    Key idea:
For three-phase motors and compressors, the greatest danger is not overload but a lost phase or a swapped phase sequence – a circuit breaker does not notice this, and the motor overheats within minutes. The ES-LY-G100A monitors all three phases at once, disconnects all four poles whenever any parameter goes outside its limits, and restores the supply itself once the network is back to normal. It also counts kWh and reports events to the phone – it is a combination of protection and monitoring, not a billing meter.

    How it works

The device is connected in series into the three-phase line, downstream of the main breaker: L1, L2, L3 and N enter the input terminals, the load connects to the output terminals. Since this is a direct-connection meter rated 5(100) A, current transformers are not needed – current up to 100 A flows through internal measuring shunts. The measuring section continuously calculates the voltage, current and total energy of each phase, and a backlit LCD display shows the relevant parameters; in a fault condition the backlight switches to red, so a problem is visible from a distance.

The protection logic compares the measured values against user-set limits: overvoltage and voltage drop, overload, undercurrent, phase imbalance, phase loss and phase sequence. When a limit is breached, a delay function applies (brief network spikes are ignored), and if the fault persists, the relay disconnects all four poles. Once parameters return to normal, automatic restoration switches the supply back on after a set time. The Wi-Fi module transmits readings and events to the phone via Tuya Smart Life, allows limits to be changed, and lets the switch be controlled remotely.

    What makes the ES-LY-G100A worthwhile?
It replaces several separate devices – a voltmeter, an ammeter, a phase-monitoring relay, a voltage relay with automatic restoration and a timer – with a single DIN module whose settings can be changed from a phone. The board stays compact, and the owner gets both protection and a view of consumption.

    Key features

    • Voltage protection – disconnects the load on overvoltage or a voltage drop, and restores supply itself once the network is back to normal.
    • Phase monitoring – detects phase loss and incorrect phase sequence, protecting three-phase motors from overheating and reverse rotation.
    • Current monitoring – protection against overload, undercurrent and phase imbalance with adjustable limits.
    • Remote monitoring and configuration – parameters, events and settings available in the Tuya Smart Life app.
    • Energy metering – real-time consumption (kWh) monitoring for internal metering and analysis.
    • Thermostat and timer – load control by temperature and schedule without additional modules.

    Where is it used?

    • Home three-phase supplies with heat pumps, boilers and EV chargers
    • Workshops and garages with three-phase motors (compressors, machine tools, pumps)
    • Rented premises – consumption monitoring and remote disconnection
    • Offices and commercial buildings with sensitive IT and refrigeration equipment
    • Small production lines, where phase sequence and phase-loss protection matter
    • Solar-power boards – network-parameter monitoring and protection

    Use by need

    For the domestic user.
The device protects household appliances against voltage surges and a broken neutral, while showing on the phone how much the house is consuming. The timer can switch a boiler or heating on to a schedule, and while away you can check and, if needed, switch off the power remotely.
    For businesses and industry.
In premises with three-phase motors, phase-loss and phase-sequence control is essential – the ES-LY-G100A provides this along with consumption monitoring. In rented production or retail premises, the landlord sees energy use without a site visit and receives a fault notification before the tenant even calls.
    For electricians / engineers.
The device is connected directly up to 100 A with conductors up to 35 mm² – a circuit breaker is mandatory upstream for short-circuit protection (the manufacturer states that the meter does not replace circuit breakers). Set the voltage limits according to the object's sensitivity, the delay so that brief spikes do not cause a trip, and the restoration time so that motors are not started immediately once voltage returns. Make sure 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi is available where the board is located.

    Practical example

In a woodworking workshop with a 3x32 A supply and a 7.5 kW compressor, the meter is installed downstream of the main breaker. The overvoltage limit is set to 255 V, the drop limit to 195 V, the imbalance limit to 25%, and the restoration delay to 90 s. When one phase is lost on the network, the device disconnects all four poles after the set delay, the display turns red, and the owner receives a phone notification – the compressor motor is left undamaged. Once the phase returns, supply is restored automatically after 90 s, and monthly consumption (about 900 kWh) is visible in the app.

    Pros

    • A full set of protections in one module – voltage, current, imbalance, phase-loss and phase-sequence control without separate relays.
    • Automatic restoration – after a network fault, supply returns by itself, no site visit needed.
    • Remote monitoring and control – readings, limits and the switch accessible on the phone via Tuya Smart Life.
    • LCD with red fault backlight – parameters and faults visible locally, without the app.
    • Direct connection up to 100 A – no current transformers, terminals accept conductors up to 35 mm².
    • Thermostat and timer – additional control functions without extra modules.

    Cons / limitations

    • No MID approval – readings are intended for monitoring and internal metering, not for official billing with a supplier or a legally binding resale arrangement.
    • Does not replace a circuit breaker – no short-circuit protection, an MCB is required upstream.
    • 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only – 5 GHz networks are not supported; without the internet, only local protection and the display remain.
    • Setting the limits requires some expertise – limits that are too tight cause frequent trips, too loose provide insufficient protection.
    • The accuracy class and exact protection-adjustment ranges are not stated in the source – confirm them in the manufacturer's datasheet.

    Safety and installation notes

    • Install only with the voltage disconnected and its absence verified on all three phases and the neutral.
    • A circuit breaker sized to the conductor (up to 100 A) is required upstream of the meter – the manufacturer explicitly states that the device does not replace circuit breakers.
    • The neutral must be connected without fail – without it, phase voltages are measured incorrectly and voltage protection does not work.
    • Use copper conductors up to 35 mm² and tighten the terminals correctly; check that terminals do not overheat after the first load cycle.
    • Set the restoration delay with motors and compressors in mind – restarting them immediately after voltage returns overloads them.
    • Operate at no more than 2000 m altitude and no more than 85% humidity; ensure Wi-Fi reception inside the board.

The ES-LY-G100A is a protection and monitoring device, not a billing meter – use an MID-approved meter for legally valid metering. Short-circuit protection is provided only by a circuit breaker installed upstream of it.

    FAQ

Can it be used for billing tenants?
Only for a private agreement – the device has no MID approval, so official metering requires a certified meter.
    Are current transformers needed?
No – 5(100) A means direct connection, conductors up to 35 mm² connect to the terminals.
Does it protect against short circuit?
No – the manufacturer states that a separate circuit breaker is required upstream of the meter.
Does protection work without the internet?
Yes – all protection functions and the display work locally; the internet is needed only for remote monitoring and control.
    What does phase-sequence protection mean?
If the phases are connected in the wrong order, the device does not switch on the supply – three-phase motors do not run in reverse.
Is it suitable for a single-phase network?
No, the model is designed only for three-phase 3×230/400 V networks.
