  • Panel-mounted three-phase power analyser | 1–5 A CT operated | 96x96 mm | Modbus | harmonics up to the 31st | 2DI/2DO | 35 alarms | IP52 | PowerLogic PM5330 | Schneider Electric METSEPM5330

    Schneider Electric PowerLogic PM5330 (METSEPM5330) is a 96×96 mm panel-mount three-phase power and energy analyser with harmonic analysis up to the 31st, 256 kB memory for data logs, 4 tariffs, two digital inputs, two digital outputs and two relays. Current is measured via 1 A / 5 A current transformers, and voltage is connected directly up to 690 V phase-to-phase.

    Key point:
    PM5330 doesn't just measure – it reacts. The relays can shed non-essential loads or trigger an alarm when a limit is reached, the inputs accept pulses from other meters or switch status signals, and the memory stores events and measurement history even if the connection to SCADA is lost.

    Operating principle

    The device is mounted in the panel door in a 92×92 mm cut-out. Voltage is connected directly (up to 690 V L-L) and current via external CTs with 1 A or 5 A secondary. The CT ratio is set in the menu, so the same model suits an incomer of any size.

    Sampling 64 times per cycle, it calculates all the main network parameters, THD and individual harmonics up to the 31st. Energy can be split across up to 4 tariffs. 35 alarms monitor set limits; when an alarm is active, a relay or digital output can be controlled.

    Events, alarms, min/max values and selected parameters are recorded in the internal memory with a timestamp. All data is available via RS485 Modbus RTU / ASCII.

    Why choose PM5330?
    It combines a power analyser, tariff meter, data logger and simple control module – fewer separate devices in the panel and less wiring.

    Key features

    • Harmonic analysis up to the 31st – more detailed power quality diagnostics than entry-level meters.
    • 4 tariffs – energy metering by time of day or supply conditions.
    • 2 relays – load shedding, alarm signalling, simple alarm-based control.
    • 2 digital inputs – pulse collection from other meters (water, gas, heat) or monitoring of switch status.
    • Internal logs – timestamped event and measurement history, retained even without a SCADA connection.
    • Modbus RS485 – standard integration into BMS, SCADA, PLC, EcoStruxure.

    Where is it used?

    • Main incoming panels of buildings and factories
    • 0.4 kV switchboards of transformer substations
    • Sites with many variable frequency drives, UPS systems and rectifiers
    • Data centres and critical infrastructure sites
    • Load management with power limiting (peak shaving)
    • Solar PV, generator and battery storage panels
    • Energy management systems in apartment and commercial buildings
    • Monitoring of power factor correction equipment

    Use by need

    For energy engineers / maintenance managers.
    Time-stamped event and alarm logs make it possible to determine after the fact what caused a trip and when – even if the SCADA connection was down at the time.
    For business owners.
    4 tariffs and relay-based demand limiting help control electricity costs and avoid charges for exceeding the contracted capacity.
    For automation / SCADA integrators.
    2 digital inputs, 2 outputs and 2 relays allow pulses from other meters to be collected and simple control to be performed without additional I/O modules.

    Practical application

    If a company's incoming power approaches the contracted limit, a PM5330 alarm uses a relay to shed a non-critical load such as water heaters or part of the ventilation. The event is logged with a timestamp, and via a digital input the same device also counts pulses from a nearby water meter.

    Advantages

    • Advanced harmonic analysis – up to the 31st harmonic.
    • Built-in relays and I/O – control without additional modules.
    • Internal memory – data and event logs.
    • 4 tariffs – flexible energy metering.
    • Class 0.5S accuracy and direct voltage connection up to 690 V.
    • IP52 at the front – suitable for industrial panels.

    Disadvantages / limitations

    • Current transformers required – no direct connection.
    • Not MID certified – for billing, choose PM5331.
    • RS485 Modbus only – Ethernet communication requires a gateway or the PM5500 series.
    • More expensive than PM5110 – if you don't need relays, I/O and logs, PM5110 may be sufficient.

    Safety and installation notes

    • Installation by a qualified electrician with the supply isolated.
    • Never open-circuit CT secondaries under load – use a test terminal block with shorting links.
    • Protect the voltage measuring circuits with fuses.
    • Switch only permissible loads with the relay contacts; for larger loads use an interposing contactor.
    • Check CT polarity and phase matching, and set the correct CT ratio.
    • Set the time and date so that log timestamps are correct.

    Suitable when you need:
    • power quality diagnostics with event history;
    • multi-tariff energy metering;
    • measurement-based load control;
    • pulse collection from other meters.
    Check before use:
    • that 1 A / 5 A current transformers are available;
    • that a 92×92 mm cut-out can be made in the panel;
    • that MID (otherwise PM5331) or Ethernet (otherwise PM5500 series) is not required;
    • that the relay contact rating is sufficient for the controlled circuit.
    Important reminder: the relays are intended for signalling and control, not circuit protection. Overload and short-circuit protection is provided by circuit breakers.
