IMP6,3 (DJ622-A6.3B) is a non-insulated brass crimp flat receptacle with lock for 1–2.5 mm² wires, designed for 6.3 mm tabs in heaters, thermostats, switches, relays and vehicle connector housings. Fast installation without soldering and a detachable connection.

  • Flat wire receptacle with lock | 1–2.5 mm² | 6.3 mm | non-insulated | brass | DJ622-A6.3B | IMP6,3

IMP6,3 (DJ622-A6.3B) is a non-insulated brass flat receptacle (female terminal) with a locking tongue, designed to connect 1–2.5 mm² wires to 6.3 mm wide flat tabs. The lock snaps into a plastic connector housing, so the terminal does not work loose under vibration.

    Key point:
One of the most widely used terminals in household appliances, heaters, switches, relays and vehicle wiring. When a burnt or oxidised receptacle on a 6.3 mm tab needs replacing, a properly crimped new receptacle restores a reliable contact without soldering.

    Operating principle

Insulation is stripped from the wire, the conductor is placed in the crimp zone and crimped with pliers designed for non-insulated terminals. The receptacle has two crimp zones: the front wings grip the conductor for a low-resistance electrical contact, and the rear wings grip the insulation and protect the conductor from breaking at the terminal.

The crimped receptacle is pushed onto a 6.3 mm flat tab. Its spring edges press on the tab and maintain constant contact force, so the connection does not loosen from vibration or temperature changes.

The locking tongue on top is designed for multi-way 6.3 mm connector housings: once pushed into the housing cavity, the tongue latches and prevents the terminal from backing out. As the receptacle is non-insulated, insulation is provided by the connector housing, an insulating cover or heat-shrink tubing.

    Why IMP6,3?
It suits both single connections to a 6.3 mm tab and assembly into automotive or appliance connector housings – the lock ensures the wire will not pull out of the connector.

    Main functions

    • Locking tongue – the receptacle latches in the connector housing and does not fall out under vibration.
    • Double crimp zone – the conductor gets an electrical contact, the insulation gets mechanical support.
    • Detachable connection – a device or component can be replaced without cutting the wire.
    • Standard 6.3 mm size – fits most flat tabs on household and industrial equipment.
    • Crimp connection – installation without soldering, fast and repeatable.
    • Wide wire range – 1–2.5 mm² covers the most common control and power circuit wires.

    Where is it used?

    • Water heaters, boilers and heating elements
    • Thermostats, thermal relays and overheat protectors
    • Household appliance repair (washing machines, dishwashers, ovens)
    • Rocker switches, push-buttons and signalling devices
    • Relays and contactors with flat terminals
    • Vehicle, camper and agricultural machinery connector housings (6.3 mm series)
    • Fan, pump and capacitor terminals

    Use by need

    For appliance repairers.
Quickly replace burnt receptacles on heating elements and thermostats without soldering.
    For panel and equipment builders.
A standard, low-cost component for series wire preparation and assembly.
    For auto electricians.
A neat detachable connection for switches, relays and additional equipment.

    Practical application

If a water heater thermostat receptacle is darkened or burnt, cut the wire back to clean copper, strip about 5–6 mm of insulation, crimp a new IMP6,3 receptacle and slide heat-shrink tubing over it. Then push the receptacle firmly onto the thermostat tab – the connection is restored without soldering or replacing the thermostat.

    Pros

    • Lock for connector housing
    • Standard 6.3 mm size
    • Suits 1–2.5 mm² wires
    • Installation without soldering
    • Connection can be disconnected and reconnected
    • Compact, fits tight spaces
    • Low price for series use

    Cons / limitations

    • Non-insulated – in open locations additional insulation is required (heat-shrink or cover)
    • Not suitable for wires smaller than 1 mm² or larger than 2.5 mm²
    • Proper crimping requires suitable crimping pliers
    • Other tab widths (2.8 mm, 4.8 mm) require a matching receptacle
    • Can only be removed from a connector housing by depressing the locking tongue with a thin tool

    Safety and installation notes

    • Disconnect power and verify absence of voltage before work.
    • Crimp with pliers designed for non-insulated terminals – do not use ordinary pliers.
    • After crimping, pull the wire – it must not slip out of the receptacle.
    • Insulation must not enter the conductor crimp zone.
    • Insulate a non-insulated receptacle in accessible locations with heat-shrink tubing or a cover.
    • Do not clean oxidised or burnt receptacles – replace them.

    Quick selection guide

    1–2.5 mm²
    6.3 mm
    Non-insulated
    With lock
    Suitable when you need:
    • to connect a wire to a 6.3 mm flat tab
    • to replace a burnt or oxidised receptacle
    • a detachable connection without soldering
    • a receptacle that latches into a 6.3 mm connector housing
    Check before use:
    • that the tab width is really 6.3 mm
    • that the wire cross-section is 1–2.5 mm²
    • that you have crimping pliers for non-insulated terminals
Important reminder: a non-insulated receptacle does not replace insulation – in accessible locations it must be additionally insulated.

    FAQ

What wire sizes does IMP6,3 fit?
Copper wires from 1 to 2.5 mm².
What tab does it fit on?
A standard 6.3 mm wide flat tab.
    Is soldering needed?
No, the wire is crimped with crimping pliers.
    How do I insulate a non-insulated receptacle?
Slide heat-shrink tubing onto the wire before crimping, or use a 6.3 mm insulating cover.
    What is the lock for?
It latches the receptacle in a plastic connector housing so the wire does not pull out from vibration or tension.
How do I remove the receptacle from a connector housing?
Press the locking tongue through the housing opening with a thin tool and pull out the wire.
