The Laxihub W1-TY is a battery outdoor camera that can be mounted where there is no power socket: on a fence, a farm building or a balcony. It stays in passive standby and wakes when the PIR sensor detects heat-emitting movement, then records 1080p video and sends an alert to your phone.

Key point:
It is one of two battery outdoor cameras in our group: compared with the Google Nest Cam G3AL9 it is cheaper (€78.50 vs €98.99), has a higher IP65 rating (Nest – IP54) and a microSD slot up to 128 GB. The Tuya version (TY) joins the Tuya Smart / Smart Life ecosystem, so the camera appears in the same app as your other Tuya smart devices.

How it works

Fully charge the battery via micro USB (DC 5 V 1 A) and fix the camera with the supplied bracket 2–3 m high, so the PIR sensor sees the walkway at an angle.

In the Tuya Smart / Smart Life app the camera joins the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. The PIR sensor (up to 8 m, 100°) wakes it only when a warm object moves, and person detection filters out small animals.

The result is a phone alert and a 1080p clip; at night a black-and-white IR image up to 10 m. Recordings are stored on a microSD card up to 128 GB.
