 VAC → L, N; signal → EC fan control input Manual ventilation control without a 24 V unit Route signal and mains cables separately AC fan with a Sentera EVS / MVS controller 0-10 VDC → controller analogue input Potentiometer in the room, controller in the control panel Signal GND – to the controller GND FI-E frequency inverter 0-10 VDC → inverter analogue input Manual three-phase fan speed setting Check the inverter input configuration How to select the controller current
Rated current of the motor(s) Recommended model Continuous min. flow needed (no OFF), 0-10 VDC only MTVN1-010-NA (no OFF, 0-10 VDC) ← this model OFF and selectable 0-10 V / 0-20 mA / PWM needed MTVN1-010-PM (OFF, Vmin / Vmax) Dry contact and selectable signal needed MTVN1-010-CP (dry contact, Vmin / Vmax) Rule: The MTVN1 series is suitable when 230 VAC is available in the room but there is no 24 V supply. Choose as needed: only simple 0-10 VDC without OFF – NA; OFF and signal type selection needed – PM; dry contact needed – CP. Motor power has no influence on the selection.When to choose another solution: with Modbus RTU and 230 VAC supply – SPV-8 series (PM / CP / MF); with a display and stepped mode – RDCV9-AD; low DC voltage supplied – SDP-E0US or MTP series; for AC fans – EVS or MVS controllers controlled by this potentiometer.Pros
- Simple 0-10 VDC signal
- Continuous min. ventilation
- Supplied directly from 230 VAC
- Flush-mounted or surface-mounted installation
- UV-resistant enclosure, IP44 / IP54
Cons / limitations
- No OFF position
- 0-10 VDC only, no limit trimmers
- The terminals carry 230 VAC: installation by a qualified electrician only
- No Modbus RTU
Safety and installation notes
- Installation and connection must be carried out by a qualified electrician with the supply to all connected devices disconnected.
- The terminals carry 230 VAC – connect only with the supply disconnected, observing electrical safety requirements.
- Route signal cables separately from power cables.
- IP54 is ensured only when the surface-mounted enclosure is correctly installed with seals.
- Clean only with a damp cloth.
Quick selection guide
230 VAC0-10 VDCbe OFFIP44 / IP54Suitable when you need:- control an EC fan when only 230 VAC is available;
- control an AC controller or frequency inverter from the room;
- maintain min. airflow.
Check before use:- the input type of the controlled device (0-10 V, 0-20 mA or PWM);
- whether an OFF position or a dry contact is needed;
- whether Modbus is required – if so, the SPV-8 series.
Important reminder: MTVN1-010-NA is a control signal source, not a power controller – the motor current does not flow through it.FAQ
Is a 24 V power supply unit required?
No, the potentiometer is supplied directly from 230 VAC.Does it have an OFF position?
No – in the end position the signal is close to 0 V.Can it be used with a frequency inverter?
Yes, Sentera specifies FI-E series frequency inverters.Does it have Modbus?
