  • Modular Time Relay | Timer | On-Delay | 0.1-30sec | 5A | 150-260VAC | DIN Rail

    Code: ES-ERV-30

    Single-function ON-delay timer relay is designed to delay the switching on of an electrical circuit, contactor, intermediate relay, or a low-power resistive load for a preset period. When the supply voltage is applied, the relay starts counting the time set by the adjustment knob. Once the preset time has elapsed, the output contact switches.

    The delay time is adjustable from 0.1 to 30 seconds, making the relay suitable for short equipment start-up sequences and control signals. The device operates on 150–260 V AC, features ON (power) and OUT (relay output) LED indicators, and is equipped with a 5 A / 250 V AC output contact for resistive loads.

  • TENSE ERV-30 modular time relay – on-delay 0.1–30 s, 5 A, DIN

    TENSE ERV-30 is a DIN-rail on-delay time relay. When the relay is powered, the output contact changes state only after the preset delay of 0.1 to 30 seconds.

    What does this relay do?

    When supply voltage is applied, the ERV-30 starts timing. After the preset time has elapsed, the changeover output contact switches: the NC contact opens and the NO contact closes. The relay remains in this state until its supply voltage is removed.

    Wiring – what do the ERV-30 terminals mean?

    Terminal Meaning Function
    A1 Supply 150–260 V AC together with A2
    A2 Common supply terminal Used with A1 or A3
    A3 Alternative supply 24 V AC/DC together with A2
    1 NC Normally closed contact
    2 COM Common changeover contact terminal
    3 NO Normally open contact

    Contact state

    Relay state 1 (NC) – 2 (COM) 2 (COM) – 3 (NO)
    Before the preset time has elapsed CLOSED OPEN
    After the preset time has elapsed OPEN CLOSED

    Operating sequence

    1. Supply voltage is applied to the ERV-30.
    2. The preset 0.1–30 s delay starts counting.
    3. During timing, contacts 1 (NC)–2 (COM) are closed.
    4. After the set time has elapsed, the relay changes state.
    5. Contacts 2 (COM)–3 (NO) become closed.
    6. This state is maintained until the ERV-30 supply is switched off.

    Simple wiring logic

    SUPPLY 150–260 V AC → A1 ─── A2
    or
    SUPPLY 24 V AC/DC → A3 ─── A2
    OUTPUT CONTACT:
    1 = NC
    2 = COM
    3 = NO
    t < preset time → 1 ── 2 closed
    t ≥ preset time → 2 ── 3 closed
    ⚠ Important: 5 A does not mean that every 5 A load may be connected directly

    The relay contact is rated 5 A / 250 V AC for a resistive load. Motors, transformers, solenoids, LED power supplies and other inductive or high-inrush loads may impose a much higher stress on the contacts.

    In such applications, the ERV-30 should be used in the control circuit, while the main load is switched by a correctly selected contactor or interposing relay.

    LED indication

    • When supply is applied, the ON LED indicates that the device is powered.
    • While the preset time is being counted, the OUT LED flashes.
    • After the set time has elapsed, the output relay changes state and the OUT indication remains active.

    Practical application example

    Energising a contactor after 10 seconds

    Set the ERV-30 knob to 10 s. When the relay is energised, timing begins. After 10 seconds, contact 2 (COM)–3 (NO) closes and can energise the contactor control circuit.

    This method can be used for sequential starting of several systems and to reduce the likelihood of all loads starting at the same moment.

    Typical applications

    • contactor control circuits;
    • automation panels;
    • equipment start-up sequencing;
    • ventilation automation systems;
    • pump control automation;
    • compressor control circuits;
    • alarm and indication circuits;
    • lighting control automation;
    • industrial control systems.

    When should you choose the ERV-30?

    Requirement ERV-30
    On-delay function required YES
    Adjustable range from 0.1 to 30 s YES
    NC and NO contacts required YES
    DIN rail mounting required YES
    Delay longer than 30 s required NO – choose another range
    Multifunction programmable timer required NO
    ERV-30 is not a multifunction programmable time relay

    Its main function is one specific operation: on-delay. If cyclic operation, pulse timing, off-delay, star-delta timing or several different timing modes are required, choose another type of time relay.

    Frequently asked questions

    What is the TENSE ERV-30 time range?

    The delay time can be adjusted from 0.1 to 30 seconds.

    Which contact closes after the set time has elapsed?

    After the set time has elapsed, contacts 2 (COM)–3 (NO) close.

    What happens before the delay time has elapsed?

    Before the relay operates, contacts 1 (NC)–2 (COM) are closed.

    Can the ERV-30 be used with a contactor?

    Yes. One of its typical applications is delayed energisation of a contactor control circuit.

    Can I connect a 5 A motor directly?

    This cannot be determined from the 5 A rating alone. For motors and other inductive or high-inrush loads, a contactor or suitably rated interposing relay is normally used.

    Can the ERV-30 operate from 24 V?

    The manufacturer’s technical catalogue specifies 24 V AC/DC supply between A3 and A2. During installation, always check the markings on the actual device as well.

    Installer note

    Before wiring the device, check the terminal markings, supply voltage and load characteristics on the actual ERV-30. The markings on the device and the current manufacturer documentation take precedence over a general product description.

    TENSE ERV-30 time relay is intended for on-delay control in electrical and automation systems. Its adjustable 0.1–30 s range, NC/COM/NO changeover contact and DIN mounting make it suitable for contactor control, automation and equipment start-up circuits.
