Round membrane grommet | for Ø28 mm hole | 3× Ø3–4 + 3× Ø5–9 mm | grey | IP65 | HT Hi Tech Polymers | HTL-28
HTL-28 is a small round membrane for cases where several thin cables must enter a box or small enclosure through one round hole. It is fitted into a Ø28 mm hole, and each cable passes through its own cone. The six cones come in two sizes: three for the thinnest wires and three for slightly thicker cables.
Key point:
One Ø28 mm hole replaces several separate glands. This is especially convenient in small junction and distribution boxes where the wall has no room for several threaded entries and the cables differ in thickness – for example power and signal cables.Enclosure hole

IP65How it works
A Ø28 mm hole is drilled or punched in the enclosure, and the grommet is pressed into it so that the wall (1.5–5 mm) sits in its groove.
A separate cone is cut for each cable at the step slightly smaller than the cable's outer Ø and the cable is pushed through – the TPE-SEBS membrane grips it tightly.
The hole is sealed to IP65, uncut cones stay closed as a reserve.
Why choose HTL-28?
One Ø28 mm hole instead of up to six separate entries: no threads, lock nuts or several different glands. Two cone groups let you combine the thinnest wires (Ø3–4 mm) and cables up to Ø9 mm in one place.Technical specifications
Product type Round membrane grommet for cable entry Code HTL-28 (HTL-28-6) Manufacturer HT Hi Tech Polymers Oy (Finland) Enclosure hole Ø28 mm Cable openings 3× Ø3–4 mm; 3× Ø5–9 mm Max. number of cables 6 Enclosure wall thickness 1.5–5 mm Mounting pressed into a round hole, no screws Degree of protection IP65 (EN 60529, per manufacturer's datasheet) Operating temperature −40…+100 °C Material TPE-SEBS, halogen-free Colour grey Marking CE Main functions
- Six cones in one hole – up to 6 cables through one Ø28 mm hole
- Two sizes – 3 cones Ø3–4 mm for thin wires and 3 cones Ø5–9 mm for cables
- Tool-free mounting – the grommet is pressed into the hole, no screws or nuts
- IP65 sealing – protection against dust and water jets
- Reserve – uncut cones remain sealed for future cables
Where is it used?
- Junction and distribution boxes with several thin cables
- Outdoor junction boxes for video cameras and sensors
- Small automation enclosures with sensor and control wires
- Lighting control and luminaire connection boxes
- Measuring instruments and data acquisition modules
- Plastic or metal enclosures with only one round Ø28 mm hole
Use by need
For the low-voltage installer.
Power and signal wires enter a camera or sensor box through one hole – without several separate glands. For the electrician.
One Ø28 mm hole is enough, the grommet is pressed in by hand and cones are cut on site to suit the cable. For the equipment manufacturer.
In a small enclosure one hole replaces several entries – leaving more room on the wall and inside.Practical use
If an outdoor camera junction box needs a data cable Ø6 mm, a power cable Ø8 mm and two sensor wires Ø3.5 mm, HTL-28 is pressed into one Ø28 mm hole, 4 cones are cut and 2 remain closed for an additional cable.Pros
- Up to 6 cables through one Ø28 mm hole
- Two cone groups: Ø3–4 and Ø5–9 mm
- Mounting without screws or nuts
- Fits a 1.5–5 mm wall
- IP65 per manufacturer's datasheet
- Halogen-free TPE-SEBS, −40…+100 °C
Cons / limitations
- Not suitable for cables thicker than Ø9 mm – choose HTL-50 (1× Ø12–21 mm, for a Ø50 mm hole)
- For more than 6 thin cables choose HTL-32 (14× Ø3–7 mm)
- The membrane does not provide strain relief – secure cables inside the enclosure or use a gland with a nut (e.g. PG-09B)
- It is not a fire barrier
Safety and installation notes
- Work in the box only with the voltage switched off.
- Drill an accurate Ø28 mm hole and remove swarf and burrs – a sharp edge can cut the membrane.
- One cable – one cone; cut the cone at the step slightly smaller than the cable Ø.
- Check that the wall sits in the grommet groove around the whole circumference.
Quick selection guide
Hole Ø28 mmWall 1.5–5 mm3× Ø3–4 + 3× Ø5–9 mmIP65, −40…+100 °CSuitable when you need:- to bring several thin cables through one round hole
- to seal a small box or enclosure to IP65
- to fit an entry quickly without threads or nuts
Check before use:- that the enclosure hole is exactly Ø28 mm and the wall is 1.5–5 mm
- the outer cable Ø: no more than 3 cables Ø3–4 mm and 3 cables Ø5–9 mm
- that the cables will be secured inside against pull-out
Important reminder: HTL-28 seals the hole (IP65) but does not secure cables against pull-out and is not a fire barrier – fix the cables inside the enclosure.FAQ
What size hole is required?
A round Ø28 mm hole. How many cables can be used?
