Potentiometer for EC fan with OFF position | Sentera Controls | SDP-E0US-AT
SDP-E0US-AT – Sentera Controls potentiometer with OFF position, designed for EC fans and other equipment requiring a stepless control signal. Supplied with 5–24 VDC, the Ao output is switched by jumper to voltage (0–100 % Us), current (0–20 mA) or PWM (1 kHz) mode; the min. and max. limits are set with two trimmers.
Key idea:
One knob performs two functions: turned fully to the left, the fan is switched off (OFF); turned clockwise, the speed changes steplessly from the set minimum to the maximum.Power supply

IP44 flush-mounted / IP54 surface-mountedOperating principle
The potentiometer is installed in the room where the operator wants to change the ventilation intensity, while the controlled EC fan or controller may be in a technical room. A 5–24 VDC supply (Us, GND) and the output signal (Ao, GND) are connected to the EC motor control input.
This is not a power controller: only signal current flows through the potentiometer (own current consumption – 19 mA). The EC fan electronics change the motor speed themselves according to the received 0-10 V, 0-20 mA or PWM command, so the motor power has no influence on the choice of potentiometer.
The output type is selected by jumper: voltage 0–100 % Us (load RL ≥ 50 kΩ), current 0–20 mA (RL ≤ 500 Ω) or PWM 1 kHz with a 3.3 VDC or 12 VDC level (RL ≥ 50 kΩ). The MIN trimmer is set to 0–80 % Us, MAX – 20–100 % Us; a control range of no less than 20 % is always maintained between them. If MIN is set higher than MAX, the control is reversed (from max. to min.).
Engineer's note: in voltage mode the output is proportional to the supply voltage. With a 10 VDC supply a 0–10 V signal is obtained; with a 24 VDC supply the output must be limited with the MAX trimmer (≈ 42 % Us ≈ 10 V) so that the EC motor's 0-10 V input does not receive excessive voltage. In the OFF position (knob fully anticlockwise) the fan is stopped.
Benefits SDP-E0US-AT?
One potentiometer suits 0-10 V, 0-20 mA and PWM controlled EC fans and actuators, and the limits are set on site with trimmers – no computer or programming needed.Technical specifications

Main functions
- Three output types – 0–100 % Us, 0–20 mA or PWM 1 kHz – one model for various EC fans and actuators.
- MIN / MAX trimmers – the minimum speed ensures the hygienic air volume, the maximum limits noise and airflow.
- Reverse control – if MIN is set higher than MAX, the signal decreases as the knob is turned clockwise.
- Wide supply range 5–24 VDC – suitable for 10 VDC, 12 VDC or 24 VDC sources.
- OFF position – when the knob is turned fully to the left, the signal is cut off and the fan stops.
- Universal enclosure – flush-mounted (IP44) or surface-mounted (IP54) installation, protected against water splashes.
Where is it used?
- Heat recovery units and extract fans with EC motors for apartments and houses
- Offices, meeting rooms, classrooms – manual control of ventilation intensity
- Damper actuators with 0-10 V / 0-20 mA control
- Plant rooms where the controller or fan is far from the user
- Control signal for Sentera EVS / MVS controllers or FI-E frequency inverters

Motor power and current have no influence on the selection – only the control input load matters (≥ 50 kΩ in voltage and PWM mode, ≤ 500 Ω in current mode). Several EC fans in parallel – only if the total input resistance meets this limit.When to choose another solution: For Modbus RTU control and settings – SDP-M010 series (AT / BT / DC); for supply directly from the 230 VAC mains – SPV-8 or MTVN1 series; for digital control with display and steps – RDCV9-AD; for AC fans – electronic EVS-1 controllers.Pros
- OFF position to switch off the fan
- Three output types: voltage, current, PWM
- Wide supply range 5–24 VDC
- MIN / MAX limits and reverse control with trimmers
- Low current consumption – 19 mA
- Flush-mounted IP44 or surface-mounted IP54 installation
Cons / limitations
- A separate 5–24 VDC supply is required – cannot be supplied directly from 230 VAC
- In voltage mode the output equals % of Us – with a 24 VDC supply, MAX must be limited
- No Modbus RTU – settings are changed only with trimmers
- This is a signal source – it does not directly control AC motor speed
Safety and installation notes
- Installation and connection must be carried out by a qualified electrician with the supply to all connected devices disconnected.
- Supply voltage – no higher than 24 VDC; connecting 230 VAC to the terminals is prohibited.
- Before switching on the EC fan, check the output voltage – it must not exceed the permissible limit of the motor control input.
- Observe the load limits: ≥ 50 kΩ in voltage and PWM mode, ≤ 500 Ω in current mode.
- Use at a temperature of 0–50 °C with relative humidity < 95 % non-condensing.
Quick selection guide
5–24 VDC0-10 V / 0-20 mA / PWMOFFIP44 / IP54For EC fansSuitable when you need:- control EC fan speed manually and steplessly;
- set the min. and max. speed without programming;
- switch off the fan with the same knob;
Check before use:- the EC fan control input type (0-10 V, 0-20 mA or PWM) and its impedance;
- the available 5–24 VDC power source;
- whether an OFF position, a dry contact or Modbus RTU is needed.
Important reminder: SDP-E0US-AT is a control signal source, not a power controller – the motor current does not flow through it.FAQ
Does it have an OFF position?
Yes, by turning the knob fully counter-clockwise.Can it be powered from 230 VAC?
No. A 5–24 VDC source is required; for a 230 VAC supply choose the SPV-8 or MTVN1 series.How do I get an exact 0-10 V signal?
Supply 10 VDC or, when supplying a higher voltage, limit the output to 10 V with the MAX trimmer.Is it suitable for PWM-controlled fans?
Yes, by selecting PWM mode with a jumper (1 kHz, 3.3 VDC or 12 VDC level).Can it control several EC fans?
Yes, provided the total resistance of the parallel-connected control inputs is within the load limits.Can the control direction be reversed?
