  • Residual current circuit breaker | 2P | 40 A | 30 mA | type AC | 220…240 V | DIN | Schneider Electric Acti9 ID K | A9Z05240

    Code: A9Z05240

    Residual current circuit breaker (RCCB) 2P, 40 A, 30 mA, type AC, 220…240 V AC, 2 modules (36 mm). EN/IEC 61008-1.

  • Residual current circuit breaker | 2P | 40 A | 30 mA | type AC | 220…240 V | DIN | Schneider Electric Acti9 ID K | A9Z05240

Schneider Electric Acti9 ID K A9Z05240 is a 2-pole residual current circuit breaker 40 A, 30 mA, type AC. It disconnects the circuit when earth leakage current reaches the sensitivity threshold, protecting people against electric shock and reducing fire risk.

    Key point:
An RCCB does not protect against overload or short circuit – an MCB or fuse must always be installed upstream. Type AC suits ordinary household circuits; EV chargers, inverters or variable speed drives need a type A, F or B device.

    Operating principle

The device compares the current flowing in the phase conductors with the current returning in the neutral. In a healthy installation they are equal.

If part of the current leaks to earth – through damaged insulation or a person – a difference appears. At the 30 mA threshold the RCCB disconnects the circuit instantly.

The test button is used to check operation periodically.

    Why choose A9Z05240?
30 mA sensitivity – additional protection against direct contact when other protective measures fail.

    Main functions

    • 30 mA sensitivity – protection of people against electric shock.
    • Instantaneous tripping – no time delay.
    • Voltage independent – electromechanical operation.
    • 2P / 40 A – for single-phase circuits.
    • Double terminals – easy connection to busbars and wires up to 35 mm².

    Where is it used?

    • Apartment and house distribution boards
    • Bathroom, kitchen and outdoor socket circuits
    • Office and commercial circuits
    • Country houses and garages
    • Temporary construction site boards
    • Retrofit of old boards

    Use by need

    For the electrician.
Standard DIN module and clear terminals – fast installation in distribution boards.
    For the home owner.
Protects the family from electric shock if insulation or an appliance fails.
    For the building contractor.
A reliable solution for new apartments and houses in line with requirements.

    Practical use

If a socket circuit is installed in a bathroom and kitchen, an MCB is placed upstream of A9Z05240 and the socket circuits are connected downstream – if insulation fails or someone touches a live part, the RCCB disconnects the circuit.

    Pros

    • 30 mA personal protection
    • Complies with EN/IEC 61008-1
    • Inc 6 kA with K60
    • Double terminals up to 35 mm²
    • Compact DIN module

    Cons / limitations

    • No overload or short-circuit protection – an MCB or fuse is required
    • Type AC is not suitable for EV chargers, inverters or variable speed drives
    • Operating temperature up to +40 °C

    Safety and installation notes

    • Install overcurrent protection upstream – an MCB or a gG/GL fuse not larger than 63 A.
    • Route the neutral through the RCCB – the downstream N must not be joined with other circuits’ N.
    • Switch off and verify absence of voltage before installation.
    • Tighten terminals to 3.5 N·m.
    • Check operation periodically with the test button.
    • Installation must be done by a qualified electrician.

    Suitable when you need:
    • Protecting people against electric shock
    • Circuit protection in domestic boards
    • Upgrading an old board to current requirements
    Check before use:
    • Whether an MCB or fuse is installed upstream
    • Load type – AC or type A / F / B needed
    • Whether the neutrals of circuits are separated
Important reminder: An RCCB does not replace an MCB – it does not protect against overload or short circuit.
    ☝ Elsprendimai.eu recommends:
    • Schneider Acti9 iC60N / K60N miniature circuit breakers
    • Schneider Acti9 iID RCCBs – when type A is required

    FAQ

Does it protect against short circuit?
