    Code: SNZB-02DR2

Zigbee temperature and humidity sensor with a large 3.6'' LCD and accuracy of ±0.2 °C and ±2 % RH. The app calculates dew point and VPD, keeps up to 6 months of history and sends alerts when limits are exceeded.

  • SONOFF SNZB-02DR2 smart temperature and humidity sensor with 3.6'' LCD

SONOFF SNZB-02DR2 (AirGuard TH) is a battery-powered indoor temperature and relative humidity sensor with a large 3.6'' LCD. Readings are shown on the display and sent over Zigbee to your smart home system. In the app the sensor calculates dew point and VPD (vapour pressure deficit), stores up to 6 months of history and can trigger automation scenes.

    Key idea:
This is more than a wall thermometer: the sensor becomes the eyes of your smart system. Based on its data you can switch a humidifier, dehumidifier or air conditioner automatically, and a phone alert warns you when humidity or temperature crosses a limit. Accuracy of ±0.2 °C and ±2 % RH is good enough both for living spaces and for plant growing, where VPD matters.

    Operating principle

The sensor measures air temperature and relative humidity and shows them on the display together with the 24-hour minimum and maximum. The display can also show readings from another compatible SONOFF sensor (SNZB-02, 02P, 02WD, 02D, 02LD) connected to the same gateway.

Data is sent via Zigbee (IEEE 802.15.4) to a gateway – SONOFF Bridge-P, Bridge-U, NSPanel Pro or iHost. The sensor reports on change: by default ±0.2 °C or ±1 % RH; the threshold is adjustable from ±0.2 to ±1 °C and from ±1 to ±5 % RH, and the interval from 5 s to 1 h.

Without a gateway the sensor can be used in proximity mode – it connects directly to your phone when it is within range. Once a gateway is connected this mode is disabled, and switching modes resets the device to factory settings.

Why choose the SONOFF SNZB-02DR2 sensor?
One device shows the climate on the spot and logs data for analysis. Dew point helps spot condensation and mould risk, VPD helps assess plant growing conditions, and 6 months of history show when and why conditions changed.

    Main functions

    • Temperature and humidity measurement – with ±0.2 °C and ±2 % RH accuracy
    • 3.6'' LCD display – readings visible without a phone
    • 24 h minimum and maximum – daily swings visible at a glance
    • Dew point and VPD – condensation risk and plant conditions
    • History up to 6 months – max, min and average curves in the app
    • Phone alerts – when set temperature or humidity limits are exceeded
    • Automation scenes – control of humidifier, dehumidifier or air conditioner
    • Remote sensor display – shows data from another SONOFF sensor
    • Proximity mode – works with a phone without a gateway

How does it differ from similar products?

SNZB-02 / SNZB-02P without display Smaller and cheaper, but readings are visible only in the app. SNZB-02DR2 has a large display and can show another sensor's data.
Simple digital thermo-hygrometer Shows readings locally only, keeps no history, sends no alerts and controls no other devices.
Wired 0–10 V / 4–20 mA sensors Intended for building automation controllers. SNZB-02DR2 is for Zigbee smart home systems, not industrial control.

    Where is it used?

    • Living rooms and bedrooms
    • Children's rooms where humidity matters
    • Greenhouses and grow tents (VPD)
    • Basements, storerooms, wardrobes – humidity and mould control
    • Server rooms and technical rooms
    • Summer houses and rental homes for remote monitoring

    Use by need

    Beginner.
Place or mount the sensor in the room and add it to the SONOFF app – the display immediately shows temperature, humidity and daily extremes.
    Experienced installer.
Pair it with a Zigbee gateway or Home Assistant (ZHA, Zigbee2MQTT) and create a scene: when humidity exceeds the limit, switch on a dehumidifier or fan via a smart relay module.
    Energy engineer / designer.
Use it as an affordable climate monitoring point in several rooms: history and dew point help assess ventilation performance and condensation risk.

    Practical use

Items stored in a basement started to go mouldy. After installing the SNZB-02DR2 and checking the history it turns out that at night humidity rises above 75 % RH and the wall temperature approaches the dew point. A scene in the app switches on a dehumidifier via a smart plug when the limit is exceeded, and a phone alert reports the problem before it becomes visible.

    Pros / advantages

    • Large, easy-to-read 3.6'' display
    • Accuracy ±0.2 °C and ±2 % RH
    • Dew point and VPD calculation
    • History up to 6 months
    • Works with Alexa, Google Home, SmartThings, Home Assistant
    • Can be used without a gateway (proximity mode)
    • Battery-powered – no wiring

    Cons / limitations

    • Remote access and automation need a Zigbee gateway
    • Not every gateway is supported – the gateway firmware must be updated before pairing
    • Operating humidity 5–95 % RH non-condensing – not for outdoor or wet areas
    • No relay output – other devices are controlled only via the smart system

    Safety and installation notes

    • ⚠ The sensor is for indoor use: do not use it where condensation forms or water reaches it directly.
    • Do not install next to radiators, in direct sunlight or near ventilation grilles – readings will be distorted.
    • Replace batteries with the same type, observe polarity and keep them away from children.
    • Switching between proximity and gateway mode resets the device to factory settings – pair it with the system again.
    • ⚡ If a scene controls 230 V appliances (dehumidifier, heater), use suitable smart plugs or relays; fixed wiring must be done by a qualified electrician with the power switched off.

    Quick selection guide

    3.6'' LCD
    ±0.2 °C / ±2 % RH
    Zigbee
    VPD and dew point
    Suitable when you need:
    • to see room climate on the display and on your phone
    • to control a humidifier, dehumidifier or air conditioner automatically
    • to monitor VPD in a greenhouse or grow tent
    • to log temperature and humidity history
    Check before choosing:
    • whether your Zigbee gateway is supported and up to date
    • whether condensation occurs in the room
    • whether you need remote control or proximity mode is enough
Important reminder: SNZB-02DR2 measures and notifies, but does not switch loads itself – a humidifier, dehumidifier or heater is controlled by the smart system via a separate relay or plug.

Yes, in proximity mode it connects directly to a phone within range. Remote access and scenes require a Zigbee gateway.
    Which gateways are supported?
The manufacturer lists SONOFF Bridge-P, Bridge-U, NSPanel Pro and iHost. The gateway must be updated before pairing.
Does it work with Home Assistant?
Yes, via Zigbee2MQTT or ZHA (according to the manufacturer, ZHA needs an additional script).
    What is VPD?
Vapour pressure deficit – a value calculated from temperature and humidity. It is used to assess plant growing conditions.
    How long is history stored?
Up to 6 months in the app, with maximum, minimum and average curves.
    Can it be used outdoors?
No. Operating conditions are −20…+60 °C and 5–95 % RH non-condensing, so the sensor is for indoor use.
