Suspension clamp for overhead lines – a hot-dip galvanized fastening element made of Q235 carbon steel, designed to suspend and stabilize overhead line conductors on poles and insulator systems. The smooth, rounded support surface helps reduce the risk of mechanical damage to the conductor at the fixing point. The overall clamp length is 200mm, height 82mm, weight 1.8kg, and the specified failure load is ≥40kN.

  • Suspension clamp for overhead lines | Q235 steel | hot-dip galvanized | 200mm | ≥40kN

Suspension clamp designed to mechanically support and stabilize overhead power line conductors at suspension points. It is used on straight sections of overhead lines where the conductor must be securely attached to an insulator or support structure while maintaining its intended operating position.

The clamp is manufactured from Q235 carbon steel and protected by a hot-dip galvanized coating. The rounded, smooth conductor support surface is designed to reduce localized mechanical stress and help protect the conductor against unnecessary damage at the fastening point.

For conductor suspension and stabilization in overhead lines

The suspension clamp forms a mechanical support point between the overhead line conductor and the insulator or support suspension system. It helps maintain the conductor position and transfer mechanical loads to the supporting structure.

    Operating principle

The overhead line conductor is placed into the lower support section of the clamp and mechanically secured by the upper fastening elements. In this way, the conductor is maintained in its intended position, while part of its weight, wind load and other operating loads are transferred through the clamp to the insulator and support structure.

The suspension clamp is primarily intended to support and suspend the conductor.

    Suspension clamp

The main function of this product is to hold the conductor at the suspension point and transfer vertical and part of the lateral loads to the support structure.

    Smooth conductor support surface

The section of the clamp body that contacts the conductor is formed with a smooth and rounded surface. This helps avoid sharp contact points and reduces the risk of mechanically damaging the conductor at the fastening point.

This design is particularly important in overhead lines where the conductor is continuously affected by wind, vibration and temperature-related changes in length.

Conductor protection at the fastening point

The rounded geometry of the clamp helps distribute mechanical contact over a larger surface area and reduce concentrated pressure on the conductor.

    Q235 steel construction

The main material of the product is Q235 carbon structural steel. The metal construction is designed to transfer the mechanical loads present in overhead line systems and provide stable conductor fastening.

    Hot-dip galvanizing

The clamp surface is protected by hot-dip galvanizing. The zinc layer protects the steel from direct atmospheric exposure and improves corrosion resistance under outdoor operating conditions.

This type of surface protection is widely used for overhead line fittings that are exposed for long periods to humidity, precipitation, temperature changes and other atmospheric conditions.

    • Systems whose operating load has not been technically evaluated
    • Damaged or severely deformed conductors

    Practical application example

On a straight section of an overhead power line, the conductor must be attached to an intermediate support. An insulator suspension system complying with the project requirements is installed on the support.

A suspension clamp is connected to this system. The conductor is placed into the rounded support section of the clamp and secured using the fastening elements provided by the product design.

During operation, the weight of the conductor and part of the atmospheric mechanical loads are transferred through the clamp to the insulator and support structure.

The conductor diameter, clamp type and mechanical parameters of the complete suspension system must be selected according to the specific overhead line design.

    Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

    What is a suspension clamp?

It is a mechanical component for overhead lines designed to suspend and stabilize a conductor on a support or insulator suspension system.

What material is the clamp made from?

    Q235 carbon steel.

    Is the clamp galvanized?

Yes. The surface is hot-dip galvanized.

Why is a smooth clamp surface important?

A smooth and rounded contact surface helps reduce concentrated pressure on the conductor and the risk of mechanical damage.

What is the length of the clamp?

According to the supplied drawing, the overall length L is 200mm.

What is the height of the clamp?

    H – 82mm.

    What is the product weight?

    1.8kg.

    What breaking load is specified?

    ≥40kN.

Is the clamp suitable for outdoor use?

Important installation and mechanical safety information

The suspension clamp must be selected according to the specific conductor type and diameter, the design mechanical loads of the overhead line, the insulator system used and the support structure. Before installation, the condition and compatibility of all fastening components must be checked.

The ≥40kN breaking load stated in the drawing must not be used directly as the permissible working load. The final mechanical strength of the suspension system is determined by the clamp, conductor, fastening components, insulator and support structure.
