Edge protection profile for enclosures | for 1–2 mm sheet metal | black | 1 m | ESLL
This is a black edge protection profile for 1–2 mm sheet metal – the thickness most enclosures, distribution boxes and control cabinets are made of. The profile is pushed onto the edge of the cut-out and covers the sharp edge. Cables passing through the opening rest on the profile, not on the metal.
Key point:
Openings in an enclosure are most often cut on site – when replacing equipment or adding a new cable. In that case a few metres of profile are enough, not a whole roll. This product can be bought from 10 m, and the 1–2 mm thickness range lets you check in advance whether it fits your sheet.Sheet thickness

10 mHow it works
Check that the sheet thickness is 1–2 mm and cut the profile to the perimeter of the cut-out.
The profile is pushed onto the cleaned edge and holds on it.
The sharp edge is covered – cables, wires and hands do not touch the metal.
What does this edge protection give you?
The stated 1–2 mm sheet thickness matches most enclosures, so selection is simple. The low minimum quantity (10 m) suits repairs and single sites, and the black colour does not stand out in dark enclosures or on galvanised sheet.Technical specifications
Product type Edge protection profile Code ESLL Purpose Protection of sheet-metal cut-outs and edges in enclosures and housings Suitable sheet thickness 1–2 mm Colour Black Sales unit 1 m Minimum quantity 10 m Main functions

- Covers the sharp edge – cable insulation is not cut
- Fitted without tools – no glue or rivets needed
- Cut to length – suits round and rectangular cut-outs
- Sold from 10 m – no need to buy a large quantity for one site
Where is it used?
- New cable entry openings in existing enclosures
- Metal distribution and terminal boxes
- Door cut-outs for devices in control cabinets
- Cut-outs in cable trays and trunking
- Sheet-metal edges of equipment housings and frames
- Fan and grille cut-outs in housings
- Reconstruction and upgrading of enclosures
Use by need
For electricians modifying an enclosure.
After adding a cable and cutting an opening, the edge can be finished the same day – a few metres are enough. For automation panel builders.
The clear thickness range (1–2 mm) allows one profile to be standardised for most housings. For facility managers.
If an inspection finds cables rubbing against a sheet edge, the defect can be fixed at low cost.Practical application
If you have drilled a round hole for a new cable in an existing enclosure made of 1.5 mm sheet, remove the swarf and burrs, cut the profile to the perimeter of the hole and push it on – the cable insulation will no longer rub against the sharp edge.Pros
- Clear suitability range – 1–2 mm sheet
- Low minimum quantity – 10 m
- Fitting without tools or glue
- Black colour suits dark and galvanised housings
- Protects both cables and the installer's hands
Cons / limitations
- Not suitable for sheet thinner than 1 mm or thicker than 2 mm
- Does not seal the opening – against moisture and dust use a gland (e.g. VET, MET) or a cable entry plate (e.g. HTC-50)
- Does not secure the cable against pull-out – fix the cable inside the enclosure
- For white enclosures the white edge protection EM-1010-04-01 (min. 100 m) may suit better
Safety and installation notes
- Make cut-outs in the enclosure only with the voltage disconnected and verified absent
- Remove swarf after drilling – it can cause a short circuit
- Deburr the edge so that the profile is not pierced from inside
- Fit the profile along the whole perimeter; place the joint where cable load is lowest
- Measure the sheet thickness with a caliper before ordering
Quick selection guide
Sheet: 1–2 mmColour: blackUnit: 1 mMin. quantity: 10 mSuitable when you need:- to protect cables in cut-outs in 1–2 mm sheet
- a small quantity of profile for a repair or a single site
- dark-coloured edge protection
Check before use:- whether the sheet thickness is 1–2 mm
- whether the cut-out edge is free of burrs and swarf
- whether the opening needs additional sealing
Important reminder: Edge protection only protects against a sharp edge. It does not seal the opening, does not replace a cable gland or cable entry plate and is not a fire barrier.FAQ
