Three-phase energy meter | 100 A | 3×230/400 V | 4 tariffs | LED display | RS485 Modbus RTU | MID | DIN | Rayfull TD50MTMID
TD50MTMID – a Rayfull three-phase MID-approved energy meter with four independent tariffs, direct connection up to 100 A and an RS485 Modbus RTU interface, DIN mounting. Designed for official metering and billing wherever the price of electricity depends on the time of day: rented commercial premises, production workshops, apartment blocks and households with a two-tariff or zonal plan.
Key idea:
A single-tariff MID meter creates an ongoing dispute for a tenant paying on a day/night plan – what average price to apply. The TD50MTMID resolves this: energy is accumulated in four separate time-based registers, and each register has MID legal force to EN 50470-3:2022. This way, the tenant's invoice mirrors the supplier's tariff structure one-to-one, and Modbus RTU transfers all four registers to the accounting system automatically.Maximum current

MID, CE, RoHS; DIN railHow it works
The meter is connected directly into the three-phase circuit up to 100 A – current transformers are not required, which matters for MID metering, since CT ratio and phase errors then have no bearing on the certified measurement. The internal measuring circuit calculates active energy at Class B / Class C accuracy, and an internal clock assigns each kWh to one of four tariff registers according to a programmed daily schedule.
All four registers and their sum are shown on the LED display in sequence and are available over the RS485 bus via the Modbus RTU protocol. A controller, BMS or accounting program can read the T1–T4 values at any time and generate an invoice using the supplier's prices for each zone. MID approval covers the measuring circuit, so the readings are suitable for billing third parties.
What makes the TD50MTMID worthwhile?
It is the only model in this Rayfull family that combines MID billing metering with 4 tariffs. It lets you fairly pass on both cheap- and expensive-period costs to a tenant or department, and Modbus read-out eliminates manual reading and the errors that come with it.Technical specifications

- MID billing metering – certified readings for invoicing tenants, departments and associations.
- 4 independent tariffs – day/night, peak or zonal plans are reproduced exactly as in the supplier's invoice.
- RS485 Modbus RTU – all tariff registers are read automatically into a BMS, SCADA or accounting program.
- Direct connection up to 100 A – no CT, so certified accuracy is maintained across the whole circuit.
- Stable accuracy – Class B / Class C to EN 50470-3:2022 throughout the service life.
- Wide temperature range – from -25 to +55 °C, suitable for unheated and outdoor cabinets.
Where is it used?
- Tenant metering in commercial buildings according to the supplier's tariff zones
- Cost allocation for production workshops and departments
- Metering of common areas and individual consumers in apartment-block associations
- Households with a two-tariff plan and EV charging
- Rented workshops, warehouses and garages with a three-phase supply
- Outdoor cabinets at telecom and infrastructure sites
- Building management systems with automatic tariff read-out
- Sub-metering of rented retail space in shopping centres
Use by need
For the domestic user.
If you rent out a unit or share a supply with a neighbour and pay on a two-tariff plan, the TD50MTMID lets you bill precisely according to day and night consumption, with MID-valid readings. In a home with an electric vehicle it shows exactly how much charging actually fell within the cheap period.For businesses and industry.
In shift-work workshops, the tariff registers reveal what share of energy is used during the expensive peak period, and provide an MID basis for cost allocation between departments. Integration via Modbus RTU lets all meters' data be collected into a single monthly report.For electricians / engineers.
Make sure the supply current is ≤ 100 A (for higher currents, use a CT-operated model), program the tariff time schedule to match the client's supplier plan, synchronise the meter's clock, and assign the Modbus address before connecting it to the shared bus. If billing is not required and power analysis matters more, the more economical option is the TD50MT without MID.Practical example
At a production park, a tenant runs a 60 A three-phase supply and pays on a three-zone tariff. After installing a TD50MTMID and programming the zones (peak 08:00–12:00 and 17:00–21:00, day, night), the monthly registers show: T1 peak – 2,100 kWh, T2 day – 4,300 kWh, T3 night – 3,600 kWh. The administrator receives these figures via Modbus into the accounting program and applies the supplier's price for each zone – the invoice matches the landlord's costs exactly, and the tenant can see that shifting some work to night hours would save money.
Pros
- MID and 4 tariffs together – legitimate multi-tariff metering.
- Modbus RTU – automatic register read-out without a site visit.
- Direct 100 A connection – no CT and no CT errors.
- Class B / Class C – accuracy to EN 50470-3:2022.
- Environmentally rugged – operates from -25 to +55 °C.
- Compact DIN housing – 100 x 72 x 66 mm.
Cons / limitations
- The tariff schedule and clock require configuration – if set incorrectly, the registers will not match the supplier's invoice.
- Digital LED display only, with no mechanical counter – readings are viewed one at a time.
- Modbus integration requires basic knowledge of addresses, baud rate and register map.
- No built-in Wi-Fi or Ethernet – remote read-out needs an RS485 gateway.
- Direct connection only up to 100 A – higher supplies need a CT-operated model.
Safety and installation notes
- Install only with the supply switched off and its absence checked on all phases.
- An overcurrent protection device is required upstream of the meter – the meter does not protect the circuit itself.
- Do not break the MID seal – opening the housing invalidates the certified metering.
- Follow the phase sequence and neutral connection as per the diagram – the correctness of the readings depends on it.
- After installation, synchronise the clock and check the tariff switching in real time.
- Route the RS485 cable separately from power cables; use screened twisted-pair cable with 120 Ω terminating resistors.
Quick selection guide
Maximum current
100 A (direct connection)Rated voltage
3×230/400 VTariffs and communication
4 independent tariffs; RS485, Modbus RTUApprovals and mounting
MID, CE, RoHS; DIN railSuitable when you need:- MID metering with day/night or zonal tariffs up to 100 A;
- automatic reading of tariff registers via RS485 Modbus RTU;
- a tenant invoice that mirrors the supplier's tariff structure.
Check before use:- whether the supplier's tariff plan fits into 4 zones;
- whether the supply current does not exceed 100 A;
- whether you're able to configure the clock and tariff schedule;
- whether a single programmable open-collector pulse output (default 400 imp/kWh) is enough.
Important reminder:
The tariff registers have legal force only when the time schedule matches the supplier's plan – after every change to the supplier's tariffs, the meter's settings must be updated, otherwise the tenant's invoice can be disputed.FAQ
