  • Three-phase voltage and current protection relay | overvoltage | undervoltage | phase sequence | unbalance | overcurrent | 63 A | 3×230/400 V | DIN | TEXO-63A

    TEXO-63A is a modular digital protection relay for three-phase 3P+N networks. It continuously measures the voltage and current of each phase, disconnects loads of up to 63 A when a dangerous condition occurs and reconnects them after a set delay once the parameters return to normal.

    Key point:
    One DIN device combines five protections that would normally require separate relays: overvoltage, undervoltage, phase sequence, phase unbalance and overcurrent. Every threshold, delay and trip time is adjustable, so the relay suits both a house supply and three-phase equipment such as pumps, compressors and heat pumps.
    ELSprendimai recommends:
    We recommend this relay for every three-phase distribution board where quality and order matter. It provides reliable protection not only against voltage faults but also against excessive current – all in one module:

    How it works

    The relay is mounted on a 35 mm DIN rail in the distribution board, downstream of the incoming circuit breaker. All three phases and the neutral pass through it, so the device measures the voltage (L–N) and current of each phase in real time.

    If the voltage exceeds the upper limit, drops below the lower limit, the phase voltage difference becomes too large, the phase sequence is wrong or the current exceeds the set value, the relay disconnects the load after the set trip time (0.1–30 s). Short fluctuations do not cause nuisance tripping.

    When the parameters return to normal, the relay automatically reconnects the load after the recovery delay (1–500 s). After an overcurrent trip, the number of automatic reclosures can be limited (1–20) or disabled so that a person inspects the fault first.

    Why choose TEXO-63A?
    It protects equipment against the most common three-phase network problems – overvoltage caused by a broken neutral, a lost phase, swapped phases after grid works and overload – and restores power by itself, without human intervention.

    Main functions

    • Overvoltage protection – disconnects the load when, for example, a broken neutral raises the phase voltage to a dangerous level.
    • Undervoltage protection – prevents motors and compressors from running on too low a voltage, which makes them overheat.
    • Phase sequence control – prevents a three-phase motor from starting in reverse after grid repairs or switching.
    • Phase unbalance control – disconnects when the difference between phase voltages exceeds the set limit, including phase loss.
    • Overcurrent protection 1–63 A – an adjustable limit lets you cap the load of a specific consumer or supply.
    • Automatic reset with delay – power returns by itself, and the delay prevents all devices from starting at once.
    • SYN / ASY modes – choose whether a fault on one phase disconnects all three or only the faulty one (according to the manufacturer's manual).

    Where is it used?

    • Three-phase supplies of houses and farmsteads fed by overhead lines
    • Borehole, sewage and irrigation pump panels
    • Power supply for heat pumps, boiler rooms and ventilation units
    • Compressors, machine tools and workshop equipment
    • Farm buildings, livestock farms, grain dryers
    • Commercial premises, small production workshops
    • Sites powered by a generator or an unstable grid

    Use by need

    For homeowners.
    Protects household appliances and pumps against voltage surges on the overhead line, and power returns automatically even when nobody is home.
    For electricians.
    One relay instead of several – less space in the board, less wiring and one place for all protection settings.
    For farm or workshop managers.
    Phase sequence and unbalance control protect expensive three-phase motors from burning out and downtime.

    Practical example

    If one phase drops out on a rural overhead line, a borehole pump would keep trying to run on two phases and overheat within minutes. With TEXO-63A, the relay detects the unbalance, disconnects the load within the set time and, once the grid operator repairs the line, restores power automatically after the selected delay (e.g. 60 s).

    Pros

    • Five protections in one device
    • All thresholds and delays adjustable
    • Switches loads up to 63 A directly, without a contactor
    • Automatic reset with adjustable delay
    • Limited number of reclosures after overcurrent
    • Voltage and current measurement calibration

    Cons / limitations

    • Not a surge protective device – does not protect against lightning impulses (T1/T2 SPD required)
    • Does not replace a circuit breaker – does not clear short circuits
    • Neutral required – not suitable for networks without N (3P)
    • Loads above 63 A require a contactor or a higher-rated model

    Safety and installation notes

    • Installation and wiring must be done by a qualified electrician with the power off.
    • A circuit breaker or fuses rated according to the cable cross-section and not exceeding 63 A must be installed upstream of the relay.
    • Select conductor cross-section according to the actual load current and tighten the terminals properly.
    • Set the thresholds, delays and operating mode according to the equipment requirements before connecting the load.
    • For three-phase motors, use the mode that disconnects all three phases when one fails.
    • Do not set the overcurrent limit higher than the cable or equipment allows.

    Quick selection guide

    Suitable when you need to:
    • protect a three-phase supply or device against voltage faults;
    • protect motors against phase loss and wrong phase sequence;
    • restore power automatically without human intervention.
    Check before use:
    • that the network has a neutral (N);
    • that the actual load does not exceed 63 A;
    • that there is space in the board and a protective breaker upstream of the relay.
    Important reminder: the relay does not replace a circuit breaker, residual current device or surge protective device – it complements them.

    FAQ

    Does this relay protect against lightning?
    No – impulse overvoltages are handled by T1/T2 surge protective devices, while this relay responds to sustained voltage deviations.
    Can it be used in a single-phase network?
    No, the relay is designed for three-phase 3P+N networks.
    Is a contactor needed?
    The relay switches loads up to 63 A directly; larger loads require a contactor.
    Does power return automatically?
    Yes, once the parameters return to normal – after the set delay of 1–500 s.
    What is the difference between SYN and ASY modes?
    SYN disconnects all three phases together (for motors), ASY disconnects only the faulty phase (for single-phase consumers).
    Does it replace a circuit breaker?
    No, a circuit breaker or fuses must always be installed upstream of the relay.
