Wireless crane remote ES-ML-K4 – 4 buttons, START/STOP, 868 MHz, 230 V AC receiver
ES-ML-K4 is a compact single-speed radio remote with 4 direction buttons (up / down / east / west), START and STOP. The transmitter sends the command over 868 MHz to the receiver, whose relays switch the contactor coils – the motor is always switched by a contactor. Suitable for hoists, crane beams, winches and lifts.
Key point:
ES-ML-K4 controls two motions – hoisting and travel – from one compact transmitter. IP66 protection and a −40…+85 °C operating range let you use it in unheated warehouses and outdoors, and the 230 V AC receiver connects directly to a contactor circuit of that voltage.Buttons

868 MHzReceiver
230 V ACHow it works
The receiver is mounted in or next to the crane panel and supplied from the control circuit voltage (230 V AC). Direction relays are wired into the contactor coil circuit and the STOP / MAIN relay into the main contactor KM0 coil; limit switches and NC interlocking of opposite directions stay in the circuit.
Pressing START makes the receiver energise the main contactor KM0 and the direction buttons become active. While a button is held, the relay for that direction is on; when released, the motion stops. STOP de-energises KM0, and on loss of the radio link the machine must stop – verify this during commissioning (EN 60204-32).
The operator is not tied to a pendant: they walk beside the load, see it up close and control the motion with one hand.
Why choose ES-ML-K4?
ES-ML-K4 combines 4-direction control with IP66 protection and a wide operating temperature range. A practical choice for a hoist on a crane beam working outdoors or in a cold warehouse.Technical specifications
Product type Wireless crane remote control – transmitter + receiver Model ES-ML-K4 Kit contents Transmitter, receiver in housing Buttons 4 direction buttons (up / down / east / west) + START + STOP Speeds 1 speed (single-step buttons) Radio frequency 868 MHz Operating range 150 m, up to ~250 m in open space Receiver supply 230 V AC, 50–60 Hz Transmitter supply Batteries Protection class IP66 Operating temperature −40…+85 °C Transmitter dimensions 138 × 52 mm Receiver dimensions 175 × 93 mm Main functions
- 4 direction buttons – up / down / east / west, single speed
- START – the system is enabled only by a deliberate action
- STOP – de-energises the main contactor
- 868 MHz radio – EU SRD band, 150 m, up to ~250 m in open space
- 230 V AC receiver – connects to a control circuit of the same voltage
- IP66 – protection against dust and powerful water jets
- −40…+85 °C – for unheated halls and outdoor work
How does it differ from similar models?
- ES-ML-K2 – 2 buttons, same 230 V AC and IP66 – when only hoisting is needed
- ES-ML-K6 – 6 buttons, IP68 – for a third motion
- ES-F21-4SE – 4 buttons, 12–440 V AC/DC receiver, IP65 – when the control circuit is not 230 V AC
- ES-LD-BC4 – 4 buttons, modular receiver without housing – for fitting into an existing panel
Where is it used?
- Electric hoists and crane beams
- Single-speed overhead and gantry cranes
- Electric winches
- Lifts and lifting platforms
- Workshops, production halls and warehouses
- Lifting equipment on construction sites
Use by need
For the electrician
the receiver relays connect to the existing contactor circuit – pendant button functions move to radio channelsFor a manufacturing plant
one operator works without a helper and sees the load up closeFor a construction site / warehouse
150 m, up to ~250 m in open space, battery transmitter – no cables underfootPractical use
If a hoist travels along a crane beam in an outdoor yard and the contactor coils are 230 V AC, the ES-ML-K4 receiver is wired into the same circuit: ▲▼ control hoisting, east / west control travel, and IP66 protection withstands rain and dust.Pros
- 4 buttons – hoisting and travel from one remote
- IP66 protection and −40…+85 °C operating temperature
- 230 V AC receiver – straight into a 230 V control circuit
- 868 MHz – EU SRD band
- Range: 150 m, up to ~250 m in open space
Cons / limitations
- Single speed only – for a two-speed drive choose ES-21-4D
- 230 V AC receiver – for another control voltage choose ES-F21-4SE (12–440 V AC/DC)
- If a twist-release mushroom emergency STOP is needed on the transmitter, choose ES-F21-4S+
Safety and installation notes
- The receiver relays switch contactor coils only – motor current must never flow through them.
- The receiver supply voltage must match the control circuit and contactor coil voltage.
- The STOP / MAIN relay de-energises the main contactor KM0; during commissioning check that the crane stops when the transmitter is switched off or the link is lost (EN 60204-32).
- Limit switches (SQ) and NC interlocking of opposite directions stay in the circuit – the radio remote does not replace them.
- Before installation or repair, switch off and lock the main isolator (LOTO).
Quick selection guide
4 buttons + START/STOP868 MHz230 V ACIP66Check before ordering:
- When ordering, state the control circuit voltage and check it on the receiver label on delivery – the receiver and contactor coils must have the same voltage.
- 868 MHz is an EU SRD band; if used outside the EU, check that the frequency is permitted there.
- 4 buttons control two motions (e.g. hoisting and travel) – for a third axis choose a 6-button remote.
FAQ
Can ES-ML-K4 be connected directly to the motor?
No. The receiver relays are for the control circuit: they switch the contactor coils, and the contactors switch the motor. What receiver supply voltage is needed?
The receiver runs on 230 V AC, 50–60 Hz, so it suits contactor coils rated 230 V AC. For another control voltage choose a model with a 12–440 V AC/DC receiver, e.g. ES-F21-4SE.What happens if the radio link is lost?
The receiver must de-energise the main contactor and the machine stops. Test this function during commissioning, before handing the equipment over for use.Can it control a two-speed hoist?
No – ES-ML-K4 has single-step buttons. For a two-speed drive choose ES-21-4D with two-step buttons.What is the operating range?
150 m, up to ~250 m in open space. Steel structures and walls shorten the range, so test it at the actual workplace. Are limit switches still needed?
Yes. The radio remote only replaces the push-button station – limit switches and opposite-direction interlocking stay in the circuit.Who is ES-ML-K4 for?
ES-ML-K4 is a 4-button single-speed radio remote with an 868 MHz link and a 230 V AC receiver. Choose it when an existing contactor circuit needs simple wireless control instead of a pendant.
