    Code: CZ-CZ1000-00
    Barcode: 5901867108920

DIN rail twilight switch with an external sealed IP65 sensor: 2–100 lx, 20 A, up to 4800 W, 220–240 V AC.

  • Modular photo relay with external sensor | 20 A | 2–100 lx | GTV CZ-1

GTV CZ-1 is a twilight switch that turns lighting on at dusk and off at dawn. The relay is mounted in the panel on a DIN rail (IP20), while light is measured by a separate sealed IP65 sensor installed outdoors. The switch-on threshold is adjustable within 2–100 lx – the typical range for street, yard and garden lighting.

    Manufacturer's warranty – 5 years
GTV gives a 5-year manufacturer's warranty for this model.
    Key point:
The relay stays in a dry panel; only the sealed sensor is outdoors. Lighting is on only when it is actually dark, so there is no seasonal timer adjustment, and the 20 A contact handles a substantial resistive load.

    Operating principle

The external sensor measures ambient illuminance. When light falls below the set threshold, the relay switches the output and the lighting on; when light increases, it switches them off.

The threshold is set smoothly with the knob on the front of the relay within 2–100 lx. A lower value – lighting switches on later, in darkness; a higher value – earlier, still at dusk.

The relay housing (IP20) is intended only for a panel, while the sensor (IP65) withstands rain, humidity and temperature changes outdoors.

    Why 2–100 lx?
Street and yard lighting is usually switched on at 5–20 lx, shop windows and signs at 30–80 lx. The 2–100 lx range covers both cases. If lighting must be controlled by daylight (canopies, overcast days), choose a relay with a wider range.

    Main functions

    • Automatic switch-on at dusk – lighting is on only when needed.
    • Adjustable 2–100 lx threshold – match the switch-on moment to the site.
    • 20 A output – for resistive loads up to 4800 W.
    • Sealed IP65 sensor – only the sensor is installed outdoors, the relay stays in the panel.
    • DIN rail mounting – fits a standard panel next to protective devices.

How does it differ from similar models?

    • VEXEN TWR1 – Similar 1–100 lx range, but 16 A, only 1 module and an AUTO / ON / OFF mode selector.
    • F&F AZ 112 – Wider 2–1000 lx range, 1 module, LED up to 250 W, sensor cable up to 10 m.
    • Promfactor FRS21 – The same 2–100 lx range, but a 25 A output – for even larger loads.
    • GTV CZ-2 – Wall-mounted relay from the same GTV line with a timer – when lighting must switch off after a set time.

    Where is it used?

    • Street and driveway lighting
    • Yard, path and garden luminaires
    • Facade and entrance lighting
    • Shop windows and illuminated signs
    • Floodlights at farms and warehouse sites
    • Replacing timers in existing panels

    Use by need

    For the electrician.
Relay in the panel next to the circuit breaker, sensor outdoors, threshold set with a knob – a simple, clear solution.
For the home or farmstead owner.
Yard and garden luminaires switch on at dusk every evening, with no timer to adjust.
For the company or farm manager.
Site lighting follows real light – less electricity and less manual work.

    Practical use

If a farmstead panel has a mechanical timer controlling the yard and garden luminaires, the CZ-1 replaces it. Mount the relay on the DIN rail in place of the timer and the sensor outdoors on the north wall, where the luminaires themselves do not reach it. Set the knob to about 10 lx – lighting will switch on at dusk all year round without adjustment.

    Pros

    • Adjustable 2–100 lx switch-on threshold
    • 20 A output, up to 4800 W resistive load
    • Sealed IP65 sensor
    • Relay protected in the panel on a DIN rail
    • Wide 220–240 V AC supply range

    Cons / limitations

    • The manufacturer gives no LED load limit – for LED drivers and floodlights with high inrush current use a modular contactor
    • Takes 2 modules – in a small panel the VEXEN TWR1 (1 module) is more compact
    • Range only up to 100 lx – for daylight-based control choose the F&F AZ 112
    • No timer for night-time switch-off – the VEXEN DTWR972 offers this function

    ⚠ Safety and installation notes

    • Mount the sensor where daylight reaches it but the light of the controlled luminaires does not – otherwise the lighting will start flickering.
    • Do not point the sensor south into direct sun or towards the road where car headlights hit it.
    • The relay housing is IP20 – panel mounting only; only the IP65 sensor is installed outdoors.
    • For LED groups and floodlights with high inrush current the relay must control a contactor coil, not the load directly.
    • Protect the circuit with a circuit breaker selected for the line and load.
    • Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician after disconnecting and verifying the absence of voltage.

    Quick selection guide

    2–100 lx
    20 A / 4800 W
    220–240 V AC
    2 DIN modules
    Suitable when you need to:
    • switch outdoor lighting on automatically at dusk;
    • replace a timer in the panel;
    • directly control a larger resistive load.
    Check before use:
    • load type and inrush current (LED – via a contactor);
    • whether the panel has 2 free modules;
    • where the sensor will be mounted and how its cable will be routed.
Important reminder: a photo relay controls lighting by light level, but it does not replace protective devices and does not switch lighting off in the middle of the night – that requires a relay with a timer.

    FAQ

Where should the sensor be mounted?
Outdoors, on the north side of the building, where daylight reaches it but not the controlled luminaires or car headlights.
What threshold should I set for yard lighting?
Usually 5–20 lx is enough; for shop windows and signs 30–80 lx.
Can LED floodlights be connected directly?
The manufacturer states that the relay is LED-compatible but gives no power limit – for larger LED groups use a modular contactor.
Can the relay be installed outdoors?
No, the relay (IP20) is mounted in a panel on a DIN rail; only the IP65 sensor goes outdoors.
How much panel space does it take?
    2 modules (about 36 mm).
