  • Low-Flow Liquid Flow Meter DN10 | 50–1200 l/h | G1/2 | 24 V DC | pulse, 4–20 mA, RS485 | LCD | IP65 | EL-DN10

EL-DN10 is a low-flow liquid flow meter with an LCD display, designed to measure flows of 50–1200 l/h in pipework with a G1/2 threaded connection. The meter is supplied with 24 V DC and transmits the result as pulses, a 4–20 mA signal or via RS485. Every litre that passes produces 1280 pulses, so even small flows are counted accurately. Permissible pressure is up to 5 MPa (50 bar), liquid temperature up to 80 °C.

⚠ No Ex certification. When measuring petrol, diesel or other flammable liquids, it must not be used in explosive atmospheres (Ex zones).
    Key idea:
In dosing, lubrication or chemical additive lines, flows are often just a few hundred litres per hour – ordinary water meters cannot measure such flows accurately. EL-DN10 shows the flow locally on the display and sends it to a PLC or controller at the same time, so one device serves both visual control and automation.

    Operating principle

The liquid flows through the measuring chamber and turns the measuring element inside it. Each revolution is detected by a sensor and converted into pulses – one litre corresponds to 1280 pulses (K-factor 1280 p/l).

The electronics calculate instantaneous flow and total volume from the pulse frequency, show them on the LCD and transmit them via the outputs: pulse, analogue 4–20 mA and digital RS485.

At the maximum flow of 1200 l/h the pulse frequency reaches about 427 Hz, at the minimum of 50 l/h about 18 Hz. Take this into account when selecting a PLC counter input.

    Why use a low-flow meter?
It allows small liquid quantities to be measured and dosed where a simple meter is inaccurate. One device gives a local reading and a signal for automation, so no separate indicator or converter is needed.

    • Liquid temperature up to 80 °C – suitable for warm process liquids.

How does it differ from similar products?

Water meter Intended for billing at higher flows, often without an output signal. EL-DN10 measures small flows and has outputs for automation.
Meters of the same series with other ranges The series includes meters from 0.3–20 l/h up to 2000–20000 l/h. Choose the one whose range has your working flow in the middle.
Electromagnetic flow meter Measures only electrically conductive liquids. It cannot measure diesel, petrol or oils, which are non-conductive – EL-DN10 is suitable for these liquids.

    Where is it used?

    • Dosing of chemical additives and reagents
    • Fuel consumption measurement in generators and boilers
    • Lubrication and oil supply lines
    • Food industry – dosing of syrups and concentrates
    • Glue and resin supply in production lines
    • Laboratory and test benches

    Use by need

    Beginner.
Choose a meter whose 50–1200 l/h range covers your working flow, connect 24 V DC and watch the readings on the display.
    Experienced installer.
Connect the pulse output to a PLC high-speed counter – frequency reaches ~427 Hz; install a filter upstream of the meter.
    Power engineer / designer.
Choose the signal type for the system: pulses for volume, 4–20 mA for flow, RS485 for integration into SCADA or BMS.

    Practical use

In a standby diesel generator room, fuel consumption of about 300 l/h needs to be measured. EL-DN10 is installed in the fuel supply line downstream of the filter, and the pulse output is connected to a PLC counter. The operator sees the flow on the display, and the system counts the fuel consumed. The room is not an Ex zone – otherwise an Ex-certified meter would be required.

    Pros / advantages

    • Accurately measures small flows
    • Three output types for automation
    • Local LCD reading
    • Pressure up to 5 MPa
    • Also suitable for non-conductive liquids (fuel, oils)
    • Compact G1/2 connection

    Cons / limitations

    • No Ex certification – not suitable for explosive atmospheres
    • Requires 24 V DC supply
    • Sensitive to mechanical impurities – a filter is essential
    • Liquid temperature limited to 80 °C

    Safety and installation notes

    • ⚠ No Ex certification: do not use in explosive atmospheres on lines with flammable liquids (petrol, diesel).
    • ⚡ Electrical connection in the panel by a qualified electrician with the supply disconnected.
    • Supply with 24 V DC only – do not connect to a 230 V AC network.
    • Before removing the meter, reduce line pressure to zero and drain the liquid.
    • Do not exceed 5 MPa pressure and 80 °C liquid temperature.
    • Install a filter upstream of the meter so impurities do not damage the measuring element.
    • Route signal cables separately from power cables.

    Quick selection guide

    50–1200 l/h
    G1/2
    24 V DC
    4–20 mA / RS485
    Suitable when you need:
    • to measure small liquid flows
    • to dose additives or reagents
    • to measure fuel or oil consumption outside Ex zones
    • to transmit flow data to a PLC or BMS
    Check before choosing:
    • that the working flow falls within 50–1200 l/h
    • liquid viscosity and temperature (up to 80 °C)
    • that the installation site is not an Ex zone
    • which outputs are needed and which accuracy class (0.5 % or 1.0 %)
Important reminder: EL-DN10 is not an explosion-proof device. On lines with petrol or other highly flammable liquids in explosive atmospheres, an Ex-certified meter is mandatory.

    FAQ

Is the meter suitable for petrol?
We do not recommend this meter for petrol: petrol vapour forms an explosive atmosphere, and petrol transfer and supply points are usually classified as Ex zones. The meter has no Ex certification – choose an Ex-certified meter for petrol.
What does the K-factor of 1280 p/l mean?
The meter outputs 1280 pulses for every litre passed. Enter this number in the PLC or counter to calculate volume.
What pulse frequency should be expected?
Based on the K-factor, about 427 Hz at 1200 l/h and about 18 Hz at 50 l/h. The PLC input must handle this frequency.
    Can viscous liquids be measured?
Yes, syrup, glue and honey are listed among measured liquids. For very viscous liquids, confirm the range and pressure loss before ordering.
Is a filter needed upstream of the meter?
Yes, it is recommended. Solid particles can jam or damage the measuring element and distort readings.
Which meter to choose if my flow is 1500 l/h?
This model measures up to 1200 l/h. Choose a meter of the same series with a 200–3000 l/h range.
