    The electronic ON-delay time relay is designed to switch on electrical equipment, contactors, alarm systems, lighting, ventilation, and other control processes after a preset delay from the moment the relay is powered.

    The relay features six selectable time ranges: 10 s, 100 s, 10 min, 100 min, 10 h, and 100 h. The exact delay time is adjusted using a separate control knob, providing an overall adjustment range from approximately 0.1 seconds to 100 hours.

  • Electronic ON-delay timer relay | 0.1 s–100 h | 230V AC / 24V AC/DC | 5A

    Electronic ON-delay timer relay is designed for electrical and automation control circuits where a load or control signal must be switched on only after a preset time has elapsed from the moment power is applied to the relay. It can be used for delayed starting of contactors, intermediate relays, alarm circuits, lighting, ventilation, pumps and other control circuits.

    The relay has six selectable time ranges: 10 s, 100 s, 10 min., 100 min., 10 h and 100 h. The final time value is set using a separate t adjustment knob, providing an overall adjustment range of approximately 0.1 seconds to 100 hours.

    230V AC or 24V AC/DC power supply

    The main relay supply is connected through A1–A2 terminals. The device is intended for a nominal 230V AC system, while the manufacturer specifies an allowable operating voltage range of 150–260V AC.

    Alternatively, the relay can be powered by 24V AC/DC via A2–A3 terminals. When AC power is used, the operating frequency is 50/60Hz.

    Operating principle

    State Relay operation
    Power OFF The relay is in its initial state and timing is not active.
    Power is applied The preset time starts counting.
    Timing in progress The output contact remains in its initial NC state.
    Preset time expires The output relay switches from NC to NO.
    OUT active The NO contact remains active until power to the relay is disconnected.
    Power is disconnected The relay returns to its initial state and can start a new cycle the next time power is applied.

    ON-delay function

    According to the specified operating sequence, this relay works as an ON-delay timer relay. This means that the output does not switch immediately when power is applied. First, the preset time is counted, and only after it expires does the output contact switch.

    Typical operating sequence

    Power ON → timing → end of preset interval → output relay switches → NO contact active.

    ON-delay and OFF-delay are not the same

    If some supplier descriptions mention “Off Delay”, the actual operating diagram must be evaluated. According to the specified operating principle, this model delays switching ON after power is applied, therefore functionally it is described as an ON-delay relay.

    Supply voltage

    The relay has two power supply connection options. The main supply is intended for a nominal 230V AC system, but a wide allowable operating voltage range is specified. A separate 24V AC/DC supply input is also provided.

    Terminals Supply Note
    A1–A2 150–260V AC Nominal 230V AC system, 50/60Hz
    A2–A3 24V AC/DC Alternative low-voltage supply
    230V is the nominal system voltage

    230V AC does not mean that the device can operate only at exactly 230V. The manufacturer specifies a 150–260V AC operating voltage range for the A1–A2 terminals.

    Six time ranges

    The relay allows one of six basic time ranges to be selected. This makes it possible to control both short processes lasting only a few seconds and very long processes lasting several hours using the same device.

    Range Approximate adjustment interval
    10 s Approx. 0.1–10 s
    100 s Approx. 1–100 s
    10 min. Approx. 0.1–10 min.
    100 min. Approx. 1–100 min.
    10 h Approx. 0.1–10 h
    100 h Approx. 1–100 h

    Time setting with two controls

    The time is set using two controls. One is used to select the main time range, while the other is used to set the required value within the selected range.

    Time Steps
    • selects the main time range;
    • 10 s;
    • 100 s;
    • 10 min.;
    • 100 min.;
    • 10 h;
    • 100 h.
    t adjustment knob
    • sets the selected proportion of the range;
    • allows intermediate time values to be selected;
    • the final time depends on the Time Steps position;
    • the actual value should be verified with a test cycle.
    Analogue time setting

    The time is set using mechanical / analogue controls, therefore the actual switching moment may differ slightly from the value selected on the scale. If timing is important for the process, practical verification is recommended.

    Time setting example – 75 minutes

    1. Select the 100 min. range.
    2. Set the t adjustment knob to approximately 75% of the range.
    3. This gives approximately 75 min.
    4. Perform a test cycle and, if necessary, fine-tune the adjustment knob position.

    Setting long intervals

    Setting long intervals of several hours directly using a small analogue scale may be more difficult, so it can be useful to verify the adjustment position first using a shorter range.

    Example – 25 hours

    First, using the 10 s range, approximately 2.5 s can be set and the position of the adjustment knob checked with a stopwatch. Then, without changing the t adjustment knob position, switch the Time Steps selector to the 100 h range. The same proportion corresponds to approximately 25 hours.

    LED indication

    Indication Meaning
    ON Power / timing status indication.
    OUT Indicates that the preset time has expired and the output relay has switched.

    Output contacts

    The relay has a changeover relay output, allowing both NC and NO operating logic to be used. In the initial state the NC contact is active, and after the preset time expires the relay switches to the NO state.

    Contact ratings

    Rated current: 5A
    Rated voltage: 250V AC

    Contact current depends on the load type

    The 5A / 250V AC rating cannot automatically be applied to all types of loads. Motors, transformers, electromagnets, contactor coils and some electronic power supplies may have a higher starting current.

    For such loads, it is recommended to use the relay in the control circuit and switch the main power load through a correctly selected contactor.

    Practical application example

    In a ventilation system, the fan must switch on 30 seconds after the main system starts. The relay is powered via A1–A2 terminals from a 230V AC system. The appropriate seconds range is selected using the Time Steps control, and the t adjustment knob is used to set approximately 30 seconds. When power is applied, the relay starts timing. After the preset interval, the output switches and the NO contact activates the fan contactor coil.

    Important installation and electrical safety information

    The relay must be installed by a qualified electrical specialist. Before installation or servicing, all power sources must be disconnected. Terminals A1–A2 are intended for a nominal 230V AC system with an allowable operating range of 150–260V AC, while A2–A3 are intended for 24V AC/DC supply.
