    DRPS8-24-40 – a Sentera Controls switch-mode power supply converting the 85–264 VAC mains voltage into a stable 24 VDC, up to 40 W (Imax 1.67 A). DIN rail mounted, it has two terminal and two RJ45 outputs – 24 VDC can also be distributed via a Power over Modbus cable.

    Key idea:
    Sentera sensors, controllers and control panels must be powered at 24 VDC. This power supply is designed for exactly that: through the RJ45 socket a single cable can carry both power and the Modbus RTU line, making installation faster and neater.

    Operating principle

    The power supply is mounted on a DIN rail in the panel. Mains voltage 85–264 VAC, 50–60 Hz is connected to terminals L and N. Outputs: 1 and 2 – terminals (+24 V, GND), 3 and 4 – RJ45 sockets (pin 1 – 24 VDC, 3 – Modbus A, 5 – Modbus /B, 7 – GND). The terminal block duplicates the RJ45 connector – the total load is the sum of the loads of all outputs and must not exceed 40 W.

    The switching converter produces a stable 24 VDC voltage. Compared with linear sources, such a supply is more efficient, runs cooler, and is lighter and more compact. Overvoltage and overload protection operates in "hiccup" mode: during an overload the supply briefly switches off and tries to restart, and once the fault is removed, operation resumes automatically.

    Result – Sentera sensors, controllers and control panels receive a stable 24 VDC voltage from a single supply, and after an overload operation recovers without human intervention. Engineer's note: when calculating the load, add up the maximum power of all connected devices and leave a margin.
