  • Two-Component Clear Silicone Gel for Electronics | RTV-2 | 1:1 Mix Ratio | −60…+250 °C | 1 kg | Elsp-1-2VTR

    Elsp-1-2VTR is a liquid two-component RTV-2 silicone gel for potting and sealing electronic assemblies. Parts A and B are mixed at a 1:1 ratio, and the mix cures at room temperature into a clear, flexible gel that encapsulates the PCB, LED module or connector and protects it from moisture, dust and vibration.

    Key point:
    Outdoors, in damp rooms or on vibrating equipment, electronics usually fail not because of a faulty component but because of condensation and corrosion. A clear gel seals the assembly off from the environment while keeping it visible: LED light passes through, and the condition of the board can be checked without taking it apart.

    How it works

    Parts A and B are weighed out in equal amounts and mixed thoroughly. The liquid mix is poured into the enclosure, junction box or mould, where it flows by itself into the gaps between components, wires and connectors.

    Vulcanisation takes place at room temperature: the mix turns from a liquid into a soft, flexible gel. No heating is required, so fully assembled units with heat-sensitive components can be potted.

    The cured gel stays flexible across the entire −60…+250 °C range. It does not crack under thermal cycling and does not put stress on solder joints, as rigid epoxy resins can.

    Why choose Elsp-1-2VTR?
    Simple 1:1 dosing without gram-accurate scales, clarity for LEDs and indicators, a wide temperature range and flexible protection that does not damage sensitive components.

    Key features

    • Protection against moisture and condensation – the gel seals the board and reduces the risk of corrosion and leakage currents.
    • Clarity – LED light and indicators remain visible, and the assembly can be inspected without dismantling.
    • Flexibility – dampens vibration and puts no mechanical stress on solder joints.
    • Wide temperature range – from −60 °C outdoors in winter to +250 °C next to hot-running components.
    • Simple 1:1 dosing – lower risk of error than with 10:1 or 100:1 systems.
    • Cures without heating – fully assembled units can be potted on site.

    Applications

    • LED modules, LED strip end caps and outdoor luminaire boards
    • LED driver and controller boards
    • Sensors and transducers outdoors or in damp rooms
    • Wire connections in junction boxes and cable joints
    • Low-voltage and automation electronics operating under vibration
    • Electronics in vehicles, agricultural and livestock equipment
    • Protection of one-off devices and prototypes in the workshop

    Gel, rigid compound or coating?

    • Silicone gel – when flexibility, vibration damping, clarity and the option to repair the assembly later are important.
    • Rigid potting compound (silicone or epoxy) – when the assembly needs mechanical strength and protection against impact or tampering.
    • Conformal coating – when a thin layer of moisture protection is sufficient and low weight and volume matter.

    Use by application

    For luminaire manufacturers and installers.
    The clear gel protects the LED board from moisture, while light output and indicators remain visible.
    For electronics manufacturers.
    The simple 1:1 ratio reduces the risk of dosing errors, and the flexible gel allows the assembly to be opened and repaired if needed. For series production, please agree technical data and quantities with us before ordering.
    For automation integrators.
    Field sensor and controller boards stay dry and vibration-resistant without expensive hermetic enclosures.

    Practical example

    If the controller of an outdoor LED floodlight or façade luminaire fails every autumn due to condensation, clean and dry the board, then pour Elsp-1-2VTR gel over it up to the top of the components. The assembly then stays sealed, the LED indicators remain visible, and thermal cycling does not crack the gel.

    Pros

    • Simple 1:1 mixing
    • Clear – suitable for LEDs and indicators
    • Operating temperature −60…+250 °C
    • Flexible, dampens vibration
    • Cures without heating
    • Available from 1 kg

    Cons / limitations

    • Soft gel is not mechanical protection – the assembly needs an enclosure
    • Not a structural adhesive – does not hold parts in place
    • Mixed material cannot be stored – mix only as much as you will use in one go
    • Where a certified flammability rating (e.g. UL94) is required, choose a material with that certification

    Safety and installation notes

    • Disconnect the power and allow the assembly to cool down before potting.
    • Surfaces must be clean, dry and free of flux, oil and grease residues.
    • Weigh out parts A and B at exactly 1:1 and mix until the blend is homogeneous. Scrape the sides and bottom of the container as well.
    • Pour slowly from a single point so that air bubbles can escape.
    • Some enclosure, insulation and flux materials can inhibit the cure of two-component silicone. Always run a small test first with any new combination of materials.
    • Work in a ventilated area and wear gloves. Do not pour the mix down the drain.

    Suitable when you need to:
    • protect electronics from moisture, dust and vibration;
    • keep LEDs or indicators visible;
    • use a flexible rather than rigid potting compound.
    Check before use:
    • whether the enclosure and component materials inhibit the silicone cure (run a test);
    • how much compound you need based on the internal volume of the enclosure;
    • whether your project requires a certified flammability rating.
    Important reminder: the gel does not replace a suitable enclosure, IP-rated sealing or electrical protective devices. It only provides additional protection for the electronics.

    FAQ

    What ratio should the components be mixed at?
    Parts A and B are mixed in equal amounts – 1:1.
    Does it need heat to cure?
    No. It is an RTV silicone and cures at room temperature.
    Does the gel stay clear after curing?
    Yes, which makes it suitable for LED modules and indicators.
    Can the gel be removed for repair?
    Yes. Flexible gel comes away from the board more easily than rigid epoxy resin.
    What temperatures can a potted assembly operate at?
    The cured gel is rated for the −60…+250 °C range.
    How long can an unopened pack be stored?
    12 months in the unopened original packaging.
