Modular three-phase smart energy meter with relay | 60 A | 3×230/400 V | Wi-Fi Tuya | remote control | U/I protection | RS485 | DIN | Tomzn TO-DTS238
The Tomzn TO-DTS238 (DTS238-7 TY) is a three-phase smart energy meter for DIN rail with a built-in relay, designed for 3×230/400 V networks up to 60 A. It measures each phase, records imported and exported energy separately and lets you monitor and control the supply from your phone over Wi-Fi. It suits internal metering and remote switching in homes, country houses and small sites.
Key point:
It is a meter and a remotely controlled switch in one housing: the Tuya app shows kWh, U, I, P, PF and frequency, and the output can be switched on or off manually or by a weekly schedule. Voltage and overload protection limits are set in the app – the output is disconnected when they are exceeded. If you need a wired link, the same device has an RS485 Modbus RTU port.Current

Relay, remote on / offAccuracy class
1 (IEC 62053-21)⇄Bidirectional metering
Yes. It measures energy drawn from the grid and energy fed back to the grid – the manufacturer's manual shows import and export separately. There is no MID, so the data is for internal monitoring. Compatibility with inverter power / export control must be confirmed separately – bidirectional metering alone is not enough.Communication interfaces and integration
Wi-Fi (Tuya)
Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz (IEEE 802.11b/g/n, 5 GHz not supported). The Tuya app provides kWh, U, I, P, PF and frequency monitoring, remote on / off, a timer and protection limit settings.RS485 Modbus RTU
Wired port for reading data into a PLC, data logger or Home Assistant (via a Modbus gateway) without the cloud. The manufacturer does not publish the register map for the TY version – confirm it before integration.Operating principle
The meter is mounted on a 35 mm DIN rail in a closed enclosure. The three phases and neutral are connected according to the manufacturer's diagram; the load is connected to the meter output, which is switched by the internal relay.
The meter measures voltage and current on each phase, calculates power, PF and frequency, and accumulates energy separately for import and export. If voltage or current goes beyond the set limits, the output is disconnected.
Values are shown on the LCD and in the Tuya app; you control the output with the button on the housing, the app or a schedule, and data can also be read via RS485.
Why choose the Tomzn TO-DTS238?
One DIN device gives you three-phase internal metering with import / export separation, remote supply control, a timer and voltage / overload protection – without a separate contactor and time relay up to 60 A.Technical specifications

- Remote on / off – control the three-phase supply with the Tuya app or the button on the housing.
- Weekly timer – the load is switched on and off automatically by schedule.
- Voltage and overload protection – the output is disconnected when voltage or current goes beyond the set limits.
- Import and export metering – energy drawn from and fed to the grid is counted separately.
- Phase parameters – U, I, P, PF and frequency help detect phase imbalance.
- RS485 Modbus RTU – wired data readout without the cloud.
- Class 1 to IEC 62053-21 – adequate accuracy for internal metering.
How does it differ from similar models?
EL-TVPS3-80T Also Wi-Fi Tuya and bidirectional, but up to 80 A and with additional phase sequence protection. The TO-DTS238 is limited to 60 A but additionally has RS485 Modbus RTU. ES-EAEMP3-100-TY-W Wi-Fi Tuya meter with protection functions, 4P, 100 A – choose it for loads above 60 A. ES-LY-G100A Wi-Fi Tuya multifunction meter with protections, 5(100) A – a larger current margin than the TO-DTS238. THORGEON 01011 Wi-Fi meter 80(100) A, IP20, measurement only – no relay or protections. The TO-DTS238 also lets you switch the supply off remotely and has a timer, U/I protection and import / export metering. Where is it used?
- Internal metering with remote control in three-phase homes and country houses
- Remote on / off of supply in rental cottages, saunas and holiday homes
- Sites with generation – monitoring of import and export
- Metering and control in workshops, garages and farm buildings
- Three-phase heaters or other loads running on a weekly schedule
- Data collection into Home Assistant or a PLC via RS485 Modbus
Use by need
For home and property owners.
You see consumption on your phone and can switch the supply off while away. For electricians.
Meter, relay, timer and U/I protection in one DIN housing up to 60 A.For automation and smart home enthusiasts.
Tuya app for daily control and RS485 Modbus RTU for local data collection.Practical use
If you rent out a country house with a three-phase supply and want to see the energy used by guests and switch the supply off after they leave, the TO-DTS238 is mounted in the panel after the main circuit breaker. In the Tuya app you see kWh and phase currents, switch the output off with a button or by schedule, and the overload limit prevents the set current from being exceeded. The total load must not exceed 60 A.Pros
- Meter and remotely controlled relay in one DIN housing
- Timer by day of the week
- Overvoltage, undervoltage and overload protection with adjustable limits
- Import and export active energy metering
- Wi-Fi Tuya and RS485 Modbus RTU in one device
- Class 1 to IEC 62053-21
Cons / limitations
- No MID – not suitable for billing; choose the Eastron SDM630-MT for that.
- Current 60 A – for larger loads choose the ES-EAEMP3-100-TY-W or ES-LY-G100A.
- Wi-Fi works on 2.4 GHz only; remote control via the app depends on the Tuya cloud.
- The manufacturer does not state the relay switching current or IP rating – install only in a closed enclosure, load no more than 60 A.
- The RS485 register map for the TY version is not published – confirm it before Modbus integration.
Safety and installation notes
- Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician after disconnecting and verifying the absence of voltage.
- Install a circuit breaker upstream of the meter, sized for the cable cross-section and not exceeding 60 A.
- The internal relay is not a safe isolating device – before any work, disconnect the circuit with the circuit breaker.
- Follow the manufacturer's wiring diagram and phase sequence – otherwise import and export will be mixed up.
- Wi-Fi signal is weakened in a metal cabinet – check 2.4 GHz coverage at the panel before installation.
Quick selection guide
Up to 60 AWi-Fi Tuya + RS485Relay and U/I protectionImport / exportSuitable when you need:- monitor and remotely control a three-phase supply up to 60 A
- switch a load on and off by a weekly schedule
- separate energy drawn from and fed to the grid
Check before use:- that the load current does not exceed 60 A – a higher max current and the relay switching current are not confirmed by the manufacturer
- that the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi signal at the panel location is sufficient
- if connecting via RS485 – that you have the Modbus register map for the TY version
Important reminder: The TO-DTS238 does not replace the grid operator's billing meter, a circuit breaker or an RCD, and the internal relay is not a safe isolating device.FAQ
