  • Safety relay with force-guided contacts | 2CO | 6 A | coil 24 V DC | PCB | ELESTA SGR 282 Z 24 V DC

    Code: SGR282Z

ELESTA SGR 282 Z 24 V DC – safety relay with force-guided 2CO contacts (EN 50205, type B), 6 A, 24 V DC coil. Solder-mounted on PCB; for safety circuits where contact status must be reliably monitored.

  • Safety relay with force-guided contacts | 2CO | 6 A | coil 24 V DC | PCB | ELESTA SGR 282 Z 24 V DC

ELESTA SGR 282 Z 24 V DC is a safety relay with force-guided contacts to EN 50205 (type B). If the NO contact welds, the NC contact will not close, so the safety circuit can detect the fault.

    Key point:
In safety circuits it is not enough for a relay to switch – you need to know the contacts really opened. Force-guided contacts mechanically prevent NO and NC contacts from being closed at the same time.

    Operating principle

The relay is soldered to a printed circuit board (8 pins). The 24 V DC control voltage is applied to the coil.

The contacts are mechanically linked: NO and NC contacts can never be closed at the same time, even if one of them welds.

By monitoring the NC contact (feedback), the safety controller detects a relay fault and prevents the machine from restarting.

    Why choose ELESTA SGR 282 Z 24 V DC?
ELESTA SGR 282 Z – a compact safety relay with force-guided contacts to EN 50205 (type B), reinforced 5000 V insulation and AgCuNi contacts.

    Main functions

    • Force-guided contacts – reliable contact status monitoring in safety circuits.
    • 2CO – one contact for the load, the other for feedback.
    • Reinforced insulation – 5000 V between coil and contacts.
    • Low holding power – 0.31 W after pick-up.
    • PCB mounting – compact solution for safety modules.

    Where is it used?

    • Safety controller and safety module boards
    • Emergency stop circuits
    • Guard door and barrier monitoring
    • Machine safety circuits
    • Lifting equipment control

    Use by need

    Safety equipment manufacturer.
A relay meeting EN 50205 requirements for force-guided contacts.
    Automation engineer.
The feedback contact lets you detect welded contacts.
    Repair technician.
    Exact replacement on existing boards.

    Practical application

If a safety module has to disconnect a drive during an emergency stop and check that the relay really opened, the load is connected through the NO contact and the NC contact goes to the controller feedback input: if the NO contact welds, NC stays open and the controller will not allow a restart.

    Pros

    • Force-guided contacts to EN 50205
    • Reinforced insulation 5000 V
    • Mechanical life >50 × 10⁶ cycles
    • Operating temperature −40…+70 °C

    Cons / limitations

    • Distributors list this model as discontinued; alternative from the same series – SGR 282 ZK (8 A)
    • PCB solder mounting – a separate socket is needed for DIN rail
    • The relay itself is not a safety controller – the safety function is provided by the whole circuit

    Safety and installation notes

    • Install and solder only with the supply disconnected.
    • Design the safety circuit according to the applicable machine safety standards.
    • Suppress inductive loads with a diode or RC circuit.
    • Do not exceed 6 A and 250 V.

    Quick selection guide

    24 V DC
    PCB
    Suitable when you need:
    • to monitor contact status in a safety circuit
    • to replace the same relay on a PCB
    • NO and NC contacts that never close together
    Check before use:
    • that the board fits the SGR 282 pin layout
    • coil voltage 24 V DC
    • whether EN 50205 compliance is required
Important reminder: a safety relay is only part of a safety circuit. The safety function and its level are determined by the whole system and its design.

    FAQ

    What does "force-guided contacts" mean?
NO and NC contacts are mechanically linked and can never be closed at the same time.
Is the relay mounted on DIN rail?
Not directly – it is soldered to a PCB.
    What is the coil voltage?
    24 V DC.
    Is it still manufactured?
Distributors list it as discontinued; alternative from the same series – SGR 282 ZK (8 A).
    What load does it switch?
    Up to 6 A at 250 V; AC15 – 3 A / 230 V.
    Do you help with selection?
Yes, send us a diagram or the old relay code – we will find an equivalent.
