Compact 100 g aerosol fire suppression module designed for local protection of electrical, automation, PLC, and other enclosed technical cabinets and boxes up to 1 m³. The module can be activated automatically by a thermal activation line (~170 ±10 °C) or electrically by a 5–24 V DC, >350 mA signal. The cylindrical Ø76 × 139 mm module is mounted to the cabinet or panel wall using brackets, so it does not occupy DIN rail space. Operating temperature: –50 °C to +90 °C.

  • Aerosol Fire Extinguishing Module | 100g | 1m³ | 5–24V DC | Thermal and Electrical Activation

Aerosol Fire Extinguishing Module | 100g | up to 1m³ | 5–24V DC | Thermal and Electrical Activation

Aerosol fire extinguishing module – a device designed for local fire protection in enclosed electrical, automation and other technical spaces up to 1m³. The cylindrical module is mounted with brackets to the wall of an electrical panel or technical cabinet and can be activated in two ways: automatically via a thermal activation line or electrically using a 5–24V DC activation circuit. The thermal line activates when directly exposed to flame or when its temperature reaches approximately 170±10°C. For electrical activation, the module is used together with a fire detector and controller, and the controller activation output must supply more than 350mA. The device contains 100g of aerosol-generating chemical agent, while the extinguishing density is 100g/m³.

Local fire protection for enclosed technical spaces up to 1m³

The 100g version is intended for larger electrical and automation cabinets and other enclosed technical spaces. The module is mounted with brackets to the inner wall of the cabinet, so it does not occupy DIN rail space and can be installed separately from other modular components.

Extinguishing density 100g/m³ The amount of extinguishing agent is selected according to the volume of the protected enclosed space.
Protected volume Up to 1m³ Designed for local fire protection of enclosed electrical, automation and other technical spaces.
Installation Bracket-mounted to the cabinet wall The cylindrical module is mounted with brackets to the inner wall of an electrical panel, automation cabinet or other technical enclosure.

How does automatic thermal activation work?

The thermal activation line operates independently

The thermal line is designed for automatic activation of the extinguishing module. When directly exposed to flame or when the temperature at the activation point reaches approximately 170±10°C, the module activates automatically. This activation method does not require a signal from an external fire detector or controller.

    1. The extinguishing module is fixed with brackets to the inner wall of the protected cabinet or panel.
    2. The thermal activation line is positioned within the protected area according to the manufacturer's installation requirements.
    3. Under normal conditions, the module remains passive.
    4. In the event of a fire, flame or high temperature affects the thermal activation line.
    5. When the line temperature reaches approximately 170±10°C or it is directly exposed to flame, the aerosol generator is activated automatically.
    6. The generated extinguishing aerosol is dispersed throughout the protected enclosed space and suppresses the combustion process.

How does 5–24V DC electrical activation work?

Operation together with a fire detector and controller

For electrical activation, the extinguishing module is used together with a fire detector and controller. When the detector identifies signs of fire, the signal is transmitted to the controller, which activates the aerosol fire extinguishing module. The activation voltage may range from 5V to 24V DC, and the activation current must be greater than 350mA.

    1. The fire detector monitors the protected technical space.
    2. When signs of fire are detected, the detector sends a signal to the controller.
    3. The controller processes the signal and sends a 5–24V DC activation command to the extinguishing module.
    4. The controller output must provide an activation current greater than 350mA.
    5. The extinguishing module is activated and begins generating extinguishing aerosol.
    6. The aerosol is dispersed throughout the protected enclosed space and suppresses the combustion process.
Important: sufficient current is required for electrical activation

For electrical activation, 5–24V DC voltage alone is not sufficient. The activation circuit must be capable of supplying more than 350mA. Before connecting the module, it is essential to verify that the controller output meets both requirements.

    Protected volume up to 1m³

One 100g module is designed to protect a volume of up to 1m³ when the extinguishing density is 100g/m³. When selecting the device, the actual internal volume of the protected space, ventilation openings, leakage, component arrangement and other installation conditions must be evaluated.

    Bracket-mounted to the cabinet wall

The module has a cylindrical housing with dimensions of Φ76x139mm. It is mounted with brackets to the inner wall of an electrical panel or technical cabinet. This installation method makes use of the cabinet's vertical surfaces and keeps the DIN rail space available for other electrical and automation equipment.

    Disadvantages / limitations

    • Protected volume limit: one module is designed for an enclosed space of up to 1m³, therefore larger volumes require a separate engineering assessment.
    • Additional equipment required for electrical activation: the module must be used together with a suitable fire detector and controller.
    • Sufficient output current is required: 5–24V DC voltage alone is not sufficient – the controller activation output must be capable of supplying more than 350mA.
    • Mechanical fastening is required: due to the 870g weight, the module must be securely mounted with suitable brackets to a structurally suitable cabinet wall.
    • Single-use operating principle: after actual activation, the aerosol generator must be replaced with a new one.
    • Importance of enclosure tightness: ventilation openings, leakage and intensive air exchange may affect the aerosol concentration in the protected space.
    • Not a whole-room fire suppression system: the product is intended for local fire protection of an enclosed technical space.

    Practical example

The internal protected volume of a larger automation cabinet is approximately 0.8m³. The cabinet contains circuit breakers, contactors, variable frequency drives, power supplies and control electronics. The 100g aerosol fire extinguishing module is mounted with brackets to a suitable inner wall of the cabinet. The thermal activation line is positioned within the protected area, allowing the module to activate automatically if the line is directly exposed to flame or its temperature reaches approximately 170±10°C. In addition, the device can be connected to a fire detector and controller. For electrical activation, the controller must send a 5–24V DC signal and provide an activation current greater than 350mA.
