G3A.144-230.F34 – an ELGAMA-ELEKTRONIKA GAMA 300 series three-phase electronic energy meter, direct connection up to 100 A, 3×230/400 V, with 4 tariffs, metering active and reactive energy (|A|, R+, R-), with maximum demand registers and load profiles. Made in Lithuania, designed for incoming metering at commercial and industrial sites where the supplier or client requires not only kWh but also kvarh data.
Key idea:
For a business site, the electricity bill is not made up of active energy alone – the supplier also charges for reactive energy when the power factor is too low. A meter that can't see reactive energy can't tell you what you're paying for. The F34 version measures reactive energy in both directions alongside active energy (R+ inductive, R- capacitive), registers their maximum demand, and stores a load profile, so its data can be used both to reconcile the bill and to properly select compensation equipment. This is a device from the same GAMA 300 family that ESO uses for billing metering.Rated current In

Active |A|, reactive R+ and R-How it works
The meter is connected directly to a three-phase supply: the phase conductors and neutral go to the meter's terminals, with load current up to 100 A flowing through internal current sensors. From the instantaneous values of current and voltage, the electronic unit calculates active power (kW) and reactive power (kVAr) for each phase, and accumulates energy in separate registers: active |A|, reactive inductive R+ and capacitive R-. Which of the four tariffs is active is selected according to the internal clock's schedule.
Maximum demand registers A+, R+ and R- capture the highest average power over the integration period for each type of energy separately, while the load profile stores consumption rows by time interval. Readings are viewed on the display using the control button, and instantaneous values – A, V, kW and kVAr – help assess load and power factor on site. Data can be transmitted to a data reading system via the manufacturer's specified interface.
What makes the G3A.144-230.F34 worthwhile?
It shows the complete energy balance: how much active energy was consumed under each tariff, how much reactive energy was drawn from and returned to the network, and what the power peaks were. With this data, a company's energy manager can check the supplier's bill, calculate the compensation power required, and assess whether the supply is sufficient for the site – all from a single Lithuanian metering device.Technical specifications

- Active energy metering – total and per-tariff kWh registers for billing and check metering.
- Reactive energy metering R+ / R- – inductive and capacitive kvarh recorded separately, as required by business supplier tariffs.
- Maximum demand A+, R+, R- – the highest average power for each type of energy, for the demand charge and compensation calculations.
- 4 tariffs – energy accumulated by time zone according to the internal clock's schedule.
- Load profile – a consumption history by time interval, for analysing power factor and load dynamics.
- Instantaneous values and reading – A, V, kW, kVAr on the display and the option to connect to a data reading system; the data reading interface depends on the specific meter configuration.
Where is it used?
- Three-phase supplies up to 100 A for commercial sites with a reactive energy charge
- Workshops and production premises with motors, welding and compressor equipment
- Refrigeration and ventilation supplies for shopping centres and warehouses
- Metering for farms and agricultural equipment
- Check metering for tenants of office buildings and business centres
- Sites where reactive power compensation is being planned
- Outdoor metering cabinets and incoming panels
Use by need
For the domestic user.
Domestic consumers are generally not charged for reactive energy, so the F14 version is usually enough for a home supply. The F34 is suitable if the household includes a workshop with powerful motor equipment, or if a complete picture of load and power factor is wanted.For businesses and industry.
This is the main choice for a business supply up to 100 A: the supplier charges for reactive energy, and the F34 lets you keep it under control. The R+ and R- registers and maximum demand provide the figures needed to select compensation equipment and to check the bill.For electricians / engineers.
A direct-connected meter needs incoming protection no larger than 100 A and a cable matched to the full supply current. The enclosure is 325x177x55 mm, 1.5 kg – make sure the metering cabinet is suitable. The tariff schedule, the P max period and the reading interface are agreed with the supplier or client before sealing.Practical example
A metalworking workshop with an 80 A three-phase supply sees a EUR 40–60 reactive energy charge on its bill every month. After installing the G3A.144-230.F34, the registers over a month show 4,100 kWh of active energy and 2,300 kvarh of inductive (R+) energy – a power factor of about 0.87. Based on an A+ maximum of 38 kW and an R+ maximum of 21 kVAr, a 20 kvar compensation bank is selected; the following month the R+ register drops to 350 kvarh, and the reactive energy charge disappears from the bill.
Pros
- Complete energy metering – active and reactive in both directions in a single device.
- Lithuanian manufacturer – the GAMA 300 family used by ESO for billing metering, with service on the spot.
- 100 A direct connection – covers most commercial supplies without a CT.
- Three maximum demand registers – A+, R+, R- for calculating the demand charge and compensation.
- 4 tariffs and a load profile – suits any tariff plan and load analysis.
- Climatic resistance – -40…+60 °C, UV-stabilised enclosure for outdoor panels.
Cons / limitations
- Up to 100 A – larger supplies need a CT-operated GAMA 300 variant.
- Large enclosure (325x177x55 mm, 1.5 kg) – not modular, doesn't fit on a DIN rail in a compact panel.
- Data reading interface depends on the specific meter configuration – confirm compatibility with the reading system before ordering.
- The base F34 code alone does not confirm MID/metrological configuration – billing metering requires the metrological compliance of the specific unit.
- For a domestic user, the reactive metering function is usually unnecessary – F14 is a cheaper alternative.
- IP51 – mounted only in a cabinet or panel, not on an open outdoor wall.
Safety and installation notes
- Connection is carried out by a qualified electrician with the voltage switched off; for billing metering, the meter is sealed by the supplier.
- Incoming protection ahead of the meter must not exceed 100 A – the meter does not protect against overload or short circuit.
- Choose the conductor cross-section to match the full supply current and terminal capacity, and tighten to the manufacturer's specified torque.
- Observe the phase sequence and terminal marking – an incorrect sequence distorts both the active and, especially, the reactive energy readings and the R+/R- direction.
- Install vertically in a metering cabinet; the IP51 rating requires protection against direct water.
- Configure the tariff clock and the P max period before commissioning – changing it later may require the seals to be removed.

Active |A|, reactive R+ and R-Suitable when you need:- a commercial incoming meter up to 100 A with active and reactive energy metering;
- R+/R- registers and maximum demand to select compensation equipment or check the bill;
- a Lithuanian-made device, approved to LST EN 62052-11, 62053-21 and 62053-23.
Check before use:- whether the supply current does not exceed 100 A;
- whether the supplier charges for reactive energy (if not – F14 will do);
- whether the meter fits the metering cabinet (325x177x55 mm);
- whether a remote reading interface is needed and which one – it depends on the specific meter configuration;
- whether the metrological compliance of the specific unit suits billing metering.
Important reminder:
The meter measures but does not protect or compensate – incoming protection and compensation equipment are separate devices. Only a meter installed and sealed by the supplier applies for billing a supplier; a self-installed device is used for check metering.FAQ
How does F34 differ from F14?
The F34 additionally meters reactive energy R+ and R- and their maximum demand; the F14 meters active energy only.What do R+ and R- mean?
R+ is inductive reactive energy drawn from the network (motors, transformers); R- is capacitive energy returned to the network (over-compensation, cables).Are current transformers required?
No, up to 100 A the meter is connected directly.Can it be used to select compensation equipment?
Yes – the R+ maximum and the kWh/kvarh ratio let you calculate the required kvar power.Is it suitable for billing with ESO?
The GAMA 300 family is used for ESO metering, but for billing, the meter installed and sealed by the supplier applies. The base F34 code alone does not confirm MID/metrological configuration; billing metering requires the metrological compliance of the specific unit.Can data be read remotely?
The manufacturer states the option to connect to a data reading system. The data reading interface depends on the specific meter configuration, so confirm it when ordering.Three-phase energy meter | 100 A
