ELGAMA-ELEKTRONIKA GAMA 300 G3A.147-230.C110 is a Lithuanian-made three-phase electricity meter connected via current transformers with a 5 A secondary in a 4-wire 3×230/400 V network. It is intended for active energy metering on supplies and feeders where the current is too high for direct-connected meters.

    Key point:
The G3A version has an internal real-time clock and programmable tariffs – this configuration is supplied with one tariff, an IEC 62056-21 optical port and an S0 pulse output. The 5(10) A rating means the meter works with standard x/5 A current transformers, and accuracy class B to EN 50470-3 meets billing-grade requirements.

    Bidirectional metering
The energy type code (F) is not part of the manufacturer's designation for this code, so separate import and export metering is not confirmed. If energy imported from and exported to the grid must be seen separately, choose a GAMA 300 version with an F2 or F4 code (bidirectional active energy).

    Communication interfaces and integration

    Optical port IEC 62056-21
On-site reading of registers, tariff registers and parameters with an optical probe – the way utilities and metering inspectors work.
    S0 pulse output
Galvanically isolated pulse output to IEC 62053-31 for active energy – into a PLC, BMS or data logger. There is no RS485 or M-Bus in this configuration.

    Operating principle

The meter is fixed with three screws to the panel plate (fixing dimensions to DIN 43857). The voltage circuits are connected to L1, L2, L3 and N, and the current circuits to the secondary windings of three x/5 A current transformers.

The three-element measuring circuit counts active energy in all phases, starting from 0.2 % of rated current; the internal clock controls the tariffs.

Readings per tariff are shown on the LCD. To obtain the real consumption, the reading is multiplied by the CT ratio (e.g. 200/5 A = 40) unless it has been entered in the meter parameters.

Why choose the GAMA 300 G3A.147-230.C110?
It allows billing-grade metering of supplies of hundreds of amperes via standard x/5 A current transformers, using the same panel housing as utility metering cabinets. The internal clock switches tariffs without an external signal.

    • Internal real-time clock – tariffs are controlled inside the meter.
    • Optical port IEC 62056-21 – reading with an optical probe.
    • S0 pulse output – integration into a PLC or BMS.
    • Sensitivity 0.2 % In – registers low loads even through large CTs.

How does it differ from similar models?

ELGAMA GAMA 300 G3A.147-230.F11 Also via CT 5(10) A, but 2 tariffs and F11 (max. demand, instantaneous values); this one – 1 tariff, optical port and S0.
ELGAMA GAMA 300 G3A.144-230.F14 Direct connection 5(100) A with 4 tariffs; the G3A.147 is for higher currents via current transformers.
Eastron SDM630MCT-2T Modular DIN-rail multifunction CT meter with RS485 Modbus and MID; the GAMA 300 is a billing-grade panel meter.
Schneider PowerLogic PM5330 / PM5110 Panel power analysers via CT with extended network analysis; the GAMA 300 is an energy billing meter.

    Where is it used?

    • Company and building supplies above 100 A
    • Metering on the 0.4 kV side of transformer substations
    • Production halls and warehouses
    • Retail and office centres
    • Agricultural complexes
    • Metering of large feeders and sub-distribution

    Use by need

    Electricians.
    Standard panel housing and x/5 A connection – a clear, well-known scheme.
    Energy engineers.
Billing-grade metering, readings per tariff and an internal clock.
    Companies.
Consumption control of large supplies and tariff-based cost allocation.

    Practical application

If a production building has a 400 A supply that needs separate metering, three 400/5 A current transformers are installed, their secondaries are wired through a test terminal block to the GAMA 300 G3A.147, and the consumption is calculated by multiplying the reading by a factor of 80 (unless it is entered in the meter).

    Pros

    • Class B to EN 50470-3, class 1 to IEC 62053-21
    • Connection via standard x/5 A current transformers
    • Internal real-time clock for tariffs
    • Optical port IEC 62056-21 and S0 output
    • Standard panel housing with three-point mounting
    • Manufacturer – ELGAMA-ELEKTRONIKA, Lithuania

    Cons / limitations

    • Current transformers and a test terminal block must be bought and installed separately
    • Not for DIN rail – for a modular board choose e.g. the Eastron SDM630MCT-2T
    • Reactive energy and export are not confirmed for this code
    • No RS485 Modbus – for a bus choose the Eastron SDM630MCT-2T
    • Up to 100 A the direct-connected G3A.144 / G3E.144 is simpler

    Safety and installation notes

    • Installation and wiring must be done by a qualified electrician with the circuit isolated and verified dead.
    • Never open the secondary circuit of a loaded current transformer – an open secondary generates dangerous voltage; use a test terminal block with shorting links.
    • Connect the voltage circuits through separate fuses or circuit breakers.
    • Keep phase correspondence: each CT secondary must match the voltage of the same phase, and the P1/P2 direction must follow the energy flow.
    • Do not break the manufacturer's seals – otherwise the readings lose their metrological validity.

    Quick selection guide

    Via CT x/5 A
    5(10) A
    Class B
    1 tariff
    Suitable when you need:
    • billing-grade metering on supplies above 100 A
    • 1 tariff with an internal clock
    • a panel meter with three-point mounting
    Check before use:
    • that the CT secondary current is 5 A and the CT accuracy class is suitable
    • that the cabinet has room for the meter and a test terminal block
    • that the label shows the MID marking and verification year you require
Important reminder: The meter only measures energy – it does not protect against overload or short circuit, and the CT ratio must be taken into account when calculating real consumption.

    FAQ

Is this meter connected directly up to 100 A?
No – code "147" means connection via current transformers, 5(10) A.
    What current transformers are needed?
    x/5 A, selected for the supply current, e.g. 200/5 A or 400/5 A.
    How many tariffs?
1 tariff in the supplied configuration; the G3A allows 1–4 to be programmed.
Does it mount on a DIN rail?
No, it is a panel housing with three-point mounting to DIN 43857.
Does it measure energy exported to the grid?
This is not confirmed for this code – choose a GAMA 300 with an F2 / F4 code for that.
    Is it MID certified?
The GAMA 300 series is manufactured under the MID directive; check the MID marking on the individual meter's label.
