  • Decorative acoustic square-element panel – 605×600×18 mm, MDF + PET, engineered wood veneer, smoked oak imitation

    Decorative acoustic wall and ceiling panel consists of nine square MDF elements covered with engineered wood veneer and a black sound-absorbing PET fibre backing. The elements are arranged in a regular 3×3 grid, creating a clear geometric composition and providing both decorative and acoustic functions.

    Smoked oak imitation surface features a warm, medium-dark brown tone complemented by muted grey-brown and smoky shades. The pronounced longitudinal and locally wavy wood-grain pattern gives the surface a smoked-oak aesthetic, while the black PET backing emphasises the outline of each square element.

    Primary purpose:
    The panel is used for decorative wall and ceiling finishing and to improve acoustic comfort in rooms. The PET felt absorbs some of the sound energy reaching the panel, while the gaps between the square MDF elements help scatter some sound reflected from hard surfaces.

    Construction and operating principle

    The front of the panel consists of nine square MDF elements, arranged in three horizontal and three vertical rows. The regular 3×3 arrangement creates a symmetrical, rhythmic and easy-to-coordinate wall or ceiling composition.

    The square elements are fixed to a black acoustic PET felt backing. Approximately 13–15 mm gaps, are left between them, through which the black backing remains visible.

    The corners of the squares are gently rounded, making the geometric pattern appear softer and visually lighter than a composition with completely sharp corners.

    The visible surface of the MDF elements is covered with engineered wood veneer with a smoked oak imitation finish. This is not solid natural smoked oak or natural oak veneer.

    As sound travels through the room, some sound waves reflect from the square MDF elements, some are scattered by their edges and the gaps between them, and some reach the PET felt backing where they are absorbed.

    The panel is primarily intended to improve internal room acoustics. It is not a sound-insulation system and by itself does not provide sound isolation between adjacent rooms.

    3×3 geometric grid:
    Nine MDF elements of the same format create a repeating square pattern. The panel can be used as a standalone decorative module or combined with other panels into a larger continuous wall or ceiling composition.

    Acoustic properties

    According to the supplied specification, a NRC 0.8 sound-absorption rating, is stated if it applies to this specific product version. Actual acoustic performance depends on the surface area covered by the panels, room size, other finishing materials and the selected installation method.

    • can help reduce echo in the room;
    • can reduce some unwanted sound reflections;
    • can reduce the perception of reverberation;
    • the PET felt absorbs some of the sound energy reaching the panel;
    • the gaps between the MDF elements help scatter some reflected sound;
    • suitable for residential, work and commercial indoor spaces.
    Important note on the NRC value:
    NRC 0.8 should not be interpreted as meaning that the panel absorbs 80% of all sound under all conditions. It is a sound-absorption rating, while actual performance depends on the installation method, covered area and the complete construction.
    This is not a complete sound-insulation system:
    The panel is primarily intended to improve internal room acoustics. By itself it does not provide sound isolation between adjacent rooms and does not replace a dedicated sound-insulating wall or ceiling construction.

    Engineered wood veneer

    The visible surface of the MDF elements is covered with engineered wood veneer. Its colour, texture and pattern are designed so that the surface resembles the aesthetics of warmly toned smoked oak.

    • decorative wood-surface effect;
    • more consistent and controlled wood grain;
    • reduced colour variation between individual squares;
    • visible longitudinal and locally wavy wood grain;
    • suitable for residential and commercial interior finishing;
    • the surface is not natural oak veneer or solid smoked oak.
    Important note on the material:
    Smoked oak imitation describes the decorative surface colour and wood grain. The square elements are not made from solid smoked oak and are not covered with natural oak veneer.

    Smoked oak imitation colour

    According to the supplied colour sample, the surface has a warm brown smoked-oak tone. Walnut-like, medium-brown, grey-brown and muted smoky shades predominate, complemented by a clearly visible wood-grain pattern.

    • warm medium-dark brown wood tone;
    • walnut-like, grey-brown and smoky shades;
    • visible decorative smoked-oak grain pattern;
    • longitudinal and locally wavy wood lines;
    • the pattern intensity may visually vary between individual squares;
    • contrasting combination with the black PET backing;
    • matches black, white, grey and sandy-coloured surfaces;
    • can be combined with concrete, glass, metal and stone finishes;
    • suitable for modern, industrial, classic and minimalist interiors.
    Colour representation:
    The actual product shade may differ slightly from the image due to screen settings, photography conditions, room lighting and production batch.

    Black acoustic PET felt

    The rear backing of the panel is made from compressed black PET fibre felt. It performs both acoustic and structural functions: it absorbs some sound energy and holds the nine MDF elements together in one panel.

    • helps absorb some of the sound reaching the panel;
    • can reduce some sound reflected from hard walls;
    • creates a black background between the square elements;
    • emphasises the regular 3×3 geometric composition;
    • contrasts with the smoked oak imitation surface;
    • joins the individual MDF elements into one continuous panel.
    Visual effect of the black backing:
    The black PET felt contrasts with the warm brown smoked oak imitation surface, making the outline of each square clearly visible and creating a neat grid of horizontal and vertical lines.

    Arrangement of the square elements

    3×3 grid:
    The panel consists of 9 square elements, arranged in three rows of three. Approximately 13–15 mm gaps are left between the elements, with black acoustic PET felt visible between them.

    The modular construction allows several panels to be installed next to each other to create a larger repeating geometric surface. When installing several modules, it is important to maintain consistent horizontal and vertical line directions as well as the wood-grain direction.

    MDF substrate and formaldehyde emission class

    The square elements use an MDF board substrate with a stated emission class of CARB P2.

    • MDF board with controlled formaldehyde emissions;
    • provides a stable substrate for the decorative veneer;
    • helps maintain a consistent shape of the square elements;
    • suitable for interior finishing products;
    • intended for use under normal dry indoor conditions.
    CARB P2:
    This marking relates to limits on formaldehyde emissions from wood-based panels. It does not describe the product's sound absorption, fire performance, moisture resistance or structural strength.

    Fire classification

    Documents must be checked before use in a project:
    If a specific project has fire-performance requirements, the relevant test and classification documents for this exact product version must be used. The characteristics of individual MDF, PET or other materials do not necessarily describe the fire classification of the complete panel construction.

    Practical application example

    For example, several square-element acoustic panels can be installed on the wall behind a television in a living room. The modules are positioned next to each other while maintaining consistent horizontal and vertical line directions as well as the wood-grain direction.

    Smoked oak imitation gives the wall a warm brown, walnut-like and grey-smoky tone. The black PET backing emphasises the outline of each square and creates a regular, contrasting geometric composition.

    The modular construction allows a larger wall area to be covered or only a selected feature zone to be created, for example behind a television, desk, bed or relaxation area.

    The PET felt helps absorb some sound travelling through the room, making the panel both a decorative and acoustic interior element.

    Use according to need

    For home users: suitable for a living room, bedroom, television wall, home office or another dry indoor space where a warm smoked oak imitation surface, regular geometric pattern and acoustic function are desired.

    For interior designers: the 3×3 square-element structure allows neat and repeating geometric compositions to be created. Walnut-like, grey-brown and smoky shades work well with both light and dark interior surfaces.

    For offices or commercial spaces: can be used in offices, meeting rooms, reception areas, hotels, restaurants, cafés and other dry indoor spaces where decorative wall finishing and acoustic comfort are important.

    For improving acoustics: suitable for rooms with many hard sound-reflecting surfaces. The PET backing and the gaps between the MDF elements can help reduce some unwanted sound reflections.

    For installers: it is important to maintain precise horizontal and vertical panel lines as well as the wood-grain direction. When installing several modules, the position of the first panel should be set especially accurately.

    Installation methods

    Installation with screws

    • the panel is fixed through the black PET felt backing;
    • suitable for a timber frame or a properly prepared wall;
    • black screws are less visible in the black felt;
