Membrane cable grommet (diaphragm) | for M9–M120 holes | for cable Ø2–100 mm | grey | IP65 | HT HSS
HSS is a membrane cable grommet (diaphragm) by HT Hi Tech Polymers (Finland), made of halogen-free TPE-SEBS. It is pressed into a round hole in the enclosure, and the membrane is pierced or cut to suit the cable. 11 sizes for holes from Ø9 to Ø120 mm and cables from Ø2 to Ø100 mm.
Key point:
The grommet seals without a thread or nut – a round hole of the right size is enough. Three numbers matter when choosing: the hole Ø (the number after M), the outer cable Ø and the enclosure wall thickness. The range shown in the variant selector (e.g. 1.5–4.5 mm) is the wall thickness, not the cable Ø – the cable Ø is given in the table next to each code.Enclosure hole

Measure the hole in the enclosure and the outer cable Ø, then pick the code whose number after M matches the hole Ø.
Press the grommet into the hole, pierce or cut the membrane slightly smaller than the cable Ø and pull the cable through.
The flexible TPE-SEBS membrane hugs the cable and the grommet rim seals the hole – IP65 (HSS-M100, HSS-M120 – IP54).
What does the HT HSS grommet give you?
It closes and seals a cable hole without a thread, nut or tools. A quick solution in panels and boxes where the hole is already drilled and the wall is thin – from 1.0 mm (HSS-M9) to 6.0 mm (HSS-M100, HSS-M120).Technical specifications

- Seals without thread or nut – a round hole is enough
- 11 sizes – for Ø9–120 mm holes and Ø2–100 mm cables
- Membrane to suit the cable – pierced or cut on site
- IP65 – for sizes HSS-M9…HSS-M60
- Halogen-free TPE-SEBS – for −40…+130 °C
- For thin and thicker walls – 1.0 to 6.0 mm depending on size
Where is it used?
- Cable entries through the bottom or side of distribution and automation panels
- Junction and distribution boxes with drilled holes
- Control enclosures of ventilation and HVAC units
- Control cabinets in pump stations and boiler rooms
- Machine housings and control pendants
- Lighting control boxes
- Entries of large power cables into cabinets (HSS-M100, HSS-M120)
Use by need
For the panel builder.
Holes can be drilled to standard Ø and the grommet chosen by the number after M – no nuts or threads. For the installer.
The membrane is pierced on site to suit the actual cable, so one size covers a wide cable Ø range. For the designer.
Hole Ø, cable Ø, wall thickness and IP are known for every code and can go straight into the specification.Practical application
If the box wall already has a Ø20 mm hole and a Ø11 mm cable has to go in, choose HSS-M20 (hole Ø20 mm, cable Ø7–12 mm, wall 1.5–4.5 mm), press it in, pierce the membrane slightly smaller than Ø11 mm, pull the cable through and fix it inside the box.Pros
- 11 sizes for Ø9–120 mm holes
- For cables from Ø2 to Ø100 mm
- IP65 without thread or nut (HSS-M9…HSS-M60)
- Halogen-free TPE-SEBS, −40…+130 °C
- Fitted by hand, no tools
- Light grey RAL7035 matches standard panels
Cons / limitations
- The membrane does not provide strain relief – fix the cable inside or choose a gland with nut (e.g. 00841 PG13.5, Ø6–12 mm, IP68)
- HSS-M100 and HSS-M120 – IP54 only; for a Ø52–60 mm cable needing IP67 – MET-M80 (Ø40–60 mm)
- Requires an accurate round hole and a wall thickness within the stated range
- One grommet – one cable; for many cables a membrane cable entry plate HTC-50 (for 216×84 mm cut-out) is more convenient
Safety and installation notes
- Drill holes and lead in cables only with the power disconnected
- Remove chips and burrs after drilling – a sharp edge can cut the grommet
- The hole Ø must match the number after M and the wall thickness must be within the stated range
- Pierce or cut the membrane slightly smaller than the cable Ø
- Fix the cable inside the enclosure
- The grommet is not a fire barrier
Quick selection guide
Hole: Ø = number after MCable: Ø2–100 mm by codeWall: 1.0–6.0 mm by codeIP65 (M100, M120 – IP54)Suitable when you need:- to seal a single cable through a round hole without a nut
- to close cable holes in panels with thin sheet metal or plastic
- a halogen-free entry for −40…+130 °C
Check before use:- the outer cable Ø from the table – the range in the variant selector (e.g. 1.5–4.5 mm) is the wall thickness, not the cable Ø
- the hole Ø in the enclosure – it must match the number after M
- the enclosure wall thickness – it must fall within the code's range
Important reminder: The HSS grommet does not replace a cable gland with nut where the cable needs strain relief, and it is not a fire barrier.FAQ
What does 1.5–4.5 mm in the variant selector mean – is it the cable Ø?
No – it is the enclosure wall thickness the grommet fits; the cable Ø is given in the table next to each code (e.g. HSS-M20 – Ø7–12 mm). What does the number after M mean?
It is the mounting hole Ø in the enclosure in millimetres: HSS-M20 is for a Ø20 mm hole, HSS-M120 for a Ø120 mm hole. What is the IP rating?
According to the manufacturer IP65, while the largest sizes HSS-M100 and HSS-M120 are IP54.Can several cables go through one grommet?
No, one grommet is for one cable; for several cables use several grommets or a membrane cable entry plate such as HTC-50.Does the grommet hold the cable against pull-out?
No, fix the cable inside the enclosure or choose a PG cable gland with nut. What is the material and operating temperature?
Halogen-free TPE-SEBS, operating temperature −40…+130 °C.Manufacturer documents
