Switch-mode power supply | 85-264VAC/24VDC | 36W | 1.5A | DIN rail | IP20 | Sentera Controls | DHDR8-24-36
DHDR8-24-36 – a Sentera Controls DIN rail switching 24 VDC / 36 W power supply with a universal 85–264 VAC input. Intended for powering transmitters, controllers, Modbus devices and pushbuttons in building and industrial automation.
Key idea:
A narrow (35 mm) 24 VDC power supply with short-circuit, overvoltage and overload protection – a reliable “heart” of the automation cabinet.Output
24 VDC, 0–1.5 APower
36 WInput
85–264 VAC, 47–63 HzInstallation
DIN TS-35, width 35 mm, IP20Operating principle
The power supply is mounted on a TS-35/7.5 or TS-35/15 DIN rail and is only 35 mm wide. The mains is connected to terminals L and N, the load to +V and -V (24 VDC); the universal 85–264 VAC, 47–63 Hz input allows the same power supply to be used in different networks.
Output 24 VDC, current 0–1.5 A, rated power 36 W, natural convection cooling without a fan. In an overload, constant current limiting operates and the supply recovers automatically once the fault is removed; overvoltage protection resets when the power is switched back on, and the LED indicates that power is on.
Result – a stable 24 VDC power supply for sensors, controllers and Modbus devices with low losses at no load (< 0.3 W). The permissible load decreases at higher ambient temperature (see the derating curves in the datasheet), so leave a power margin in a hot cabinet.
Benefits DHDR8-24-36?
Universal input, three types of protection, low no-load consumption (< 0.3 W) and only 35 mm wide – takes little space in the cabinet.Technical specifications

Where is it used?
- 24 VDC supply for sensors and controllers
- Ventilation and heating automation cabinets
- Building automation (BMS)
- Modbus devices without Power over Modbus
- Production automation
- Button and indication circuits
- Unheated technical cabinets (-30…+70 °C)
On-demand operation
For the control panel manufacturer.
A 35 mm wide housing and class B EMC emission – compact and tidy panel.For industrial electricians.
The universal 85–264 VAC input and operation at -30…+70 °C also suit unheated production cabinets.For the transmitter installer.
1.5 A at 24 VDC – for several pressure or CO₂ transmitters with a reserve.Practical application
If a 24 VDC controller and four transmitters with a total current of about 1 A have to be powered in a ventilation cabinet, then the DHDR8-24-36 (36 W, 1.5 A) powers them with a reserve and takes up only 35 mm of the DIN rail.Application guide: how it is used in practice
The DHDR8-24-36 powers 24 VDC automation – only the list of connected devices changes:
Site What is connected Result Installer's note Ventilation automation cabinet 24 VDC controller, sensors → +V / -V One power supply for all low-voltage automation Add up the currents – up to 1.5 A Pressure / CO₂ transmitters Multiple 24 VDC transmitters Stable power supply for analog signals Allow for derating in a hot cabinet Modbus network without PoM 24 VDC Modbus devices Power via a separate wire When PoM and a repeater are needed – DPOM8-24-20 Buttons and indication 24 VDC pushbuttons, indicator lamps Safe low voltage for control circuits IP20 – install in a cabinet How to choose a power supply
Connected devices / power Recommended model 24 VDC devices, up to 36 W DHDR8-24-36 (24 VDC, 36 W, 1.5 A) ← this model Modbus devices with PoM, 24 VDC up to 20 W + repeater DPOM8-24-20 (24 VDC, 20 W, PoM) 24 VAC devices, up to 25 / 40 / 63 VA SATD1-24-25 / -40 / -63 (24 VAC) 12 VAC devices, up to 25 / 40 / 63 VA SATD1-12-25 / -40 / -63 (12 VAC) Rule: the sum of the currents of all 24 VDC devices must not exceed 1.5 A (36 W); in a hot cabinet leave a margin for derating.When to choose another solution: For Modbus devices with Power over Modbus and a line repeater – DPOM8-24-20; for 12 / 24 VAC alternating voltage – SATD1 series transformers.Pros
- Universal 85–264 VAC input
- Short-circuit, overvoltage and overload protection
- Convection cooling
- Only 35 mm wide
- Operation -30…+70 °C
- Low consumption with no load
Cons / limitations
- Power limited to 36 W (1.5 A)
- IP20 – in a cabinet only
- No Power over Modbus or Modbus repeater – the DPOM8-24-20 is intended for that
- Power decreases at high temperature
Safety and installation notes
- Installation and connection are to be carried out by a qualified electrician with the mains supply disconnected.
- Hazardous mains voltage is present on terminals L and N.
- IP20 – install only in an enclosed, dry cabinet without condensation.
- Leave room for convection cooling around the source.
Quick selection guide
24 VDC36 W1.5 ADIN railIP20Suitable when you need:- to power 24 VDC sensors and controllers;
- to install the power supply in an automation cabinet on a DIN rail;
- to use a universal 85–264 VAC mains.
Check before use:- the sum of the currents of all loads (up to 1.5 A);
- the temperature in the cabinet;
- whether Power over Modbus is needed – then DPOM8-24-20.
Important reminder: The DHDR8-24-36 is only a power supply; it does not boost the Modbus signal or pass it through RJ45.FAQ
