  • Electromagnetic Door Lock | Bolt Lock | 12VDC | NC | Holding Force 800kg | 0/3/6s Time Delay | Fail-Secure

    Code: ES-OC-150S-NC

The surface-mounted electric bolt lock is designed for access control systems requiring reliable door locking. The lock operates on an NC (fail-secure) principle: when 12 V DC power is supplied, the door is locked, and when the power supply is lost or disconnected, the door is unlocked. The aluminium alloy housing, stainless steel bolt, adjustable 0 / 3 / 6 s locking delay, and 4-wire interface ensure reliable operation in offices, apartment buildings, warehouses, server rooms, and other access control systems.

  • Surface-mounted electric bolt door lock – 12 V DC, NC, 0/3/6 s delay, 4-wire interface

Surface-mounted electric bolt door lock is intended for locking doors in access control systems. This specific lock version operates according to the NC principle: when power is disconnected, the lock bolt remains extended and the door is locked, while applying 12 V DC power retracts the bolt and unlocks the door.

The lock can be controlled by a keypad, card reader, biometric terminal, intercom, access control controller or another device providing a suitable signal. The lock has a 4-wire, 12–24 V interface. The exact purpose of each wire and the connection diagram must be checked against the diagram supplied with the product.

The surface-mounted construction is installed on the door frame or another suitable horizontal surface. The aluminium-alloy housing, stainless-steel bolt and adjustable 0, 3 or 6-second delay are suitable for more intensively used wooden, metal and PVC-profile doors.

    Operating mode – NC:
When power is disconnected, the lock remains locked. When 12 V DC power is applied, the bolt retracts and the door is unlocked.
Important information regarding emergency exit doors:
The NC, fail-secure operating principle means that the door remains locked if the power supply is interrupted. Nevertheless, the suitability of the lock for emergency exits, fire doors or other special-purpose exits must be assessed according to the complete door system, the project and the applicable safety requirements.
    Package contents note:
The power supply, keypad, access control controller, card reader, exit button and other system components that may be shown in diagrams are not included. They must be selected and purchased separately.

    NC, fail-secure operating principle

This lock is an NC type. When 12 V DC is supplied to the lock, the electric bolt actuator extends or keeps the bolt extended, so the door remains locked.

When the access control system provides a 12 V DC unlocking signal, the electric actuator retracts the bolt and releases the door.

    Operating sequence:
    • Power supplied – the lock is locked.
    • Power disconnected – the lock is unlocked.
    • Power supply fails – the door is released.

    Electric bolt locking

The lock secures the door with a metal bolt that enters a prepared opening in the strike plate. The bolt mechanically connects the door leaf to the frame and prevents the door from opening.

The bolt diameter is 12.5 mm, and its travel is 15 mm. For reliable operation, the bolt and the receiving opening must be precisely aligned on the same axis.

The door must close without a heavy impact, and the door closer, hinges and frame geometry must ensure that the bolt opening stops in the same position every time.

    Bolt alignment:
If the bolt presses against the edge of the receiving opening, the lock may fail to lock, jam, overheat or wear more quickly. The lock must not be used to pull in or mechanically straighten the door leaf.

    Surface mounting

The lock housing is secured to the door frame or another suitable surface, so it does not need to be fully recessed into the frame. This can reduce the need for complex routing and simplify installation on existing door structures.

Surface mounting can be used on wooden, metal and PVC-profile doors provided that the door and frame construction is sufficiently strong and the lock and strike can be securely mounted at the installation point.

    Installation orientation:
The lock must be installed in a horizontal plane. An incorrect position may interfere with bolt movement and cause unreliable locking.

    Possible installation methods

At the top of the frame

The lock housing is mounted on the upper horizontal part of the frame, while the strike plate is mounted on the door leaf. This is the most commonly used installation method.

On the side of the frame

The lock may be installed on the side of the door frame, provided that the permitted horizontal operating position is maintained and the bolt is precisely aligned with the receiving opening.

    On double doors

The lock can be used to secure one leaf of a double door, provided that the second leaf is reliably fixed and the construction allows the strike to be mounted rigidly.

    Door compatibility:
Before installation, assess the door opening direction, frame profile, door-leaf clearance, hinge play, operation of the door closer, cable routing and the available options for mounting the strike.

    Adjustable 0, 3 or 6-second delay

The locking delay can be set to 0, 3 or 6 seconds. The setting is selected using a DIP switch inside the housing.

The delay allows the door to close completely before the bolt extends. This is particularly important for doors with a mechanical closer, because a bolt that extends too early may strike a door leaf that has not yet closed.

    Recommended setting:
    • 0 seconds – for doors that close quickly and accurately.
    • 3 seconds – for most conventional doors with a closer.
    • 6 seconds – for slower-closing or heavier doors.
The delay is not a door sensor:
The time delay only postpones bolt extension. It does not confirm that the door has actually closed completely. Where reliable status monitoring is required, the feedback signal or a separate door-position sensor must be used correctly.

    4-wire, 12–24 V interface

The lock has a 4-wire interface with a specified voltage of 12–24 V. This parameter applies to the interface, while the operating voltage of the lock itself is 12 V DC.

Before connecting the lock to an access control controller, verify the purpose of each wire, the polarity and the interface connection diagram.

    Before connection:
Check the purpose of the wire colours, polarity and the product's 4-wire interface diagram.

    Power supply selection

The lock requires a stabilised 12 V DC power supply. The specified operating current is 1200 mA, so the power supply must provide at least this current and include additional capacity.

If the same power supply also powers the access controller, card reader, keypad, relay or other components, the current consumption of all devices must be added together.

A longer cable or an insufficient cable cross-section may cause voltage drop. As a result, the lock may not fully extend the bolt, may operate unstably or may fail to lock.

    Power supply safety:
The lock must not be connected directly to a 230 V AC mains supply. Use only a suitable 12 V DC power supply and observe the specified polarity.

    Low heat generation

The electric bolt actuator uses a copper coil designed for a lower temperature rise during long-term operation. This is relevant for an NC lock that is continuously powered while locked.

Correct supply voltage, sufficient cable cross-section and free bolt movement help reduce the thermal load on the coil and extend the service life of the lock.

    Abnormal heating:
If the lock housing becomes very hot, vibrates continuously or produces a loud buzzing sound, disconnect the power and check the voltage, polarity, bolt movement and installation accuracy.

    Durable metal construction

The lock housing is made of aluminium alloy, while the moving bolt is made of stainless steel. This construction is designed for intensive use and increased mechanical resistance.
