Network video recorder (NVR) | 8 channels | 8 PoE | 4K | 1 HDD up to 10 TB | H.265+ | AcuSense | Hikvision DS-7608NXI-K1/8P
The Hikvision DS-7608NXI-K1/8P is an 8-channel network video recorder with 8 PoE ports. Each IP camera connects directly to the NVR with one UTP cable that carries both video and power.
Key point:
The built-in PoE switch saves a separate switch, power supplies and installation time – the system works on a plug-and-play basis. It is the best choice for a new site with 4–8 cameras where all cables run to one place. The total PoE budget is up to 75 W, so add up camera consumption, especially with IR or heaters.Channels
8 IP, up to 12 MPPoE
8 ports, up to 75 WStorage
1 SATA up to 10 TBOutputs
HDMI 4K + VGAConnectivity and integration
- 8 PoE ports (IEEE 802.3af/at) – Cameras receive power and data over one cable; total power up to 75 W, port speed 10/100 Mbps.
- RJ-45 LAN 10/100/1000 Mbps – A separate port for connecting the NVR to the router and for remote access.
- Hik-Connect app – Live view, recordings and notifications on your phone (iOS / Android).
- ONVIF Profile S/G and ISAPI – ONVIF cameras from other brands can be added; check the specific model's compatibility.
- 4K HDMI and VGA – A monitor connects directly; HDMI up to 3840 × 2160 / 30 Hz, VGA up to 1920 × 1080 / 60 Hz.
How it works
Fit a SATA drive (up to 10 TB), connect cameras with CAT5e / CAT6 cables to the 8 PoE ports, the LAN port to the router and a monitor via HDMI or VGA.
Hikvision cameras on the PoE ports are detected and activated automatically. The NVR records up to 8 streams (up to 80 Mbps total) in H.265+, and AcuSense filters motion into people and vehicles.
The result is a tidy system with no extra power supplies at the cameras: one device in the cabinet, an archive on the drive and access from your phone.
Why choose the DS-7608NXI-K1/8P?
One device instead of an NVR, a PoE switch and 8 power supplies – fewer connections, fewer failure points and faster installation.Technical specifications

- 8 PoE ports – camera power and data over one cable, no separate adapters.
- Plug & Play – Hikvision cameras on the PoE ports connect automatically.
- Motion Detection 2.0 – human and vehicle classification, fewer false notifications.
- Perimeter protection and facial recognition – by the NVR; up to 16 face libraries and 20,000 pictures.
- H.265+ – up to 75 % less storage required, according to the manufacturer.
- Smart search and playback – find events by people or vehicles.
How does it differ from similar models?
- Hikvision DS-7608NXI-K1(D)/Alarm4+1 – 8 channels without PoE, but with alarm I/O 4/1 and a drive up to 16 TB; cheaper.
- Hikvision DS-7604NXI-K1 – 4 channels without PoE, 40 Mbps – the cheapest Hikvision NVR in our range.
- Hikvision DS-7616NXI-K1(D) – 16 channels without PoE, drive up to 16 TB – when you have more than 8 cameras.
- IMOU NVR1108HS-W-S2 – 8-channel Wi-Fi NVR for homes; cameras connect wirelessly, no PoE and no AcuSense.
Where is it used?
- New-build private houses
- Small shops and cafés
- Car workshops and garages
- Offices and clinics
- Farm buildings and storerooms
- Country homes with several outdoor cameras
Use by need
For a new home owner.
All camera cables run to one NVR – no power sockets needed at the cameras under the eaves. For an electrician installing a first CCTV system.
Plug & Play with Hikvision cameras – less configuration, fewer mistakes. For a café owner.
Up to 8 cameras in the dining area, at the till and at the entrance – one device in the technical cabinet.Practical use
If you are fitting 6 outdoor 4 MP cameras in a new house, connect each camera with one CAT6 cable (up to 100 m) to the PoE ports of the DS-7608NXI-K1/8P. Check that the 6 cameras' consumption (e.g. 6–7 W each) stays within the 75 W budget, fit a 4–6 TB drive – and the system runs without a single extra power supply.Pros
- 8 built-in PoE ports (802.3af/at)
- Cameras up to 12 MP, 4K HDMI
- AcuSense: Motion Detection 2.0, perimeter, facial recognition
- ONVIF Profile S/G – cameras from other brands too
- Less equipment and fewer connections in the cabinet
- Compact 1U chassis
Cons / limitations
- Total PoE budget up to 75 W: may not be enough for more powerful cameras (PTZ, with heaters).
- Only 1 SATA bay, up to 10 TB; for a larger archive – DS-7616NXI-K1(D) (up to 16 TB).
- No alarm I/O; if needed – DS-7608NXI-K1(D)/Alarm4+1.
- PoE port speed is 10/100 Mbps (enough for cameras, not for other network devices).
Safety and installation notes
- Install the NVR in a dry, ventilated place – leave space for airflow in a cabinet or rack; operating temperature -10…+55 °C.
- Fit the hard drive only with the power disconnected; choose surveillance-grade HDDs designed for 24/7 operation.
- Power it from the source specified by the manufacturer (48 VDC, 1.875 A); a UPS and surge protection are recommended – a power cut also stops recording.
- On first start-up set a strong admin password, enable Hik-Connect only if remote access is needed, and keep the firmware up to date.
- GDPR: set the retention period to what you really need, restrict access with user rights and mark the monitored area with signs.
- Use solid-copper CAT5e / CAT6 cable for PoE cameras (Ethernet limit – 100 m) and seal cable entries outdoors.
Quick selection guide
8 IP channels8 PoE up to 75 W1 HDD up to 10 TB4K HDMISuitable when you need:- a new 4–8 camera system without a separate PoE switch
- tidy installation with one cable per camera
- AcuSense filtering on a small site
Check before use:- total camera power – up to 75 W
