Three-phase energy meter | 100 A | 3×230/400 V | LCD display | RS485 Modbus RTU | MID | DIN | Rayfull TD50MMID
TD50MMID – a Rayfull three-phase MID-approved energy meter with an LCD display, direct connection up to 100 A and an RS485 Modbus RTU interface, mounted on a DIN rail. Designed for legally valid metering in apartment blocks, commercial and industrial sites, as well as energy audits and reports, where readings must be both certified and conveniently readable on site.
Key idea:
This model is intended for sites where the meter is regularly read by a person – an administrator, an auditor or a tenant. The LCD display shows instantaneous and accumulated data without flicker and is legible from close up at any angle, while MID approval to EN 50470-3:2022 ensures that what is shown on the display can be the basis for an invoice. When there is no one on site to take a reading, the same data is provided by Modbus RTU.Maximum current

The meter is connected directly into the three-phase circuit: phase currents up to 100 A flow through internal measuring circuits, voltage is measured from the input terminals, and active energy is calculated from them at Class B / Class C accuracy. Current transformers are not required, so the certified accuracy covers the entire measuring path from the terminals to the register, which has a capacity of 9,999,999.9 kWh.
Readings are provided through two channels. The LCD display shows accumulated energy and instantaneous parameters – the main way to read the meter on site. The RS485 bus, using the Modbus RTU protocol, transmits the same data to a BMS, SCADA, IoT gateway or energy monitoring platform, where it is collected for reports and audits. MID approval gives the readings legal force for billing.
What makes the TD50MMID worthwhile?
It combines two things that are often needed together: certified metering for tenant billing and convenient local reading on the LCD display when the bus is not yet installed or is temporarily down. The compact 100 x 72 x 66 mm DIN housing and operation from -25 to +55 °C let it be installed both in heated boards and in unheated technical rooms.Technical specifications

Where is it used?
- Metering for apartments and common areas in apartment blocks
- Certified sub-metering for commercial-building tenants
- Departmental energy metering and audits at industrial sites
- Self-monitoring and consumption metering for solar power plants
- Distribution boards being upgraded from old induction meters
- Energy monitoring platforms with Modbus RTU read-out
- Technical rooms and unheated boards down to -25 °C
- Projects requiring MID approval in the documentation
Use by need
For the domestic user.
In a three-phase house or apartment-block flat, the TD50MMID lets you track your own consumption on a clear LCD display, and when renting out a unit, bill the tenant on certified readings. With a solar plant it is suitable for measuring overall consumption; if you need to see export to the grid separately, choose the bidirectional TD50MT.For businesses and industry.
At a commercial or industrial site, the meter provides an MID basis for allocating costs between departments and tenants, and the Modbus RTU interface allows all readings to be collected automatically every month. The LCD display is useful during audits – an auditor can check the readings on site without any equipment.For electricians / engineers.
Before installation, check the supply current (≤ 100 A, otherwise use a CT-operated model) and the wiring diagram, and match the Modbus address and baud rate to the controller. When upgrading boards, this is a direct DIN replacement for an old meter, whose LCD readings tenants will understand without further explanation. For tariff metering, choose the TD50MTMID.Practical example
An apartment-block association is upgrading a 12-flat stairwell with three-phase supplies up to 40 A. In place of the old induction meters, 12 TD50MMID units are installed, linked by a single RS485 line to the association's controller. Every month the registers are read automatically (e.g. flat 5 – 310 kWh, flat 9 – 540 kWh), and residents who want to check see the same figures on the LCD display in the stairwell board. MID approval lets the association use the readings for billing without further metrological verification.
Pros
- MID approval – official metering and billing.
- LCD display – the clearest local reading for the whole household.
- Modbus RTU – professional integration into monitoring systems.
- Direct 100 A connection – no CT and no CT errors.
- Class B / Class C – accuracy to EN 50470-3:2022.
- Durable housing – weather-resistant, suitable for unheated rooms.
Cons / limitations
- Single tariff – no day/night split (for that, see the TD50MTMID).
- No built-in Wi-Fi or Ethernet – remote read-out needs an RS485 gateway.
- Designed for fixed installation – not suitable as a portable meter.
- Direct connection only up to 100 A – higher supplies need a CT-operated model.
- Pulse (S0) output not stated by the manufacturer – check the datasheet.
Safety and installation notes
- Install only with the supply switched off and its absence checked on all three phases.
- An overcurrent protection device rated to the supply current is required upstream of the meter – the meter does not protect the circuit.
- Do not break the MID seal – opening the housing invalidates the certified metering.
- Follow the phase sequence and neutral connection as per the manufacturer's diagram.
- Position the LCD display within the board so it is visible through the board's window or when the door is opened.
- Use screened twisted-pair cable with 120 Ω terminating resistors for the RS485 bus; route the cable separately from power cables.

RS485, Modbus RTUApprovals and mounting
MID, CE, RoHS; DIN railSuitable when you need:- MID metering with convenient local reading on an LCD display up to 100 A;
- automatic reading collection via RS485 Modbus RTU;
- replacement of old meters in upgraded DIN boards.
Check before use:- whether tariffs are not required (if they are, choose the TD50MTMID);
- whether the supply current does not exceed 100 A;
- whether bidirectional metering for grid export is not required;
- whether the RS485 bus is designed with unique addresses.
Important reminder:
MID approval gives the readings legal force, but it does not replace the supplier's incoming meter – this meter is intended for sub-metering and internal allocation under local rules.FAQ
