Smart surface-mounted electromechanical door lock – a 12V DC Fail Secure lock designed for intercom, access control and other door management systems. It has 2 mechanical cylinders, allowing the door to be unlocked with a key, as well as a status feedback signal that enables the controller to monitor the door or lock status. The lock unlocks in less than 1 second, and if the door is not opened, it automatically locks again after approximately 5–8 seconds. Suitable for left- and right-hand doors opening inward or outward.

  • Smart Surface-Mounted Electromechanical Lock with Status Feedback | 12V DC | 2 Cylinders | Fail Secure

Smart surface-mounted electromechanical door lock with two mechanical cylinders and status feedback – designed for intercom, access control and other electrical door control systems. The lock operates according to the Fail Secure principle: without unlocking power it remains locked, while an electrical unlock signal releases the mechanism and allows the door to be opened. If the door is not opened after unlocking, the lock automatically returns to the locked state after approximately 5–8 seconds. Two mechanical cylinders allow the lock to be operated with a key, while the integrated status feedback signal allows a compatible control system to monitor the door or lock status.

    Double-cylinder version with status feedback

This version combines two key functions: two mechanical cylinders for mechanical unlocking with a key and a feedback signal for transmitting door / lock status to an access control system or other compatible controller. This allows the system not only to send an unlock command but also to receive information about the actual door status.

    Operating principle

Status Lock operation Control system response
Normal state The lock bolt keeps the door locked. The feedback signal can be used to monitor the locked status.
Unlock signal received The electromechanical mechanism releases the lock. The controller can register the changed door / lock status.
Door is not opened After approximately 5–8s, the lock automatically returns to the locked state. The feedback signal can inform the controller about the status change.
No unlocking power The Fail Secure mechanism remains locked. The door remains locked.
Mechanical operation The lock is operated mechanically with a key through the cylinder. Mechanical unlocking is possible independently of the electrical command.

    Fail Secure operating principle

An electrical signal is used for unlocking

A Fail Secure lock remains locked in its normal state. When an electrical unlock signal is applied, the electromechanical mechanism releases the lock and allows the door to be opened. If the power supply is interrupted or no unlock signal is present, the mechanism remains locked.

Unlocking power does not mean continuous unlocking

The lock has an automatic relocking function. If the door is not opened after unlocking, the mechanism returns to the locked state after approximately 5–8 seconds.

Door / lock status feedback signal

Status information is sent back to the controller

This version includes an additional status feedback function. It is designed to transmit information about the door or lock status to a compatible access control or door control system. This allows the controller not only to send an unlock command but also to monitor whether the door / lock is in the expected position.

The feedback signal can be used for status indication, event logging, alarm functions or other automation logic.

The feedback signal and unlock signal are separate functions

The unlock signal is sent from the controller to the lock and activates unlocking. The feedback signal transmits information from the lock / door back to the control system.

    Two mechanical cylinders

The lock is designed with two mechanical cylinders. This provides the option of mechanical unlocking with a key and allows the lock to be operated independently of the electrical access control system, for example during maintenance or in the event of a control system failure.

The specific possibility of mechanical unlocking from one or both sides of the door depends on the cylinder installation, door construction and final configuration.

    Automatic relocking

If the lock is electrically unlocked but the door is not opened, the mechanism automatically returns to the locked state after approximately 5–8 seconds. This reduces the risk of the door remaining unlocked after an unused unlock command.

Suitable for different door opening directions

Suitable for left- and right-handed doors and doors opening inward or outward. Before installation, the compatibility of the specific door leaf, frame, cylinders and strike plate must still be checked.

    Practical application example

On an office entrance door, the lock is connected to a 12V DC power supply and an access control controller. When access is granted, the controller sends an unlock signal and the electromechanical mechanism releases the lock in less than 1 second. At the same time, the status feedback signal allows the controller to monitor the door or lock status. If the door is not opened after unlocking, the lock automatically returns to the locked state after approximately 5–8 seconds. If required, it can also be operated mechanically with a key.

Important installation and electrical safety note

The lock must be installed so that the body, lock bolt and strike plate are precisely aligned and operate without mechanical binding. The power supply must provide a stable 12V DC supply and sufficient unlocking current. The status feedback wiring must be connected according to the specific lock and controller wiring diagram. As this is a Fail Secure design, the lock remains locked when unlocking power is unavailable. Therefore, before installation on emergency exits, evacuation routes or other special-purpose doors, the safety requirements of the specific system must be evaluated.
