    Wireless crane remote control ES-24-12D – 12 buttons, 2 speeds

    The ES-24-12D is an industrial radio remote for operating a crane from a safe distance. When a button is pressed, the transmitter sends a coded command, the receiver relays energise the matching contactor coils, and the contactors switch the motors. Control range is up to ~150 m in open space.

    Key point:
    12 buttons cover three motion axes and still leave buttons for auxiliary functions (e.g. a second hoist or lighting). Two-step buttons let you move the load quickly and set it down slowly and precisely.

    How it works

    The receiver is mounted in or next to the crane control cabinet. Its supply voltage must match the contactor coil control circuit voltage (110/220 V AC), and the relay outputs are wired to the direction and speed contactor coils.

    Turning the key and pressing START energises the MAIN relay and the main contactor KM0. Pressing the mushroom STOP or losing the radio link must drop out KM0 and stop the crane – this is an EN 60204-32 requirement; verify it during commissioning. Two-step button: step 1 – slow speed, step 2 – fast speed.

    The operator stands where the load is best visible instead of next to a pendant. Slow speed helps set the load down precisely, fast speed saves time on travel.

    Practical use

    If the crane has a main and an auxiliary hoist with 2-speed motors, and the bridge and trolley run on frequency inverters, then 8 buttons of the ES-24-12D control these four axes at two speeds, and the remaining 4 buttons are left for a warning beacon and lighting.

    Cons / limitations

    • Radio frequency depends on the version – agree it with us before ordering; a 433 MHz set with a 24–440 V AC/DC receiver is ES-F24-8D
    • 10 A relays are for the control circuit only – contactors are required
    • 2 speeds require a 2-speed motor or a frequency inverter; for a simple crane – ES-24-12S
    • If only three motions are needed, 12 buttons are more than necessary – choose ES-24-8D or ES-F23-6D

    Safety and installation notes

    • Receiver relays switch contactor coils only – motor current flows through contactors, not through the remote.
    • Wire the STOP / MAIN relay into the main contactor KM0 circuit: STOP and loss of the radio link must stop the crane (EN 60204-32).
    • Keep limit switches (SQ) and NC interlocks between opposite directions in the control circuit – the remote does not replace them.
    • The receiver supply voltage must match the control circuit voltage.
    • Wire the second-step relays to the fast-speed contactors or the frequency inverter speed inputs.
    • Before installation or repair, open the main isolator and lock it out (LOTO).

    FAQ

    Can the receiver switch a motor directly?
    No. The relays (10 A) are for the control circuit: they switch the contactor coils, and the contactors carry the motor current.
    Which receiver supply voltage should I choose?
    The same as the contactor coil circuit voltage. The base version is 110/220 V AC; other options are 24/48 V AC and 12/24 V DC.
    Which radio frequency does the remote use?
    It depends on the version – agree it with us before ordering. In the EU the 433 MHz band is most common; check that the frequency is permitted in your country.
    What happens if the radio link is lost?
    Under EN 60204-32 the crane must stop: the STOP/MAIN relay drops out main contactor KM0. Verify this during commissioning.
    How do the two speeds work?
    Each button has two steps: half-press – slow speed, full press – fast speed. A 2-speed motor or frequency inverter is required.
    What batteries does the transmitter use?
    2 × AA. The LED indicator shows when to replace them.
