Active lightning rod | stainless steel | 200kA | 4000 mm | R74 m | dt-40 μs | LAP BX-125
Code: LVGLAP-BX125Active lightning rod designed for the protection of buildings, industrial facilities, solar power plants, warehouses, commercial buildings, and infrastructure against direct lightning strikes. The active operation technology allows more efficient interception of lightning discharges and creates a larger protection zone compared to traditional passive lightning rods.
An active lightning rod is most commonly used in facilities where human safety, protection of electrical systems, protection of production equipment, reduction of fire risk, protection of sensitive electronics from overvoltage, and lightning strike protection are important.

Active lightning attraction – accelerates leader formation and “captures” the lightning discharge, directing it to the grounding system
Large protection radius – one device can protect a large area, reducing the need for additional lightning rods
High resistance – ensures safe operation even during strong lightning discharges
Fast activation – enables more effective interception compared to passive solutions
Durable construction – stainless steel body resistant to corrosion, UV radiation, and extreme weather conditions
Easy mast mounting – adapted to standard lightning protection systemsApplications
For electricians: easy-to-install solution integrated into standard grounding systems
For engineers/designers: allows project optimization – fewer lightning rods, larger protection area
For farmers/business owners: protects assets, equipment, and buildings from costly lightning damage
For residential users: suitable for private houses, especially in open areas or elevated locationsUse Cases
On residential building roofs – protects the entire building from lightning strikes
On warehouses or industrial buildings – protects equipment and personnel
On farm buildings – protects grain, feed, or machinery storage
On solar power plants – protects inverters and modules
On fuel stations, biogas or chemical facilities – critical safety measure
On administrative buildings, schools, hospitals – ensures human safetyAdvantages
Large protection radius
High resistance
Fast operation
Durable stainless steel construction
Reduced number of installation points
Suitable for both industrial and residential applications
More efficient than passive lightning rods
Reliable solution for critical infrastructureDisadvantages
Requires professional installation
Needs a high-quality grounding system
Design must comply with lightning protection standardsFAQ
What is the difference between an active and a conventional lightning rod?
The active model reacts faster and increases the protection zone, making it more effective. Is grounding required?
Yes, without a proper grounding system the lightning rod cannot safely dissipate the discharge. Is it suitable for a private house?
Yes, especially if the house is in an open area or higher than its surroundings. What is the service life?
Due to the stainless steel construction, the service life is long – when properly installed, it can operate for decades.Illustrative image may have been created using AI. Please refer to the technical specification.Active lightning protection – the active lightning rod is raised at the highest point of the building. This system attracts the forming lightning and directs all the current away from other elements of the building. The activity occurs only during a lightning discharge. When choosing an active lightning rod, pay attention to whether the lightning receiver has electronics (can withstand up to 115kA, but may fail if the discharge exceeds the limits) or no electronics (can withstand any strength and number of lightning discharges). Used for the protection of industrial complexes, buildings, residential houses, estates, warehouses, and stadiums.

Passive lightning protection – metal elements installed on the roof (traditional "Franklin" lightning rod). During a lightning strike, the current flows through this metal system into the ground. Typically, galvanized steel wire is used, which is laid along the entire roof length and dropped to the ground. Occasionally, copper wire is used, but due to cost differences, users usually opt for steel, which is cheaper. Around the building, a galvanized steel grounding strip is laid underground.

A lightning rod protects buildings and people from the effects of lightning, but does not protect equipment. Therefore, it is essential to install surge protection.
